The One With the Dressup Act

A transfer student named Rei joins Judai’s room, but things become baffling through his refusal to join them to bathe and his attachment to the Kaiser.  When Rei goes out looking for the Kaiser’s room, Judai follows him and finds out Rei’s secret.  Only Judai gets caught by the Blue students, but he doesn’t tell them about Rei.  With the secret on the line, a duel begins between Judai and Rei.  Rei’s deck, featuring the “Maiden in Love,” is one with a love flair to it.

Phew, finally have this done! Unfortunately, I’m getting some stupid “Invalid Session ID” error on Cloudy that even this cookie-deleter extension’s not solving, so I’m using tune.pk for now.  This was a fun episode, also setting up the next few episodes as the mini Interschool Duel arc comes up, and Rei was a nice character to work with here, as were the Sparkman/Featherman/Burstlady/Maiden interactions because what even was that haha.  (Worth noting that I’m pretty sure everything from Rei moving into Judai’s room to the hella random bathing scene makes up the biggest cut 4Kids had done to the spinoffs until maybe the stupid cut at the end of Crashtown in 5D’s–except, unlike there, this episode didn’t have a recap for them to fluff the episode with.  May have to do a comparison to see how fluffed the dialogue was, lol.)

There were also some fixes to this episode, as well as a translation edit for the hardsub here! Luckily, not too many fixes compared to the adventure that was 19, but they’re there below the cut for you, if you’re curious.  Enjoy, guys! Fixes!

1. As Shou and Hayato turn from suprise at hearing Asuka, part of Hayato’s chin stays in place for a frame for some reason; fixed in Vegas by duplicating the glitchless frame after.
   
2. When Judai realizes he shouldn’t have sent his guy Heroes after the Maiden, as he draws, he draws an imageless Magic Card that, next shot, turns out to be Fusion.  Just made a Fusion proxy and put it in place in AfterEffects; kind of irked me that they were lazy with it when it gets all the details a second later, lol.
3. As Burstlady scolds her fellow Heroes, during the pan to Judai as he sees she’s packing a meaner punch today, she’s suddenly missing her arm cuffs (though she still has her strap, which they were at least mostly good about this episode).  I drew them up in Photoshop and adjusted them as needed thanks to some tips from @akameniseis and @xjudai; I was originally going to make her right arm cuff link to her strap like it should, but opted instead to make it skinny and further down her arm (per some advice from xjudai) to match how it looked when she was summoned so I wouldn’t have to tackle that shot too, haha.  Threw the semifinal result in Vegas, where I masked in her fingers/hand and most of her shoulder (since some of my original edit was still there), exported that frame and saved it as a png, and then keyframed her body to the panning before masking her new cuffs into place.  That was fun!
4. Quick edit here, as they forgot Burstlady’s strap while she fused with Featherman; I just masked in part of the dub’s “make her outfit a jumpsuit” edit in Vegas since it’s a quick shot.
5. For the hardsub, I translated the “Elementary School Fifth Grader!” text behind Rei, and @akameniseis awesomely cut out the two looping frames of Rei I needed in front of it.  I’ll have you credited in the ED for the Cloudy reupload/final NAC post!
