(Note: video is like this because I originally planned to just show off the name shots, but YT and copyright i swear to– I even had to mirror some of the shots to try and skirt that lol, so I switched which side gets flipped and mainly only on the recap shots)
So, as I mentioned in thesetwo posts, I’ve been at work the past 3-5 weeks revisiting 99%’s Season 2 opening video to finalize my Season 2 subs, and editing it such that not only could I fully translate the character names, but I could make a textless version of the different variations we never officially got textless versions of.
Out of curiosity, has anyone managed to transparently render these images of Judai, Manjoume, and the rest of the crew from the 99% opening? I’m working to redo how they zip across the screen as their names come up, which I’ve been doing by masking them out of the video in Sony Vegas and I managed to get Judai done well, but I’m noticing a bit of noise in the footage I have for the Manjoume clip that’s messing with how accurately I can cut Manjoume out in Vegas without losing too much detail or color bleeding from the cards on the edges–and those sharp black edges from Kenichi Hara would be nice to keep. Photoshop’s Magic Wand tool isn’t quite doing the job, either…
If it hasn’t been done but someone would be willing to help with that, it would be much appreciated; I’d be happy to credit you with a “Special Thanks” in the OP when I slap on the credit subs. :)
“Victim Sanctuary - Be the Star Engulfing Destruction! Stardust Dragon” | “Duel of the Dragons (Part 2)”
Everybody listen! Got this one all nice and redone! In case this is the first you’re hearing about my mini-project here, let’s get you up to speed:
So, the official Spanish YGO channel on YouTube flubbed a few uploads of the 5D’s dub such that they ended up uploading a few episodes of the English dub instead of the Latin American dub (21-29)–but with none of 4Kids’s background music! Which meant that I could swoop in and re-insert the original Japanese soundtrack (which I did by matching each track to how it was looped in the episode), but I wanted to do more by also tweaking the dub itself so that not only was it matching the original footage, but the dialogue was more in line with the original dialogue timing-wise (since I couldn’t salvage much of what they changed). Hence, the “dubbed uncut” gimmick here.
Check out the masterpost of episodes I’ve done here!
Check out Version 1 of this episode for comparison’s sake!
Really enjoying how this one came out, even though the script wasn’t as accurate as last episode–requiring me to do what I did with 22 and make use of subs where 4Kids deviated far from the Japanese script that I couldn’t restore the original context–this will only be for this hardsub, as I’ll be offering softsubs on NAC alongside it. Full breakdown below the cut, as it got kinda long, lol.
Enjoy, folks! With this out of the way, I think revising 25 and 26 will be much more of a cinch, as that was when I really hit my stride in terms of editing; adding back some Synchro chants might be all I need to do, but fingers crossed… Meanwhile, I’m slowly getting things ready to start work on finalizing my GX Season 2 subs, so stay tuned there!
All right, so with everything up-and-loaded over on Cloudy, the downside is that they don’t have a playlist function so I can organize everything like on Dailymotion. Enter this post, where you’ll find all the links sorted out by seasons! I’ll be updating it as I upload my finalized Season 1 episodes in the coming weeks, so check the original post periodically or keep an eye on the notes for any reblogs of it I do so you’re aware of any updates. Also, keep in mind that you can download these from NAC, since I post all my downloads there!
If you would rather download, you can also use this torrent set up by rhodanum with all of my subbed episodes, including my updated Season 3 subs (which you won’t find in other torrents; does not include my finalized Season 1 stuff, which you can find on NAC’s download forum): http://bit.ly/1dVusa2
(Before you go on here, if you don’t mind, would you please take a minute to sign this petition I’ve set up to get GX’s unreleased music tracks released? A lot of GX wouldn’t be as good as it was without the unreleased music, and it’s still disappointing that the delayed Sound Duel 2 didn’t cover much of them. Fans got ZeXal an unexpected Sound Duel 5, so we’re trying to do the same for GX here! Spread the word if you can, too!)
Also, Crunchyroll has begun to roll out official GX subs as of 8/1/15! This is excellent news for the fandom, and while you’re more than welcome to continue watching my subs, be sure to give their subs at least one watch just to show support for the official release! You can also just have their upload playing on a muted tab while you watch my version!
To keep the html’d list consistent, season breaks are denoted like this; arc breaks are in italics.
UPDATE (4/5/20): Finalized!Episodes 1-52 now on the list! With that, Season 1 is fully finalized with up-to-date translations! Keep an eye out as I start finalizing Season 2 in the next few weeks~
If you see any busted links, shoot me an ask and I’ll fix it up! Make sure you check the original post first, though; I may have already fixed it. :P

5D’s Dub-Uncut 24 (REDO) WIP #2: Duel of the Dragons Incoming
So, as noted before, YouTube has apparently gotten stingier with my WIP videos; it’s been a pain to show off my redone 24 ;_; (The white flashing you might see is me trying to bypass that YouTube nonsense, if it even helps lol)
Anyway, here I’m showing off the Synchro chants from Duel Links being added back for Aki and Yusei; I did tweak Aki’s lines as she’s summoning Dark Verdure to more properly explain its effect, taking some dialogue from 61 that I vocal-isolated (I also swapped her “You want combos? Watch!” line for an “It’s my turn–I draw!” line from 22, and subsequently combined Tanner’s “This isn’t good” with his “Yusei better think of something fast” line from 26 to wipe out his “Here comes the combo she was talking about” line), and I also threw in Akiza’s “Black Binding Bloom” and “Black Rose Flare” from Duel Links as I had her command Black Rose Dragon to attack like in the JP script. Leo doesn’t talk as Junk Warrior’s powered up (I added back some SFX I left out my first go-round), then yeah, Yusei brings out Stardust.
Currently polishing up the part where Aki puts her mask back on, so stay tuned; let me know what you think! Looking forward to using yugidmx5’s newest Hopeless Battle rip~
So, this was something I started a few weeks ago–the official Spanish YGO channel on YouTube flubbed a few uploads of the 5D’s dub such that they ended up uploading a few episodes of the English dub instead of the Latin American dub (22-27)–but with none of 4Kids’s background music! Hence, the “dubbed uncut” gimmick here. I’ll be working on this alongside my finalized GX subs, so this should be fun.
Along with the more accurately-paced dialogue, I’ve also translated the OP/EN, the title cards, and previews (where I also throw in the corresponding lines to the Japanese preview from the next episode, if I’m able) to give this an actual “What if they actually did this uncut” feel. I go into more of the specifics with each episode’s own release post, so check out the tag here to see what I’ve done with them! If you’re curious about how they look as I edit everything, check out the work-in-progress videos I’ve done here.
And with Duel Links having given us 5D’s, we also have the English VAs performing lines right from the Japanese version, so I’ll be doing my best to squeeze them in! Especially since the Latin American dub stopped after 4Kids gave them “Season 1″ of episodes 1-52, so no chants from 65+ unfortunately~ [But we get “The hopes coalesce into a single star!” so I’ll be happy]
Anywho, check ‘em out below, and stay tuned as I get them done! Italics denote an episode I haven’t gotten to uncutify yet.
Current Update (1/31/20): Episodes 21-22, 24-26 and revised!23 are here! With the release of 5D’s!Duel Links, stay tuned for revisions to 23-26
(they were the first I did a while back) before I take a crack at 27-29.
The One With the PERFECTion (Part 1) wait i see no cell here
Kaiser Ryou, best at the academy, nominates Judai as his opponent for his Role-Model Duel to be held in honor of his graduation. Judai and Kaiser Ryou duel, and a worked-up Judai becomes unusually meticulous as he tries to fend off his Cyber End Dragon/Power Bond combo. But the Kaiser Fusion-Summons Cyber End Dragon on his very first turn, and while he avoids fatal damage, due to the Kaiser’s skillful fusion and de-fusion, Judai loses his edge before he finally summons a Power-Bond-enhanced Cyber End Dragon (ATK/ 8000).
The One With the PERFECTion (Part 2) i don’t even see vegeta c’mon
Judai’s duel with Kaiser Ryou continues, as Judai holds back a fierce attack from an enhanced Cyber End Dragon with his LP down to 100. Hungry, he eats some riceballs and regains his true sense of self. And then, he assembles four Elemental Heroes with different Attributes–Earth, Water, Fire, and Wind–using his Trap Card to hit the Kaiser’s field with a clean sweep. But the Kaiser once again summons an enhanced Cyber End, and raises its ATK to 16,000 with Limiter Removal. With fusion their strong suits, the scale of their battle hits its limits…
See ya, Season 1~
Not too long after I finalized episode 50, here’s a double-header for you as Judai and Ryou have a rematch to close the season out! This one’s pretty enjoyable, especially once Judai gets back into things; Ryou picks Judai as his last Academia opponent knowing he’d give him a good fight, but you can sense his disappointment as Judai duels without the trait he was looking forward to over the course of 51. And then between the Elemental Burst combo and the over-the-top-ATK battle to finish things off, it’s a fun watch that sends Ryou off.
Correction-wise, 51 had a few card fixes as well as a QOL footage fix, while there was one card fix in 52; notes below the cut, as usual.
Enjoy, folks! And I hope you’re all staying safe and healthy (and home if able) given the circumstances; hopefully these get to lighten things up for you a little. With this season now finalized, I’ll take a GX break to go work on revising my 5D’s Dub-Uncut #24 so it’s up to snuff with the newer ones I did as I start working on stuff for GX Season 2; now that I’m more well-versed in editing with Photoshop/etc, I’m looking forward to more fully translating that OP, lol. who’s ready for 52 more episodes of 99%

Everybody who’s still following or curious about this project listen!
Phew, finally managed to get this thing all nice and done! In case this is the first you’re hearing about my mini-project here:
So, this was the first episode I did as I got this mini-project going since it’s a favorite of mine, and now that I’ve gone on to do five others and have a little routine to go at it with, I’ve given it a revision. Overall, the dialogue for this episode was more faithful than usual to the Japanese version, save for a card explanation or two, so with a fluff line cut here and a moved or recycled-from-another-episode line over there, it was easier to make this work with the Japanese episode.
A few parts were essentially done by just throwing in the Japanese version’s dialogue-less audio to eliminate some of the extra fluff, and others were more about rearranging or recycling certain lines to eliminate some more fluff or make my matching the JP script flow better (this happens during Yusei’s thinking about Akiza in his room, for example). Duel Links audio came in handy for the Rose Tentacles scene, and with Akiza’s “enjoying destruction” at the end (which, THANK YOU DUEL LINKS FOR KEEPING THAT). I also moved some lines to try and cut out some of the unneeded SFX 4Kids added; Yusei’s “I counter by summoning Speed Warrior in Attack Mode” was one I made “I summon Speed Warrior!” line to avoid doubling up on Speed Warrior’s grunts, for example, and I did also try to stitch together some lines for better card effect explanations from Akiza. You can see those in action in the WIP videos above (it was Cursed Ivy’s activation and her explaining Rose Tentacles), but in case you don’t like how it came out, I did include a slightly less-edited version of the episode above that uses her lines from the episode (you can see a revised version of the Cursed Ivy stitching in this WIP revision)
Music-wise, I did revise a few things versus Version 1; I realized I looped “The Big Quake” incorrectly near the end as Aki pants, and I fixed the pitch I had “Incident” at in the beginning so the transition to the Japanese track as Yusei walks in the hallway isn’t jarring. Do love hearing Mind Games as the duel begins, though, and Izayoi Battle helps the mood quite a bit.
Let me know what you think (maybe the music’s too low in spots?), but hope you guys enjoy! I’ll be going back to GX and finalizing 50-52 to round out Season 1 finally, but I’ll be working on revising 5D’s 24 here/there while I do to avoid burnout; looking forward to adding back some Synchro chants there. Stay tuned!
Hayato wins a card-designing contest sponsored by Industrial Illusions, Inc., with a great piece of artwork. But unless he wins against Professor Chronos in their exam duel, he won’t get to be the card designer he hopes to be. As Hayato and Chronos duel, Hayato doesn’t misplay and takes on Chronos’s Antique Gear cards on even footing, but gradually his Antique Gear Golem overwhelms and nearly crushes him. Remembering his resolve from his trip to Australia a year ago, he attempts a comeback with his “Ayers Rock Sunrise” Spell…
Got ourselves a finalized episode 50! This one’s a favorite because Hayato shows us that Judai and the others have rubbed off on him–he’s gone from someone who was held back and was near giving up to being more confident and hopeful, and you do like to see it. As you do Chronos actually caring. (Also that Kaisei instrumental during the ending why weren’t you released 😭)
Unfortunately, it’s not as powerful in the dub because they tossed out any subtle character moments Hayato had through the season showing us that he’s learning from the group (a moment in episode 5 that I mentioned a while back being replaced with talk of grilled cheese, for one).
Surprisingly, no card edits or anything needed to be done here, so this was easy to churn out; may have a few for 51 though, so we’ll see how that goes as I work on it and 52 to finish up Season 1 as Judai and Ryou have themselves a rematch.
