Just to catch up. And doing day 10 now since I have work today going into tonight.
Day 4: And what about your least favorite characters, of both genders?
DM
GX
5D’s
Day 5-7: What do you ship?/What shipping do you despise/don’t understand how people could ship it?/Your OTP? Why?
Yeah…not much of a shipper. I’m a big fan of YGO, but not enough to “headcanon” any pairings. I’ll usually go for what’s shown, so stuff like Yugi or Atem/Anzu, Judai/Asuka, Yusei/Aki, Jack/Carly, etc. As for an OTP, now that 1dbad told me what it was, I guess I’ll say Yusei/Aki since that’s the one that’s shown the most, and actually gets some form of closure in the finale. Jack/Carly’s a close second, though it might’ve done better if the whole “throw their relationship over the Daedalus Bridge” thing didn’t happen.
Day 8: How did you get into *Insert series here; if all, just put Yu-Gi-Oh in general*?
I guess I kinda answered this before, so most of this might be repeats.
DM: Saw it on TV in like 6th grade around mid-Duelist Kingdom, liked it, ended up buying Yugi’s Starter Deck and trading off the Dark Magician for some crappy Japanese Magic card because I was dumb. Liked it, kept watching, became a huge fan of the Orichalcos and Dartz, found the JP version of episode 174 on Kazaa, I think (lol I’m old), loved it even though I understood nothing, kept watching the dub to the end, got into more of the Japanese version a bit after (see GX), and the rest is history. Also, the Abridged series came in there somewhere and many laughs were had. And I think finding 174 was what started making me curious about Japanese and got me to borrow this “Japanese in Mangaland” book from the NYPL.
GX: Watched the dub from when it started on CN through half of Season 2. During that span (probably during one of those long Season 1 breaks), I found ep. 72 on NebsTV the week it aired, loved it and the music, eventually joined Janime and found more people into it, and I started watching the dub to see how things were changed around the Quiz Panel episode while watching the raw Japanese version as it aired. Eventually started subbing around then; got my best friend at the time into JP GX and he asked me to start making him some VCDs, so I started with subbing 85 only with Janime’s summaries. Eventually did the same with 102-104 and Season 3 and showed them to my friends at school–even made a recap-style abridged version of 144-155 to show them during my senior year–and kept it going to 156 (using Horoko’s scripts for 151-156) before going back to do Season 1 and 2. Doing all that gradually improved my Japanese skills, so I went back to revise Season 3 when I got a chance (only made it to 143), and now I’m re-revising most of it. It’s safe to say GX is the series I like the most, but I can’t wait until I’m done with the subbing so I can just calmly rewatch it from the beginning.
5D’s: Started watching it the week after GX ended in Japan, still peeved that it was cut short for it, but then the first episode happened.

Kept watching since, and it means a lot to me since it’s the first series (YGO or otherwise) that I’ve seen in Japanese from the get-go. Which is why I can’t stand the 4Kids dub most of the time early on.
Day 9: Do you duel?
Every once in a while, yeah. Main decks are an E-Hero deck based on Judai’s, a Gem Beast deck mostly based off Johan’s, and a mix deck of old-school stuff. The last time I tuned up any of them was probably back in high school, too. I didn’t play much while up at college (and honestly, my interest in the card game was starting to dwindle since I was doing so much more up there); I usually just duel with my friends at home whenever we hang. But because of the dwindling interest thing, I find myself more of a casual player, while they’re a bit more serious about it, if that makes sense. No tournaments or anything, but just…a little more into it than I am now, I guess. I dunno. *shrug*
Day 10: Favorite monster?

Because every time he was summoned, the animation budget got kicked up a few notches.
Well. I think that gets us up to speed here.
