So I remember watching GX 180 for the first time when it aired, seeing Judai’s “Gotcha!!” to the sky, and wondering what I’d see being played over the credits.  I mean, DM had that epilogue with everyone post-Ceremonial Battle over EYE’S, so GX’s last ending would be somewhere near as good, right? RIGHT?

Yeahhh…so I was sorely disappointed.  Instead, Endless Dream played out like normal, and the only “finale” touch we got was the preview for 5D’s and one last shot of Judai over the quick recap of 180 before.  It was kinda underwhelming for a “finale” feel, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who felt that way lol. and if i was the rest of this’ll probably be pointless

Then, 5D’s episode 154 came along, and given the nice tribute to the three Emperors and ZONE that we got in 151, most of us expected a similar send-off for the finale and everyone in the cast.  And it actually wasn’t as disappointing as GX’s last ending; that Last Run scene and the time-skip was great, and seemed like a fitting ending–at least when it aired.  Why? The DVD version brought along an alternate ending that not only put Kizuna over the Last Run scene (which is great for the nostalgia), but gave us a little recap version of Future Colors covering a bunch of moments throughout the series.  Complete with a shot featuring Bruno’s shattered visor. ;_; Now, a lot of us were expecting an actual extended ending/epilogue since that’s what Katsumi Ono, the director, tweeted, but I thought it was nice for what it was.

And so, now that I’m about to hit 180 and finish subbing GX (to start on touchups after and other stuff), I thought I’d celebrate by trying to make a similar video for GX using Endless Dream! I just fiddled around in Vegas to test things out, and it does seem doable, so to work on it, I’ll be taking a breather in between 178 and 179.  Should last a week or two (I’m shooting for one, but with 40 hours of work next week… D:)

As for what clips I’ll use? Well, that’s where you guys come in! I wanted it to be a collection of various moments we all liked in the series or thought were funny/iconic/etc.  I’ve already started planning it out, and like the 5D’s video did, I’ll start with trying to show Judai getting Winged Kuriboh from Yugi in ep1, and then go from there.  I was planning to use clips referenced in flashbacks (think 66, 105, 156, Asuka’s grad-speech one in 179), in 99% V2, Teardrop, etc, but I figured it’d be more fun to get suggestions. :P

My plan right now is to show a moment or two from each season’s big-bad finale duel over the chorus, while everything between the guitar riff to the chorus would get split between Seasons 1-3, finishing with fading into the letter Asuka and co made for Judai over “shinjiru nakama no egao daite”; if possible and I can manage to extract vocals a bit, I might try to toss in Judai’s last “gotcha” right at the end (if anyone has some tips, shoot ‘em my way!).  I might do all four seasons during the guitar riff, then Season 1 and 2 for the verses, gradually hitting Season 3 and 4 come “niji no hashi wo watari”.

But yeah, if you’d like to drop me a suggestion, you can either reblog this, shoot me an ask, or make a post tagged with my url and I’ll look at it (I guess preferably 1 and 3 so I don’t get swamped with a lot of asks haha).  This’ll be fun for me too, since I haven’t done an AMV in a while, not since my Hitomi no Tsubasa/5D’s video two years ago haha (incidentally, I also made a recap GX AMV to the newer version of Shuffle a  long while back that I’ve been meaning to reupload; I might borrow some ideas from that one too if anything).  I’m posting this now so the ideas start piling up while I work on 178, and I’ll also try to get the NAC involved lol.
