    kaiowut99:

The One Where Fans Pretty Much Get Their Judai VS Kaiba Duel. And The Steam Puns Waft Away From My Head

With the last string of serious duels causing Judai to be in a funk, Winged Kuriboh guides him to set foot into the Spirit World lying beyond the Hot Springs.  There, he meets the spirit of Kaibaman, who says that his Blue-Eyes card would like to battle him.  Judai and Kaibaman begin their duel, and against his Blue-Eyes and Knight of White Dragon, Judai soon finds himself dueling seriously.  And when his Ultimate is finally summoned…

It’s episode 34! Kind of a neat one, given that this is one of the first episodes that helps Judai reconcile the idea of dueling for keeps with his idea of dueling being all for fun.  Kind of curious to know where this development went in hindsight looking at Season 3… But that scene just before Kaibaman’s last turn with Impossible Victory playing, and then his beating Judai with his three BURRRRST STREAAAAMs, were great.

Also, it’s Judai VS basically Kaiba, which is neat.  And the animation gets surprisingly good, too.

This one didn’t take too long to handle since I’d already revised the script a few months back, so I just had to set up my timing video and retime the lines, but I did pick up on a few things I wanted to fix, as well as one thing I wanted to translate for the hardsub, which I’ll mention.  List below the cut, as usual~

Enjoy, all, and happy Friday! Stay tuned for the NAC post, which’ll also have 33 since lol, I totally forgot to post it before working on 34.  I’ll be working on 35 soon; we seem to be hitting the part of GX where they’re really good about not goofing with cards, so we’ll see if that helps trim down any delays.  Looking at about a 1-2-week window to finish it, hopefully.

All right, so with everything up-and-loaded over on Cloudy, the downside is that they don’t have a playlist function so I can organize everything like on Dailymotion.  Enter this post, where you’ll find all the links sorted out by seasons! I’ll be updating it as I upload my finalized Season 1 episodes in the coming weeks, so check the original post periodically or keep an eye on the notes for any reblogs of it I do so you’re aware of any updates.  Also, keep in mind that you can download these from NAC, since I post all my downloads there!

If you would rather download, you can also use this torrent set up by rhodanum with all of my subbed episodes, including my updated Season 3 subs (which you won’t find in other torrents): http://bit.ly/1dVusa2

(Before you go on here, if you don’t mind, would you please take a minute to sign this petition I’ve set up to get GX’s unreleased music tracks released? A lot of GX wouldn’t be as good as it was without the unreleased music, and it’s still disappointing that the delayed Sound Duel 2 didn’t cover much of them.  Fans got ZeXal an unexpected Sound Duel 5, so we’re trying to do the same for GX here! Spread the word if you can, too!)

Also, Crunchyroll has begun to roll out official GX subs as of 8/1/15! This is excellent news for the fandom, and while you’re more than welcome to continue watching my subs, be sure to give their subs at least one watch just to show support for the official release!

To keep the html’d list consistent, season breaks are denoted like this; arc breaks are in italics.

UPDATE (1/19/18): Happy new year, everyone; finalized!Episodes 1-34 now on the list! For episodes 29-33: for a twist, given the tone shift here and the visuals of the next batch of OP/EN, I decided to use 99% and Wake Up Your Heart in only my hardsubs a bit earlier than they were used originally (episode 34) for the match in tone; I know not everyone will see it as a nice change, so I’ve also included links to the versions I did with OP/EN 1 as originally done.  For the links I’ll post on NAC, I’ll include both as well as the DVDRip, which will still use OP/EN 1.  As of episode 34, we’ll be sticking with just 99% and WUYH.

If you see any busted links, shoot me an ask and I’ll fix it up! Make sure you check the original post first, though; I may have already fixed it. :P

    kaiowut99:

The One With the Bats, ft. Sibling Feels (Part 2)  [OP/EN 1 Version]

Having defeated Chronos, Camula chooses to make her next opponent one whose looks tickle her fancy: the Kaiser.  And so, it’s Kaiser Ryou VS Camula.  The Kaiser is merciless from the outset, attacking with a Power-Bond-fortified Cyber End Dragon, but with her full knowledge of his deck, Camula avoids it.  Mixing up his attacks with Cyber Barrier Dragon and Cyber Laser Dragon, he corners Camula, but when she uses the Phantasm Gate Magic Card, she employs an unfair strategy through her power of darkness…

Did I say I’d have this and 33 ready by the holidays for everyone? …well, we’re still doing Three Kings’ Day, right? ^^; Here’s 32 for the time being while 33 gets processed on Videa, which is probably my favorite VS Camula episode because of the Ryou/Shou development.  Poor Shou thinking so little of himself makes you really appreciate how he comes into his own in the later arcs, and that dynamic is one of the things GX did best, imo.  The animation and art this episode is also nice, and this is the first episode to use one of my favorite GX music tracks, which I’ve called “The Rival’s Onslaught.” That use of Camula’s Theme right as she goes for the finisher, though… Huh, it just got a bit chilly here. where’s my sound duel 3 marvelous

Not much in the way of fixes this time (most of the time went to 33 on that front), but they’re down below the cut, as usual, for the curious.

Enjoy; I’ll post 33 once Videa has it converted, and I should have them both up on NAC in the next day or two! I’ve already revised 34′s script when I tidied it up for GoldenUmi’s release of the Duel Selection remastered episode last year, so that should be a quicker release in the next week or two.

    kaiowut99:

The One With the Bats, ft. The Shining Flare Wingman (Part 3)  [OP/EN 1 Version]

Receiving a Dark Item from Fubuki, a rejuvenated Judai challenges Camula to a duel.  Judai summons Tempester (ATK/ 2800), and Camula uses her Phantasm Gate to try and sacrifice Asuka and the others, but Judai’s Dark Item prevents it.  Offering herself, she steals Tempester and gets Judai’s Life to 1200 all at once.  With Camula having stolen glances at his deck, Judai’s strategies won’t work…

And here’s 33! Closing out the Camula battle, we have Judai stepping up to save Chronos and Ryou from their doll prisons, debuting a new badass Fusion Monster in the process, while we also get Camula’s backstory and how she met our Big Bad (who looks surprisingly buff there…); not a bad episode.  This is also the last we’ll hear of Kanako Irie until she returns in Season 3 to voice another favorite of mine.  Also, I always wondered why they never printed her Vampire/Undead support cards… Also also, honorable mention to Camula’s VA in the dub, Bella Hudson, for actually doing a good job voicing her, imo; the accent and voice were fitting.  Just wish she had better dialogue to work with, as I do with almost all their VAs…

A few fixes here, one of which was done while working on 32′s preview for 33, below the cut as usual.

Enjoy! As mentioned in 32′s post, I revised 34′s script sometime last year for GoldenUmi’s Duel Selection release of the remastered episode, so I should have it out quicker.

    kaiowut99:

The One With the Bats (Part 1) [OP/EN 1 Version]

A beautiful yet eerie vampire woman named Camula has landed as the second assassin.  Judai won his last bout, but is resting after exhausting his strength in his Duel of Darkness.  Instructor Chronos hoped to escape her but fails to do so, causing a duel between him and Camula.  Chronos challenges her with his “Antique Gear”-focused Dark Ages Deck, while Camula counters with a Vampire Deck.  A Duel of Darkness begins–where the loser will become a doll.

Apologies for the delay on this one! Had a few more bits of life than usual sprinkled into my editing process, but we’re here, kicking off the second of our Seven Stars’ entries with Camula, one of my favorites.  Her duel with Chronos is interesting to watch, as Chronos finds his worldview gradually shattered by a thing he didn’t believe existed, but his reasoning for it is another reason why Chronos is an interesting character.  And that scene with “Impossible Victory” playing at the end… This is also Kanako Irie’s first role in GX as Camula, before she eventually returns in Season 3 as another gem of a character that most of us love.

There were a few card fixes to apply here, along with some simple quality-of-watching fixes that slipped by the staff, but nothing too major; list below the cut, as usual.

Enjoy, folks; I’ll be seeing about doubling up with 32 and 33 to get them done as a little holiday gift for everyone who’s still following these finalizings to make up for the recent delays a bit.  Expect 31 on NAC sometime tomorrow!

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX Episode 29 Subbed (Finalized)

    kaiowut99:

The One Where Things Get Heated (Part 1) [OP/EN 1 Version]

To protect three cards hidden within the Academia from the hands of seven assassins known as the “Seven Stars,” Judai and co are given seven keys by the Principal.  The first of the assassins, “Darkness,” shows himself to Judai, and the two duel in a Duel of Darkness in which the loser’s soul is sealed within a card, and Shou and Hayato are also taken as hostages.  Darkness summons Red-Eyes Black Dragon and overwhelms Judai…

So I didn’t expect to end up so delayed on this one… But here we are! We kick off the Seven Stars arc with exposition on our new Phantasm Cards and Judai starting his duel against the first of the Seven, as GX starts to take a less lighthearted route compared to our road thus far.  I personally enjoy the arc; there are some good duels and character moments here (Judai especially, as it’s his first taste of duels being played with stakes).

As we’re starting the arc here, I thought I’d do something unique with my finalized releases for the next few episodes.  See, 99% and Wake Up Your Heart, the next OP/EN duo, officially start in episode 34, which is the Kaibaman episode.  Given the imagery in 99% and how the general tone shifts starting in this episode (and also, 4Kids officially gave the show a subtitle in dub!29), I always had the feeling that, like with Burn! in ARC-V, it was meant to start earlier but didn’t.  So, I wanted to start 99% and WUYH a bit earlier with this episode for my hardsubs; I’ll still be releasing the scripts with the DVDRips as originally presented.  Though, since I’m aware that not everyone will be up for this tweak, I’ll also be releasing a hardsub with OP/EN 1 still in and plugging them both into my GX Masterpost.  You’ll find said releases on NAC.

And I’d be remiss if I didn’t have some fixes done for this episode, which were partly what led to the unintended delay, lol.  Though, luckily, it wasn’t that many to work with.  List below the cut, as usual!

    Enjoy!

    kaiowut99:

The One Where Things Get Heated (Part 2) [OP/EN 1 Version]

Judai faces a hurdle at 700LP against 3000.  As he takes damage, Shou and Hayato inch closer to being scorched as they take the resulting mental toll.  Darkness finally summons Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon, while Judai cleverly uses Wildman and the Wild Half Magic Card to reduce the Red-Eyes’s power, but…

And here’s Part 2, which I tried to get done quickly after finishing 29 last week for a double-release! Judai gets back into this with the looming threat of Shou and Hayato meeting hot lava, only to have Darkness bring out his real ace in Red-Eyes Darkness.  This was a really good intro episode for it, and overall, the duel played out pretty entertainingly through the episode.  Judai brings out a new Fusion Hero that’s pretty badass, and it leads us to a big reveal at the end that’s been episodes in the making.  Which makes for a touching little scene that the dub happens to ruin.

I heard you were also interested in fixes? Well, some of you, I’m sure, haha.  Luckily, I covered a few fixes when I prepped the preview for 29, so I just added seven more to the list, a few of which were easy-peasy to implement. List below the cut, as usual!

Also, quick Translation Note: when Judai attacks with Wild Jaggyman, he declares his attack on the two REDDs, but we see WJ also attack Spear Dragon; this is because of his effect making him attack all opposing Monsters once each.  But he only needed to attack the two REDDs to win, making Spear Dragon more just for show.  That said, kudos to the dub for addressing this by having Jaden say he’ll attack all three.

Enjoy; hopefully I’ll get to start 31 soon, as the Camula episodes are some of my favorites in GX.  It’ll be nice to revisit them.

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX Episode 28 Subbed - Finalized

    kaiowut99:

The One With the Grave Situation (Part 2) (Alternatively based on this cap: Duel Like An Egyptian)

Judai and the Gravekeeper Chief continue their duel.  Judai’s evolve-Winged-Kuriboh combo gets blocked off, causing him to lose his chance at a comeback just as the Gravekeeper Chief summons himself to the field.  Once he does, Judai reestablishes himself and draws Edgeman.  However, as a result of lacking sacrifices, he can’t summon him…

And here’s episode 28! Wraps up our brief exposure to this alternate world as Judai finishes his duel with the Chief.  Features Necrodarkman’s first appearance and a few cool shots of Judai.  Don’t go missing the land of three suns too much…  (Also, fun fact: the nice bit about Judai looking up to Yugi and his winning “lots of Duels of Darkness” was rewritten in the dub.  For reasons I can’t explain. *shrug*)

Only four fixes this time, three card-related and one minor one involving lip-flaps; details below the cut, as usual.  I’ll be starting work on 29 later this week, getting us finally into the Seven Stars arc, which I’ve been looking forward to finalizing. I’ll have 28 posted onto NAC tomorrow.  Enjoy!

    kaiowut99:

Update (7/16/17): ALL THE LINKS HAVE BEEN UPDATED! It seems Cloudy had issues with most of the MKV files I originally uploaded for this, so back in March 2016, I spent a few days resyncing the uncut dub’s audio to the Japanese DVD rips (Zero-Raws for 1-4, then Astral_Union’s for 5-9 since ZR had some weird frame rate issue going there).  I also tweaked the audio a bit; for one, I added back the more human-like monster sounds (Cyclops/Hitotsu-Me Giant, Crocodilus, etc) that were cut for some reason where no one was speaking over them.  And I also made the prologue about the History of Gaming consistent through all nine episodes (originally, it’d either be scripted slightly differently or had different inflections) by using the prologue as used in episode 8, which was much closer to the original’s style.  And today, I decided to reupload these to Videa.hu because Cloudy’s gotten a bit unreliable lately.  I’ll post these up for download on NAC sometime soon, so stay tuned.  Let me know if you find that the links are down, and always check the original post!

So I had these lying around and, after some discussion earlier, decided to upload them.  This is the uncut dub 4Kids produced with FUNimation way back in… *google-fu* 2004 WHOA WHAT HOLD ON TEN+ YEARS AGO?! WHAT–I MEAN HOW?! :O

*ahem* Anywho, yeah, produced back in 2004.  This dub kept the original music and OP/EN, card designs, as well as the original dialogue.  How well it was adapted is now up to you to judge. :P Some original names were also kept in spots (like Sugoroku over Solomon), while one instance sounds good in theory, but not so much in practice lol.  It only went on for nine episodes before the plug was pulled, with a fourth DVD going up to 12 already planned.  The main excuse tossed around was that 4Kids didn’t want them to compete with sales of the dub DVDs (while, while stupid, given it was 4Kids at the time…), but after looking it up on the Wikia and seeing a possible legal rights issue listed there, that seems a lot more plausible.  Especially given the contract issues with Yugi’s Seiyuu, Shunsuke Kazama, that were only recently cleared up IIRC for the Crunchyroll subs.  And since the Japanese-audio versions were on the DVDs too, it does make sense.  But who knows, maybe with the DM remaster going on, they’ll reconsider resparking the project.

But anywho, enough backstory.  Here you go, guys; enjoy!

For more uncut episodes, you can look into watching the Singapore dub; also keeps the original music and dialogue, but they use the dub names and the voices/acting (but mostly the voices) can be a bit wacky at times, DUDE! Still, they made it up to Mai VS Marik at last check, so they have that working for them.  It was up on Dailymotion, but currently only two episodes from it are up.

Also, while we’re on the topic, while Googling for the Singapore dub, I dug up this petition asking 4K and Konami to consider an uncut redub.  It was made last summer; why not try and boost it? :D (Also, we should all mention the DM remaster going on in Japan as a good excuse to do it lol)

    kaiowut99:

And finally got the subbed version re-uploaded!

This is Japanese!BBT after tons of audio editing and a rescored soundtrack to include more tunes from GX and DM that the official version didn’t include, opting instead for more 5D’s music than anything (which, while I love the 5D’s tunes, considering it’s a crossover/anniversary movie, sharing the love would’ve been cool).  Sparked by the disappointment most fans felt over at Janime/NeoArkCradle over that, suggestions were brought up, GoldenUmi from GX_ST gave me audio tracks to work with, I worked some editing magic to get rid of most of the leftover music, timed the new songs, leveled them out volume-wise and added some SFX where needed, and BOOM goes the dynamite.  It’s not entirely perfect, though, given said editing and having lost the original tracks to try and fix it with, but it’s at least watchable.

    Tracklist/Dubbed version

(I did tweak the dialogue a bit to match the original more, moreso in the beginning by switching some lines around or muting others (and just realized I missed a good chance with Jaden’s “about to get closer!” line in the first scene), and I added back monster sounds for the most part.  Some parts might sound like they’re missing SFX; I really just put more effort into making the Japanese version sound good, lol.)

Subs originally by GX_ST/TnKP, edited by me.

Enjoy! Hope that helps, neoxyzero! :)

(You can also download this over at NAC!)
