5D’s 28 Dub-Uncut (WIP) - First They Smear You…

Happy with how this came out! After that bit of translation help the other night, I managed to transcribe and translate the entire smear piece Angela wrote about Yusei that Rally and co (and eventually Carly) were looking at, since I might be a bit too much of a perfectionist for a side project, haha.  But I figured I translated that Bommer email back in 21 so if I can, why not? 🤷🏽‍♂️ Had to take a few liberties in spots so I could fill in the space nicely, and tried to get my best “journalist” voice on as I did, lol.  Transcribed text and my original translation below the cut, if you’re curious.

I did do what I could to stitch this up together nicely, though I gave the Duel Stadium photo and the second headline next to it a slight rotation since it being off to the side a bit bugged me as I added the text; shouldn’t be much of an issue once I work it into the footage, since I’ll be masking in the original shot as the photo scrolls up.  That’s why I didn’t try to unblur the TV Domino/etc text at the bottom, since I’ll be masking in the original screen there above it.

Now comes the fun part–since the original shot zooms out while Rally scrolls through the article, I’m thinking it might just be a matter of zooming out the article and moving it with each keyframe with the monitor masked over it, but I’ll see what I can play with. 🤔

〇月✕日、デュエルスタジアムにて開催された「フォーチュンカープ」において優勝に輝いた不動遊星。しかしその勝利について疑問の声が上がっている。
「フォーチュンカープ」は選りすぐりのデュエリストによる最高の栄誉の座を賭けて戦う大会であり、ネオドミノシティのデュエルスタジアムには８万人の観客が押しかけ、熱いバトルが繰り広げられた。予想のつかない展開、大番狂わせの結果、新たにキングの座に輝いたのは、無名の新人「不動遊星」であった。ところが、その勝利の影で、何やら不穏な噂が飛び交っている。

不動遊星の勝利はインチキ？！

問題となっているのは決勝戦「ジャックアトラスVS不動遊星」のバトルである。
デュエルの途中で、突然謎の巨大な「赤い竜」が出現、その直後スタジアム全体が
光に包まれた。強烈な光によって観客もビデオカメラもサーキットの状態を確認する
事が出来なかったのだ。光が消滅すると、ジャックはコース上に転倒しておりスコア
ボードには不動遊星の勝利が表示されていた。つまり、観客もスタジアム関係者も
誰も遊星の勝利の瞬間を見ていなかったのである。

The other day, Yusei Fudo glowed in triumph as the Fortune Cup held at the Duel Stadium came to a close.  However, an increasing number of critics are expressing doubt about his victory.

The Fortune Cup is a tournament in which only the best of the best duelists vie for our most honored title, and 80,000 spectators converged upon Neo Domino City’s Duel Stadium as the heated battles unfolded.  In a surprising turn of events, it was a obscure newcomer named Yusei Fudo who earned the title of King after a stunning upset.  Incidentally, a disturbing rumor has been circling around in the shadow of his victory.

Yusei Fudo’s Victory, Illegitimate?!

The point of contention is the battle between Jack Atlas and Yusei Fudo in the Finals.  In the midst of their duel, an enourmous and mysterious “red dragon” suddenly appeared, and the entire stadium was engulfed in light immediately after.  Due to this intense light, both spectators and video cameras were unable to confirm the situation on the circuit.  As the light disappeared, Jack had crashed on the course as the scoreboard displayed Yusei Fudo’s victory.  In other words, the spectators and the Stadium staff were all unable to witness the very moment in which Yusei became victorious.
