Aged Chairman Kagemaru steals the keys to the seven Spirit Gates, acquiring the three Phantasm cards. Judai and Kagemaru duel, and Kagemaru summons the first Phantasm, “Uria, Lord of Divine Flames.” Its ATK is multiplied by 1000 for each Trap Card in his Cemetery, and it can take out opposing Traps. Judai takes down Uria, but it revives with each attempt. Additionally, the second Phantasm, “Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder” (ATK/ 4000), is summoned, and Judai faces a tough predicament against both Phantasms. Through the Phantasms, Kagemaru gains the life energies of the Duel Monsters, which…
“Raviel, Lord of Phantasms” (ATK/ 4000), is summoned, as well. Kagemaru’s goal is to absorb even Judai and gain eternal life from the Duel Monsters. Judai’s down to 600LP, but he rides his wishes on the mysterious card left behind by Daitokuji, and aims for a turnaround…
Bit of a delay aside (as I mentioned here), episodes 48 and 49 are finally finalized! Here, we reach the climax of our villain plot this Season, as Judai takes on Old Man Kagemaru and the three Phantasms we’ve been building up to seeing. It’s a good two-parter that does a good job of showing how menacing they can be (though maybe Part 2 does a better job due to the better art quality), and they’re not bad as the yang to the Mythic/Egyptian Gods’ yin (though I believe that role’s better played by the Wicked cards in YGO R? Been a while…). Judai appealing to Kagemaru’s humanity (around eliminating the Duel Monsters leading to his loneliness) is a nice touch, too, and I’m glad that the dub kep–just kidding, the dub completely cut that part out
As I mentioned in my initial linked post, part of the delay in getting these done was finishing the animation/card fixes with a slightly hectic irl schedule; 48 had less of them, but 49 had a couple that were… fun to work with. List below the cut, as usual~
Enjoy, folks! I’ll be taking a little break to work some more on those 5D’s Dub-Uncuts (revising my first attempt at episode 23, which should sound neat with Duel Links lines) before prepping to knock out the final three episodes and get Season 1 in the finalized books. Looking forward to Hayato VS Chronos and the Graduation Duel finale; Judai VS Ryou II is one of my favorites. :)
Manjoume can’t hold back his love for Asuka. Pushed to it by Fubuki, he steals the seven Spirit Gates’ keys and forces Asuka into a duel. While Manjoume uses the Love Letter and Hidden Feelings cards, he soon becomes crazed about his love. He keeps Asuka from summoning Monsters with his Ojama Token and Ojama King and is close to seizing victory, but Asuka seeks to turn things around with her Cyber Angel…

Finally have this completed for you folks! Apologies for the hold-up, it’s been a veery busy month, lol. So, here we have an iconic episode now finalized: Manjoume VS Asuka, fueled in part by Fubuki’s bad habit of being there for those in love. It’s entertaining for sure, though it does make clear that Manjoume’s feelings were a bit one-sided… 😅
Part of the delay with this was working on some of the animation fixes I did here, and doing them for 48-49 too since I want to try and work on them next in quicker succession. List of 47′s fixes below the cut, as usual.
Enjoy! I’ll be working on 48 next as we get the final villain showdown of Season 1 done in Judai VS Kagemaru, which is a good two-parter; I’ll be trying to do a double-release for them, so stay tuned!
Everybody who’s still following or curious about this project listen!
Phew, finally managed to get this thing all nice and done! In case this is the first you’re hearing about my mini-project here:
So, the official Spanish YGO channel on YouTube flubbed a few uploads of the 5D’s dub such that they ended up uploading a few episodes of the English dub instead of the Latin American dub (21-29)–but with none of 4Kids’s background music! Which meant that I could swoop in and re-insert the original Japanese soundtrack (which I did by matching each track to how it was looped in the episode), but I wanted to do more by also tweaking the dub itself so that not only was it matching the original footage, but the dialogue was more in line with the original dialogue timing-wise (since I couldn’t salvage much of what they changed). Hence, the “dubbed uncut” gimmick here.
Check out the masterpost of episodes I’ve done here!
So, this was the first episode I did as I got this mini-project going since it’s a favorite of mine, and now that I’ve gone on to do five others and have a little routine to go at it with, I’ve given it a revision. Overall, the dialogue for this episode was more faithful than usual to the Japanese version, save for a card explanation or two, so with a fluff line cut here and a moved or recycled-from-another-episode line over there, it was easier to make this work with the Japanese episode.
A few parts were essentially done by just throwing in the Japanese version’s dialogue-less audio to eliminate some of the extra fluff, and others were more about rearranging or recycling certain lines to eliminate some more fluff or make my matching the JP script flow better (this happens during Yusei’s thinking about Akiza in his room, for example). Duel Links audio came in handy for the Rose Tentacles scene, and with Akiza’s “enjoying destruction” at the end (which, THANK YOU DUEL LINKS FOR KEEPING THAT). I also moved some lines to try and cut out some of the unneeded SFX 4Kids added; Yusei’s “I counter by summoning Speed Warrior in Attack Mode” was one I made “I summon Speed Warrior!” line to avoid doubling up on Speed Warrior’s grunts, for example, and I did also try to stitch together some lines for better card effect explanations from Akiza. You can see those in action in the WIP videos above (it was Cursed Ivy’s activation and her explaining Rose Tentacles), but in case you don’t like how it came out, I did include a slightly less-edited version of the episode above that uses her lines from the episode (you can see a revised version of the Cursed Ivy stitching in this WIP revision)
Music-wise, I did revise a few things versus Version 1; I realized I looped “The Big Quake” incorrectly near the end as Aki pants, and I fixed the pitch I had “Incident” at in the beginning so the transition to the Japanese track as Yusei walks in the hallway isn’t jarring. Do love hearing Mind Games as the duel begins, though, and Izayoi Battle helps the mood quite a bit.
Let me know what you think (maybe the music’s too low in spots?), but hope you guys enjoy! I’ll be going back to GX and finalizing 50-52 to round out Season 1 finally, but I’ll be working on revising 5D’s 24 here/there while I do to avoid burnout; looking forward to adding back some Synchro chants there. Stay tuned!
Howdy, people! I’ve been spending the past few weeks going over what I previously did with episode 23 for this dub-uncut project, readjusting the process and editing that went into it now that I’ve established a routine after handling 4-5 of these now. I realized I didn’t share too many WIP clips from 23 the first go-around, so I thought I’d show off a little more of this now that it’s nearly the finished product.
Getting into the duel stuff now (see WIP #1 here), this second WIP has a bit more editing to it. For starters, adding back some SFX that was quiet in the BGM-less mix, with the Japanese audio as usable. Dialogue-wise, Akiza’s “[And] I place…” line had “And” replacing “Next” because I wanted to trim out the SFX from the dub’s DEF counter reveal, I added Yusei’s “Hyper Sonic Slash!!” from Duel Links, then I stitched together Aki explaining Cursed Ivy to move “I bring my Wall of Ivy back!” a bit later and cut out her extra banter lines (here, “In case you can’t tell, I’ve got a green thumb”), and then I fixed a dumb dub error where Akiza tries to imply that Wall of Ivy (a Monster) powered up Cursed Ivy (a Trap). 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ (I may try to make her consistent with “Wall of Ivy” over “Ivy Wall” since it’s bugging me lol.) Then, some spacing-out for Yusei’s thoughts, and a recycled line from 22 to end Akiza’s turn!
Check out this brief revision video I did after it was suggested I try to stitch together a line to clear out some more of Akiza’s fluff; I stitched together an explanation for Cursed Ivy so I could clear out her “remember when I did this” line. Think this came together decently, especially once I added back the SFX; thankfully, I found the right SFX for the vines from episode 24 as Black Rose attacked lol. Akiza’s voice sounds a bit echoey at the beginning of her “now I can equip” line because that part’s taken from 24 once she has her mask back on; I tried to apply an effect to reduce the echo via messing with a filter, but seems I couldn’t do too much, but it’s the only near-usable line I could find where she mentions equipping, so. This’ll likely be in the final product!
Have another WIP video coming (which was split in two to get past YouTube and its copyright shenanigans), so stay tuned; that’ll show off what should be the final version of the Thorn Whips scene with the ending helped a bit thanks to Duel Links’s audio~
Does anyone happen to have a good sound effect file handy for the whooshing action background as people make their moves in YGO? I’d prefer the one from 5D’s (as in the clip here) atm but GX’s or DM’s works too! I know folks like LittleKuriboh or maybe fandubbers out there might have some that they’ve used? 🙏🏽

All right, so with everything up-and-loaded over on Cloudy, the downside is that they don’t have a playlist function so I can organize everything like on Dailymotion. Enter this post, where you’ll find all the links sorted out by seasons! I’ll be updating it as I upload my finalized Season 1 episodes in the coming weeks, so check the original post periodically or keep an eye on the notes for any reblogs of it I do so you’re aware of any updates. Also, keep in mind that you can download these from NAC, since I post all my downloads there!
If you would rather download, you can also use this torrent set up by rhodanum with all of my subbed episodes, including my updated Season 3 subs (which you won’t find in other torrents; does not include my finalized Season 1 stuff, which you can find on NAC’s download forum): http://bit.ly/1dVusa2
(Before you go on here, if you don’t mind, would you please take a minute to sign this petition I’ve set up to get GX’s unreleased music tracks released? A lot of GX wouldn’t be as good as it was without the unreleased music, and it’s still disappointing that the delayed Sound Duel 2 didn’t cover much of them. Fans got ZeXal an unexpected Sound Duel 5, so we’re trying to do the same for GX here! Spread the word if you can, too!)
Also, Crunchyroll has begun to roll out official GX subs as of 8/1/15! This is excellent news for the fandom, and while you’re more than welcome to continue watching my subs, be sure to give their subs at least one watch just to show support for the official release! You can also just have their upload playing on a muted tab while you watch my version!
To keep the html’d list consistent, season breaks are denoted like this; arc breaks are in italics.
UPDATE (12/10/19): Finalized!Episodes 1-49 now on the list!
If you see any busted links, shoot me an ask and I’ll fix it up! Make sure you check the original post first, though; I may have already fixed it. :P

A Disclosed Past - The Duel Profiler VS the Black Rose Witch

So, this was another interesting one to work with–I think overall this episode’s dub definitely benefits from having the Japanese music at *all*, but getting the dialogue a bit more in line with the Japanese script was the more "fun” task here. A few parts were essentially done by just throwing in the Japanese version’s dialogue-less audio to eliminate some of the extra fluff, and others were more about rearranging or recycling certain lines (some from 23 or 24 when I needed something for Aki) to eliminate some more fluff or make my matching the JP script flow better. I also fixed an error that bugged me from Tanner about the Black Rose being down to her last few “ATK” points; I ran a line of his from episode 7 through PhonicMind.com to remove the music and splice in “Life” there (I actually did that with much of the second half of that ep so I’ll probably try to do the JP OST thing there too~) For the bits that I felt were just too far edited by 4Kids that I couldn’t do much with them, I thought I’d slip in subs for the Japanese version of the scenes so you get the original context in there; that’ll just be for this hardsub, as you’ll have softsubs to work with when I post this for download over on NAC. You can see it in action in this preview here. Also going ahead and translating the “Today’s Best Card” and title cards along with the OP/EN going forward, lol.

So, this was something I started a few weeks ago–the official Spanish YGO channel on YouTube flubbed a few uploads of the 5D’s dub such that they ended up uploading a few episodes of the English dub instead of the Latin American dub (22-27)–but with none of 4Kids’s background music! Which meant that I could swoop in and re-insert the original Japanese soundtrack (which I did by matching each track to how it was looped in the episode), but I wanted to do more by also tweaking the dub itself so that not only was it matching the original footage, but the dialogue was more in line with the original dialogue timing-wise (since I couldn’t salvage what they changed, like Yusei asking about Goodwin talking to Akiza instead of JP!Yusei’s asking about his friends). Hence, the “dubbed uncut” gimmick here. I’ll be working on this alongside my finalized GX subs, so this should be fun.
Along with the more accurately-paced dialogue, I’ve also translated the OP/EN, the title cards, and previews (where I also throw in the corresponding lines to the Japanese preview from the next episode, if I’m able) to give this an actual “What if they actually did this uncut” feel. I go into more of the specifics with each episode’s own post, so check out the tag here to see what I’ve done with them! And with Duel Links having given us 5D’s, we also have the English VAs performing lines right from the Japanese version, so I’ll be doing my best to squeeze them in! Especially since the Latin American dub stopped after 4Kids gave them “Season 1″ of episodes 1-52, so no chants from 65+ unfortunately~ [But we get “The hopes coalesce into a single star!” so I’ll be happy]
Anywho, check ‘em out below, and stay tuned as I get them done! Italics denote an episode I haven’t gotten to uncutify yet.
Current Update (7/25/19): Episodes 21-22 and 23-26 are here! Though with the release of 5D’s!Duel Links, stay tuned for revisions to 23-26 (they were the first I did)! Check out this tag on my blog to see the release posts for each for a look at the process!
