I’m almost done with the episode! Here’s another preview showing off my edits to this scene, but with a twist: I’ve always thought the original track playing here, “Rage” from 5D’s Sound Duel 2, sounded a lot like “Standstill,” one of the unreleased GX tracks. So I thought I’d mix it in to see how it’d look in the scene proper, and I think it did work pretty well! This won’t be in the final dub-uncut episode, this is just for a little fun!
Edit-wise, this one was a doozy–edited around all the talk of Greiger breaking into Goodwin’s office just before this starts to make it bear some resemblance to the original, and between recycling some of Greiger’s lines and reappropriating them in other spots, I think it came out decently enough! Also had Yusei call after him like he did originally as he rides up to try and stop him (dub!Yusei just shouts “No!” which is fine but to try and match the original and all~), and I got rid of Yusei’s extra line before Greiger screams at Goodwin by recycling some of Greiger’s grunting.
Thoughts? Stay tuned for a link to the full thing, as I give the episode some quality-checking now that I’ve pretty much finished it.
5D’s Dub-Uncut Episode 21 WIP #2: AIRRAI–SKYFIRE Closes In
A teaser for the first two mins of the episode proper! This one also shows how the MC sounds now that I have a setting I’ll use to restore the echo in his voice, but for the OST, “Enemy Attack” plays at a quicker pace here–it’s a few milliseconds quicker than the album version–but it’s pretty subtle; it took me a few times to get the timing right, lol. You’ll notice dialogue is a little more paced with the Japanese version; I moved some of the MC’s dialogue around a little and I overwrote Yusei’s “and so do I” to Greiger with a later “It’s my move!”, for example.
(Also dumb that they had to change AIRRAID’s shooting SFX for SKYFIRE; makes it a tiny bit more noticeable when I’m switching audio from the dub to the Japanese version, lol.)
Progress so far has gone pretty well; I’ve drafted the whole episode, including the preview, and now I’m finalizing things with SFX and audio levels. I’m up to the commercial break on this, though I do still have to rip the Rally flashback from episode 3 for use here. I wish Bommer was already in Duel Links so I had more to work with for him D:
In case you missed it, I started doing this with episode 23-26 (26 being my most recent one), and now I’m going back to do 21 and 22 before I do 27-29. But here, I had an interesting situation: a mostly-recap of episode 20, which wasn’t accidentally uploaded musicless. I looked into how to isolate vocals and came across PhonicMind.com, which I did a test on, and it actually removed the music really well! I prepared the recap audio I needed from episode 20, then saved it to a wav file that I uploaded there, and threw in the good results into Vegas.
I do need a good Greiger gasp I might get from 20 if the one I sampled in from later in 21 doesn’t sound quite good here, but we’ll see. Also had Japanese Max and Annie scream as the quality on their musicless scream in the dub was decent but couldn’t figure out how to place it behind Greiger’s thoughts… May revisit.
A young man known as “Boy,” a hit in the world of gambling, has stormed into the Academia, selling himself into being a member of the Seven Stars opposition. The Boy is challenged by his old friend Asuka to a duel. The Boy’s tactics revolve around dueling by calling coin flips with his Gambler Deck. He gets two coin tosses through his Second Chance and always guesses his flips right. However, Asuka has had her eye on the Boy’s one weakness since childhood…
Here’s finalized!43! A nice bit of development for Asuka is always welcome, as it shows us some more on her dueling philosophy, and it was interesting to see an old classmate of hers in the Boy. I do like how we see hints of his way of thinking and then Asuka calls it out right towards the end. Also features one of the few uses of the “A Fresh Morning” tune from GX Sound Duel 1 at the beginning, and it’s a really nice track.
Thankfully, not much in the way of fixes this episode! Though the one fix with Judai’s hair in one shot did bug me a little; I flip-flopped between just painting over the miscolored section or just using the recolor tool in Photoshop, and while I went with the latter and it still kiinda sticks out, I do think using the former would’ve stuck out more lol. List below the cut~
Enjoy, folks! Think I’ll get to work on dub-uncut!5D’s #21 for a bit, then work on GX 44. Looking forward to revisiting the Amnael stuff, as it’s some of my favorite Season 1 content!

All right, so with everything up-and-loaded over on Cloudy, the downside is that they don’t have a playlist function so I can organize everything like on Dailymotion. Enter this post, where you’ll find all the links sorted out by seasons! I’ll be updating it as I upload my finalized Season 1 episodes in the coming weeks, so check the original post periodically or keep an eye on the notes for any reblogs of it I do so you’re aware of any updates. Also, keep in mind that you can download these from NAC, since I post all my downloads there!
If you would rather download, you can also use this torrent set up by rhodanum with all of my subbed episodes, including my updated Season 3 subs (which you won’t find in other torrents; does not include my finalized Season 1 stuff, which you can find on NAC’s download forum): http://bit.ly/1dVusa2
(Before you go on here, if you don’t mind, would you please take a minute to sign this petition I’ve set up to get GX’s unreleased music tracks released? A lot of GX wouldn’t be as good as it was without the unreleased music, and it’s still disappointing that the delayed Sound Duel 2 didn’t cover much of them. Fans got ZeXal an unexpected Sound Duel 5, so we’re trying to do the same for GX here! Spread the word if you can, too!)
Also, Crunchyroll has begun to roll out official GX subs as of 8/1/15! This is excellent news for the fandom, and while you’re more than welcome to continue watching my subs, be sure to give their subs at least one watch just to show support for the official release! You can also just have their upload playing on a muted tab while you watch my version!
To keep the html’d list consistent, season breaks are denoted like this; arc breaks are in italics.
UPDATE (01/02/2019): Happy new year! Finalized!Episodes 1-42 now on the list! Also, I updated episode 39; I fixed an animation error that I missed at first, and I also corrected Armed Dragon LV7′s attack name. I updated 25 (in which I also updated Burstlady’s attack name to “Burstfire” per the TCG card), and 26 per that last point, as well, for consistency.
If you see any busted links, shoot me an ask and I’ll fix it up! Make sure you check the original post first, though; I may have already fixed it. :P
The duel between Judai and Manjoume Thunder continues. Manjoume’s Armed Dragon becomes a Level-7 (ATK/ 2800), and Judai’s made to go on the defense. Judai uses Special Hurricane to sweep out his Armed Dragon. Judai realizes that Manjoume’s feelings aren’t about him, but about his brothers in the audience. Manjoume once again summons Armed Dragon LV7, but with the mental upper hand, Judai plots a brilliant counterattack.
Not too long of a delay after 25, is it? Here’s 26, the thrilling conclusion! We get a good bit of character development continuing for Manjoume in how he feels towards his brothers and it resolving a bit before a final resolution in a little while. The duel goes well, too, and Judai’s upset was fun to watch. There were some fun shots mixed in too, like that bit early on with Armed Dragon LV7 destroying Featherman, and then the final Manjoume Thunder bit, lol.
So, with this done, I’ll be tackling my portion of the DSoD script for GX_ST, then starting 27. If Videa turns out to be good to my uploads, then I’ll probably try to migrate all my subs to it at some point for my stream masterpost, since I know Cloudy’s given some people issues.
There were also some fixes to this episode, though thankfully not as many, and more on the card and quick touchup side of things. Full list below. Enjoy!
It’s the Interschool Match between the Academia and the North Campus, and a hardened Manjoume–called “Manjoume Thunder” at the North Campus–stands before a high-spirited Judai. Judai and Manjoume Thunder duel, and through the power of the Manjoume family, it’s all live on TV. Manjoume’s Armed Dragons are Level-Up Monsters that get stronger with each turn, and with their strengthening Monster Effects, Judai’s E-Heroes are left at wit’s end…
*crashes onto your dash weeks late with Starbucks*
Didn’t mean for this one to take so long! I think it’s partly getting used to my schedule under my new job and trying to squeeze in all the editing and stuff. Also uploaded this one on a different site, as Cloudy’s been giving me trouble this weekend, but I’ll see if this one would work better going forward, since I know Yami on NAC’s posted ARC-V for a while on there and I’ve had people telling me they’ve had issues using Cloudy through my masterpost.
But anywho, 25′s finalized! My favorite Judai and Manjoume duel, this one sees them clash in ideals, Judai’s happy-go-lucky attitude going up against the stress Manjoume has going on, and it comes to a good conclusion next episode. Samejima and Ichinose talk of a special prize on the line, but what could it be? Find out in Part 2! It’s not what you expect.
(Also, TL Note: worth noting that the confusion Judai has going on when Manjoume’s all “It’s me” is because of him talking about himself in the third person with “-san,” in case some of you are new to the Thunder.)
Part of the delay with this one was the edits I had going on, which were tough to fit into my schedule when I’d get home with an hour or two before I had to sleep for work the next day. But there were a few, ranging from Burstlady’s unfortunate strap incidents to card fixes. Listed below the cut, as usual.
I’m going to at least work on the script for 26 much of this week, and hopefully I won’t have many edits to work on there. Once I do, I have a side-project or two to get some more done with for some people, but I’ll see about how I’ll squeeze it in, as I’m also helping with translating Dark Side of Dimensions’s script for GX_ST since it’s the big movie for the franchise that has been a part of my life for so long. Why aren’t there more days in the week though
(Because Don Zaloog’s Walken impression was arguably the best thing the dub did)
Judai and the others have their keys to the seven Spirit Gates stolen–and it was the doing of the five Black Scorpion Graverobbers, who’ve hidden themselves at the academy. Solving the case, Manjoume begins a duel with the Black Scorpions’ leader, Zaloog. Manjoume closes in by leveling up his Armed Dragon, but the five Black Scorpions seal it away from him. With the five’s combined attacks stripping him of 2000 LP in one turn–and putting him one attack closer to defeat–Manjoume rides it all on the Ojama Trio.
lol remember when I said I’d have this done three weekends ago
Here’s episode 39! Apologies for the delay on this one; I’d been door-knocking with a crazy congressional campaign every weekend the last few weeks and especially on Primary Day last Tuesday (you may have heard of it by now~especially if you follow me on Twitter), and between that, working my 8:30-5:30, gym/commute time, and still being terrible with sleep… Had a rougher time squeezing in the work here than I expected… 😅
But we made it! 39′s a fun episode that plays on Detective Conan a little bit in Manjoume’s detective antics (with… questionable methods), and it’s neat to see the Black Scorpions get a little airtime. Manjoume also gets a welcome duel, and we get the debut of Ojama King aka best Monster you’re just mean Yuri. Tune in next time when our protagonist battles an ancient Egyptian pharaoh with an unbeatable streak and… not-too-ridiculous hair? Do those exist??
Nothing in the way of card fixes this episode–yay!–so I just did two quick Quality of Life fixes to the footage; list below the cut.
Enjoy, folks; starting some more work on my 5D’s dub-uncut project with episode 24! Stay tuned for a little peek there. I’ll start prepping some stuff for GX 40 here/there; will shoot to have it done by mid-to-late next week, hopefully. That’s enough wiggle room right
A Cosplay Duel Tournament is happening at the Academy Festival. Asuka dresses up as the Harpie Lady, while Manjoume goes as XYZ-Dragon, but stepping up to duel Judai is a mysterious girl dressed up as Black Magician Girl. Judai duels this BlaMagi Girl, and he’s cornered as she summons Magician’s Valkyria and BlaMagi Girl herself from her cutesy and surprisingly powerful deck. The Academia supposedly lacks girls with her abilities, but…
Finally finished! Apologies for the delay, but here’s finalized!42! A fun little episode before we get to the heart of the Seven Stars arc, and one of my favorites. Also features the first [and only? D:] use of Elemental Hero Steam Healer, as well as Magician’s Valkyria post-Pyramid of Light; it was a neat combo by BMG to use Fire Sorcerer and lead into Dimension Fusion.
The main delay with the episode was the fixes/translations this go-around; being used to 37-41 having at most 10 fixes between them kinda spoiled me, haha. The bulk of them are hardsub-only translations, with a few ranging from restoring a missing mouth to fixing Judai’s hair in a Quality shot. List below the cut, as usual, but I did whip up this little video rundown if you’d like to see it that way!
Enjoy, folks! With this done, I think I’ll run in and get 43 done next to make up for the delay, with 5D’s dub-uncut!21 happening after. I know there’s one shot of Judai I’ll have to fix his hair in, but there probably won’t be too much there.

GX Episode 42 (WIP) - Final Fix/Translation Compilation
So, since it’s taken me longer than expected to finish finalizing my GX 42 subs–almost a month just on working to squeeze these edits into my life after I finished revising the script lol–I thought I should try something unique! I usually post about the edits I work on for these on my blog, under the #subbing-rambling tag and in the episode posts, but since it’s been so long, I thought I’d just make a video for those who haven’t been in the loop. Quite a few here, considering I think I just had a handful between 38-41 lol.
Let me know what you think; I should have the full episode ready this weekend!
So, this was something I started a few weeks ago–the official Spanish YGO channel on YouTube flubbed a few uploads of the 5D’s dub such that they ended up uploading a few episodes of the English dub instead of the Latin American dub (22-27)–but with none of 4Kids’s background music! Which meant that I could swoop in and re-insert the original Japanese soundtrack (which I did by matching each track to how it was looped in the episode), but I wanted to do more by also tweaking the dub itself so that not only was it matching the original footage, but the dialogue was more in line with the original dialogue timing-wise (since I couldn’t salvage what they changed, like Yusei asking about Goodwin talking to Akiza instead of JP!Yusei’s asking about his friends). Hence, the “dubbed uncut” gimmick here. I’ll be working on this alongside my finalized GX subs, so this should be fun.
Along with the more accurately-paced dialogue, I’ve also translated the OP/EN, the title cards, and previews (where I also throw in the corresponding lines to the Japanese preview from the next episode, if I’m able) to give this an actual “What if they actually did this uncut” feel. I go into more of the specifics with each episode’s own post, so check out the tag here to see what I’ve done with them! And with Duel Links having given us 5D’s, we also have the English VAs performing lines right from the Japanese version, so I’ll be doing my best to squeeze them in! Especially since the Latin American dub stopped after 4Kids gave them “Season 1″ of episodes 1-52, so no chants from 65+ unfortunately~ [But we get “The hopes coalesce into a single star!” so I’ll be happy]
Anywho, check ‘em out below, and stay tuned as I get them done! Italics denote an episode I haven’t gotten to uncutify yet.
Current Update (11/28/18): Episodes 23-26 are here, as the ones I’ve already finished! Though with the release of 5D’s!Duel Links, stay tuned for possible revisions, as well as me handling 21 and 22.
21.
Second Round Showdown – Part 2 (A Vengeful Bommer – The Trap of Sorrow, Chariot Pile)
22. The Profiler (A Disclosed Past! The Duel Profiler VS The Black Rose Witch)
“The Fate of the Signers! A Future Shown By the Crimson Dragon!”/“The Fortune Cup Finale, Part 2”
Everybody, listen!
Just in time for Thanksgiving dinner, here’s the newest installment of this short Dub-Uncut series! (Check out a quick preview here of the final thing~)
So, to catch people up, the official Spanish YGO channel on YouTube flubbed a few uploads of the 5D’s dub such that they ended up uploading a few episodes of the English dub instead of the Latin American dub (22-27)–but with none of 4Kids’s background music! Which meant that I could swoop in and re-insert the original Japanese soundtrack (which I did by matching each track to how it was looped in the episode), but I wanted to do more by also tweaking the dub itself so that not only was it matching the original footage, but the dialogue was more in line with the original dialogue timing-wise (since I couldn’t salvage what they changed). Hence, the “dubbed uncut” gimmick here.
This one was… interesting. There was a lot of added fluff between Jack and Yusei that 4Kids added, and I did my best to get a lot of it out; having the new 5D’s Duel Links voice lines and the other BGM-less episodes were a great help to that end, as they were when it came to adding back some lines that were removed in the dub (like card explanations being replaced by the Showcase Interruption), including a “dub” of the cut beginning of the episode showing Jack destroy Junk Warrior. There was nothing I could do about Jack’s “settle for second” bit as he plays The End of Storm since the BGM-less episodes and Duel Links don’t feature Jack properly explaining it. Likewise, when Yusei plays Meteor Stream, I kept Japanese Yusei there with subs explaining it since a Showcase Interruption cut it out. And the MC having his “Yusei WON” scene at the end cut down a bit in the dub meant I had to get creative; I used part of his line at the end of 21 as the Bommer duel ends and one from the start of 23 or end of 24 to fill the empty space, then combined it with what was actually kept in the dub, adding back some SFX as needed for the fireworks.
The plot-relevant stuff was dubbed well, except for the gaffe with calling Godwin the fifth Signer; I made that line “with the power of the fifth Signer” instead of “with the power I possess as the fifth Signer.” Akiza also calling Satellite “New Domino City” was weird but “fixed” with a side-note subtitle. And the dialogue pacing is pretty on-par with the Japanese version now, though it didn’t make sense to switch Lazar and Rex’s lines at the beginning to match, and I added back Trudge’s lines from 25 over his flashback despite the original silence since I couldn’t move Lazar’s “Maybe he had a point” to where Yaeger says something similar because of the SFX there.
The music recreation wasn’t too bad, but aside from the version of “Fierce Battle” used at the beginning being at a lower pitch, the uses of “Dragon” and “Legend of the People of the Stars” in this episode were a tiny bit sped-up compared to their album versions. I saved the full versions in this speed before I cut them around to match their use here, and I’ll post them on NAC when I release this.
Overall, quite happy with how this came out, but lemme know what you think, folks! Going back to work on GX 42 soon by translating that COSPLAY DUEL TOURNAMENT poster in the 4-5 other clips I need it for then getting started on it, then I’ll be going back to work on 5D’s 21-22 and revise 23-25 with the new Duel Links audio if there are spots for it before I get to start 27. Stay tuned, and happy Turkey Day!
