The One With the Bats, ft. The Shining Flare Wingman (Part 3)  [OP/EN 1 Version]

Receiving a Dark Item from Fubuki, a rejuvenated Judai challenges Camula to a duel.  Judai summons Tempester (ATK/ 2800), and Camula uses her Phantasm Gate to try and sacrifice Asuka and the others, but Judai’s Dark Item prevents it.  Offering herself, she steals Tempester and gets Judai’s Life to 1200 all at once.  With Camula having stolen glances at his deck, Judai’s strategies won’t work…

And here’s 33! Closing out the Camula battle, we have Judai stepping up to save Chronos and Ryou from their doll prisons, debuting a new badass Fusion Monster in the process, while we also get Camula’s backstory and how she met our Big Bad (who looks surprisingly buff there…); not a bad episode.  This is also the last we’ll hear of Kanako Irie until she returns in Season 3 to voice another favorite of mine.  Also, I always wondered why they never printed her Vampire/Undead support cards… Also also, honorable mention to Camula’s VA in the dub, Bella Hudson, for actually doing a good job voicing her, imo; the accent and voice were fitting.  Just wish she had better dialogue to work with, as I do with almost all their VAs…

A few fixes here, one of which was done while working on 32′s preview for 33, below the cut as usual.

Enjoy! As mentioned in 32′s post, I revised 34′s script sometime last year for GoldenUmi’s Duel Selection release of the remastered episode, so I should have it out quicker.

Fixes!

  1. For the hardsub, I masked in a 1700 ATK counter from episode 37 because the counter that pops up when Camula’s second Immortal Werewolf is summoned zooms out with the zoom-out on the whole shot; I resized it to cover it and put my “ATK” sub on it.  This won’t be present on the DVDRip that’ll be released with the script.
  2. As Camula sacrifices Vampire Lord (who should’ve had more screentime, the poor vamp) for Genesis, a reversed blank Fusion Monster is on Judai’s Disk for Tempester; I put my proxy there in AfterEffects, adjusted for lighting, and blurred it to match the perspective blur in the shot.
  3. A repeat of #2 as Judai grimaces to lead into the commercial break; I put the proxy on his Disk in one of the last frames of the zoom-in, then zoomed that shot out to keyframe it with the pan while keeping it consistent, masking in Tempester over it where needed.
  4. One last repeat as Camula declares her Genesis’s attack on Tempester, this fix being recycled from 32′s preview for 33.
  5. One thing I didn’t tackle was trying to give Camula her hand back in a few shots where the animators forgot to include them, or reverse the way she’s holding them (in some, she’s holding them with the card back facing her thumb instead of her fingers) because there were no clear shots of her hand to guess what she had in there, aside from Vampire Lord and Genesis Crisis.  I would’ve expected that to be fixed on the DVD…
