What NOT to say to a woman.

I never really understood what he was saying.  So he was calling her old?  That’s a funny thing to say when your girlfriend appears to be about ten years older than you (and could be even older than that).

Sad to say this really isn’t an episode I like much because of all the assholeishness.  Fubuki was a jerk to Asuka (I know he’s just trying to “help”, but still), who took it out on Misawa, who wasn’t completely blameless himself.

Hopefully I’ll have more positive things to say once the SoL arc gets started up, although I’m a bit hesitant because I’ve gotten into trouble for my views on it before…

He sort of was, I suppose. However, Misawa was also suggesting here that having a “sibling-duo” team for Duel Academy wouldn’t be such a bad idea by saying that it could work since Asuka and Fubuki are about the same age. (Fubuki being only one or two years older than Asuka.) By saying this, it means he’s suggesting Asuka should go back to the Blue dorm and not protect the Red dorm from being destroyed like they (Manjoume, Asuka, Misawa, Sho, and Kenzan) had originally planned to do.

Fubuki was absent for most of season 2 so far, so he’s not really up-to-date on what’s happened recently. Even so, he’s too caught up in his silly fantasies of being a fabulous star with his sister to really pay much attention. (This’ll change when she joins the Society of Light, of course.)

In Japan there is this very strong cult of the female idols. Many girls strive to become idols, most of them sing in girls groups and after that they try a solo career, or acting, or modeling. Many voice actresses also starts as idols.

To be a idol, not only they need to be very gracious, feminine and have a pretty body, but to be a role model: they must be absolutely perfect. There was this idol who destroyed her career because somebody took a photo of her smoking. They can’t even date!

Currently there are also some male idols like that, but they are traditionally female. According to my friend there is this boy band with guys from ages 11 to 15, and the members get replaced as soon as they get too old.

All idols must be of a very specific age, something like under 20 but I don’t know for sure and Asuka is almost too old to try. The Duel Academy is like a high school, and she is in the second year so I’m guessing she is 15 to 16. The older she gets, the worse

…Also most girls don’t like being told they are old.

You know, this reminded me of something…

Fun fact: about halfway through the WRGP arc in 5D’s, Carly’s seiyuu was changed because of something involving her actually being in a cult (IIRC, of course).  I dunno if she actually was more an idol star than just a seiyuu, but seems like image really is kind of a big deal for women there.
