    Hey, guys!

So, I made a post a while back about how, since I’d been going through an unemployment stint, I’d been meaning to look into translation commissions and funding donations to help with costs I have at home.  I’m making a new one because I’ve been going through another bout for the last two months, and both the unemployment benefits I’d been receiving since I lost my job last October 2015 ran out, and I’ve also already run through the last paychecks I’d saved from my last temp job.  My bank account is actually at $1.50 right now (;_;), and in the next three days, I have my $47 phone bill, another bill or two, and some subway travel costs–with some groceries ideally–as I try to land interviews (I already have one lined up for Monday), and I’m super worried about my account being overdrawn.  Luckily, my loans are on a forbearance because of being unemployed for now.  I’ve asked a few people in my family for help over the last few weeks for other expenses and owe them about $100 that I’ll pay back as soon as I get a new job, but they won’t be able to help me that much.

So, I wanted to ask, if I’ve helped you enjoy GX through my translations all these years, see what the differences are between Japanese and English 5D’s (still ongoing as I restore my comparisons), you enjoy my song translations, other things I’ve done, or just seeing me on your dash, if anyone has any money at all you can offer through PayPal? It’d be a great help; if not, even a signal boost would be great! Like I said, I’m open to some translation commissions too, be it songs or some manga scans/interviews/etc? I’m also open to trying to mix for you if you have any audio projects you’re working on, like fandubs or the like (I’m currently working on rescoring DBZKai’s dub with YGO!5D’s music [currently on episode 4], and I also rescored Bonds Beyond Time with a more series-inclusive soundtrack).  I could also try what-ifs (example: a DBZKai episode or clip with ARC-V music) depending lol.  Not sure what good rates are for all that, though, so if you happen to know what someone who’s offered the same charged, let me know and I could work off of that! For now, I’ll say maybe… for songs:TV-Size: $2; Full: $5?

Thanks for reading this; any and all help would be very much appreciated!

    GX 24 - Manjoume’s Coming Back (WIP)

So I think I should finally give you guys a progress report on this, haha.

First off, huge thanks to @alicethedragonvalkyrie for all her hard work wiping off the text on soon-to-be all 239-or-so frames in this sponsor clip over the last couple of months! Her working on it gave me a great chance to get my stuff ready for subbing ARC-V, and now that she’s almost done, I thought I’d start working her edits into the footage off-and-on over the last few weeks, with a real buckling-down happening in the last week.  While I did, I worked with the original footage to make things look smooth overall–like moving the clouds in one frame across the whole “Manjoume’s back” shot and masking in Manjoume on top as needed–and I like how it looks so far.   Then I just slapped on the banner text and audio so you’d get a glimpse at how it’d look in-episode!

The second clip isn’t fully done yet, which is why it looks messy; I’ll go back into it soon as Alice finishes the rest of the frames.  While I wait, I’ll look into prepping the GX 24-26 scripts so I’ll be able to knock them out relatively quickly once we’re good to go there, with another prepwork dive into ARC-V sprinkled here/there.  I’ve also been tapped to help out with another project that might make waves soon, so stay tuned~

    ARC-V Ep. 01 - A Strong Foreboding (WIP #4… I think. i lost count)

And after 84 years, it’s finally alive! I really wish I knew that all I needed to do to make that “Strong Ishijima” text curve along the banner was free transform + click the “warp” button, haha.  So yeah, the poster’s now fully translated; all that’s left is to recreate the pan, then mask the translations into the video through Vegas.  Which should be a cakewalk compared to this, haha.  But hey, learning experiences are fun!

After that, I’ll translate the Yusho poster on the wall a bit earlier on, then the shot of the building behind crying Yuya to translate later.  Since stitching this pan together in Photoshop did go well, I might try the billboards in the beginning one more time, too.  But first, @alicethedragonvalkyrie has given me some frames to work with in GX 24 (for that Manjoume post-credit scene), so I’ll go back and get some more work on that done first.  Apologies for things being slow on the GX front, guys! Once I start prepping things with that clip, I’m going to go ahead and start prepping things for the next few episodes–that way, when I get back to it, I can churn more episodes out a bit quicker to make up for time, lol.

    ARC-V #01 - A Strong Foreboding (WIP #3)

So, got back to this today after translating the text a week or two ago, and managed to slap on all the text I needed! I was able to transcribe much of it thanks to Yami’s 1080p upload of episode 1, which had the text much clearer, and figured out what little was left after some Googling for similar terms.  Guessing was involved for the bottom left ad for the Fan-Mingle Match, where I guessed at the gist of it to word the lower sentence ends to make sense.  Also had an interesting time trying to pick different fonts to go with the different ads, haha.  But it looks pretty good to me (and hopefully you guys; open the image in a new tab to see all the text!), so now, it’s just a matter of working it into the video…

…after I figure out how I can make that “Strong Ishijima Fan Appreciation Day” line curve the way I need it to.  I could still use some tips there, if any Photoshoppers have any, lol.  Applying a warp doesn’t work too well because getting the curve right on one end ruins it on the other.  Maybe if I could somehow pin the text to each end of the curve somehow…

    ARC-V 01 - A Strong Foreboding (WIP #2)

So, now that I’ve blanked the full poster, I thought I’d take care of the Yuya/ Special Match ad so I can just paste it in.  But wasn’t sure if I should go with the comma or not here, so I wanted to get a few opinions, lol.  Also tried to get it all centered well, and Yuya’s name feels slightly off in the no-comma one…

    kaiowut99:

So I posted the other day about doing some minor text editing in BelieveXBelieve’s video to translate “Kaba” to “Hippo on one of the billboards;” I spent today finalizing that, and fixing up my editing-in of Sawatari’s unrevealed cards from my last upload, and getting the credits and karaoke finalized, so BelievexBelieve V1 is all good to go!

I’ve also had One Step ready to go for a month or two now, but wanted to wait for Jake, the guy who set me up on BXB’s styling, to look over my script.  Since it’s been a while, and I do think it looks good as is, I tweaked some lines here/there, and now One Step’s all good to go; this is the version for episode 1.

Lemme know what you guys think! Meanwhile, with those done, I’ll start to look into the script and stuff I want to translate in episode 1.

…aaafter I get some ground broken on GX 24, finally.  Those of you following my GX subs may’ve seen me post about prepping for ARC-V while some editing was done for a Manjoume post-credit scene that was TV-only.  Unfortunately, said editing couldn’t be done–@alicethedragonvalkyrie did a great job for one of the shots, but the other editors I reached out to couldn’t help out due to life kicking into gear–so I think I’ll just slap my “Just After This” stuff on the clip and work with it, text and all.  As much as it’d bug me having sponsor text there, it’s a nice shot that’s worth showing off, lol.

So, I’ll focus on getting 24-26 done a little quicker to make up for the delay there, and just knock out the THUNDER!! episodes, then I’ll do more for ARC-V #1.  Stay tuned!

The One Where I Start Doing A Thing (WIP #2)

(View here, since Dailymotion took it down)

So, I’ve been slowly working more on this! Just hit the commercial break, and as I said before, I managed to edit out the dub’s music to add on the original OST, while also editing the dialogue to play more in line with the original a bit more (meaning some lines were shortened (like with Henrietta scolding Dipper) or muted (and with scoffs/whatnot, I might recycle them in spots))  Notably, I also made Julia’s lines as Yuzu’s reaching for the Action Card fuzzy like they should’ve been.  I also added other SFX as needed to make it sound a bit more natural; luckily, using a vocal remover on the DVD audio let me hold onto most of the original SFX pretty much perfectly (ambient and all, which meant I was also able to get good rips of the alternate tracks in this half/abrupt cuts to work with).  Compare it with the first WIP vid I made, and you’ll see the difference, lol.

I started here since episode 10’s a personal favorite, and the dub was also surprisingly good for its first half.  And this actually came out sounding pretty good! If only they could’ve officially stuck with the original music… Also, not entirely sure what I’m going for with the footage haha.  I started out trying to make it an alternate dub track, then decided to keep some shots they cut (like Yuzu flying after Diamond first hits her directly) but then cut others since they were undubbed (like Sora explaining Hand Fusion, which I had no fluffed-up dialogue to add there) and fixed the music accordingly.  Maybe I’ll just make it another track for the raw and just leave in the original audio… Hmm.

Lemme know what you think, haha.

(Check out my dub/sub comparison for episode 10 here!)

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters - 4Kids Uncut Dub Masterpost!

    kaiowut99:

    image

[Update (3/31/16): ALL THE LINKS HAVE BEEN UPDATED! It seems Cloudy had issues with most of the MKV files I originally uploaded for this, so I spent a few days resyncing the uncut dub’s audio to the Japanese DVD rips (Zero-Raws for 1-4, then Astral_Union’s for 5-9 since ZR had some weird frame rate issue going there).  I also tweaked the audio a bit; for one, I added back the more human-like monster sounds (Cyclops/Hitotsu-Me Giant, Crocodilus, etc) that were cut for some reason where no one was speaking over them.  And I also made the prologue about the History of Gaming consistent through all nine episodes (originally, it’d either be scripted slightly differently or had different inflections) by using the prologue as used in episode 8, which was much closer to the original’s style.  The voices may not match the lip-flaps exactly (since I used the Japanese raws [I don’t have the uncut dub as originally released so I dunno if they’d originally edited the flaps]; I used music/SFX to guide my timing), but it shouldn’t be too distracting since the SFX and all should match.  I’ll post these up for download on NAC in the next day or two, so stay tuned.  Let me know if the links are down, and always check the original post!

So I had these lying around and, after some discussion earlier, decided to upload them.  This is the uncut dub 4Kids produced with FUNimation way back in… *google-fu* 2004 WHOA WHAT HOLD ON TEN+ YEARS AGO?! WHAT–I MEAN HOW?! :O

*ahem* Anywho, yeah, produced back in 2004.  This dub kept the original music and OP/EN, card designs, as well as the original dialogue.  How well it was adapted is now up to you to judge. :P Some original names were also kept in spots (like Sugoroku over Solomon), while one instance sounds good in theory, but not so much in practice lol.  It only went on for nine episodes before the plug was pulled, with a fourth DVD going up to 12 already planned.  The main excuse tossed around was that 4Kids didn’t want them to compete with sales of the dub DVDs (while, while stupid, given it was 4Kids at the time…), but after looking it up on the Wikia and seeing a possible legal rights issue listed there, that seems a lot more plausible.  Especially given the contract issues with Yugi’s Seiyuu, Shunsuke Kazama, that were only recently cleared up IIRC for the Crunchyroll subs.  And since the Japanese-audio versions were on the DVDs too, it does make sense.  But who knows, maybe with the DM remaster going on, they’ll reconsider resparking the project.

But anywho, enough backstory.  Here you go, guys; enjoy!

For more uncut episodes, you can look into watching the Singapore dub; also keeps the original music and dialogue, but they use the dub names and the voices/acting (but mostly the voices) can be a bit wacky at times, DUDE! Still, they made it up to Mai VS Marik at last check, so they have that working for them.  It was up on Dailymotion, but currently only two episodes from it are up.

Also, while we’re on the topic, while Googling for the Singapore dub, I dug up this petition asking 4K and Konami to consider an uncut redub.  It was made last summer; why not try and boost it? :D (Also, we should all mention the DM remaster going on in Japan as a good excuse to do it lol)

    image

All right, so with everything up-and-loaded over on Cloudy, the downside is that they don’t have a playlist function so I can organize everything like on Dailymotion.  Enter this post, where you’ll find all the links sorted out by seasons! I’ll be updating it as I upload my finalized Season 1 episodes in the coming weeks, so check the original post periodically or keep an eye on the notes for any reblogs of it I do so you’re aware of any updates.  Also, keep in mind that you can download these from NAC, since I post all my downloads there!

If you would rather download, you can also use this torrent set up by rhodanum with all of my subbed episodes, including my updated Season 3 subs (which you won’t find in other torrents): http://bit.ly/1dVusa2

(Before you go on here, if you don’t mind, would you please take a minute to sign this petition I’ve set up to get GX’s unreleased music tracks released? A lot of GX wouldn’t be as good as it was without the unreleased music, and it’s still disappointing that the delayed Sound Duel 2 didn’t cover much of them.  Fans got ZeXal an unexpected Sound Duel 5, so we’re trying to do the same for GX here! Spread the word if you can, too!)

Also, Crunchyroll has begun to roll out official GX subs as of 8/1/15! This is excellent news for the fandom, and while you’re more than welcome to continue watching my subs, be sure to give their subs at least one watch just to show support for the official release! You can even have it on mute in the background!

To keep the html’d list consistent, season breaks are denoted like this; arc breaks are in italics.

UPDATE (9/4/16): Finalized!Episodes 1-23 now on the list! If you see any busted links, shoot me an ask and I’ll fix it up! Make sure you check the original post first, though; I may have already fixed it. :P

    kaiowut99:

The One Where Things Are Chill, Man

Wanting to get rid of Judai, Chronos puts Motegi–his ultimate weapon–into action.  It’s said that those who duel Motegi become unable to duel again. Judai and Motegi duel, and the Moke Moke summoned by Motegi has 300 ATK and feels very unreliable.  But as he adds on Angered Moke Moke and King Moke Moke to change its form, it becomes a powerful 3000-ATK monster that threatens Judai.  Meanwhile, as Asuka and the others watch on, they start losing their will to fight.

And 23′s all done! This is a fun one, given the premise; as @morningmoon so aptly put it, it’s “that time there was a child with some sorta laziness aura that required a sorta exo-skeleton space suit to prevent getting caught up in his rhythm, wtf.” Also, he was apparently a #1 student.  But hey, we’ve got Manjoume back in action for the next few episodes as he makes his thunderous comeback, so a nice breather–filled with Chronos’s cocky shenanigans (heh)–is nice.  Side-note: the Crunchyroll subs were all over here.  Still watchable, but slightly off compared to what I’ve seen in general as I’ve worked on these.

Fix-wise, there were only six (all card fixes), but I missed one that I caught as I timed the episode’s script (which I finished last weekend), so that’s what caused the extra delay this week.  All below the cut, as usual.  Enjoy!

Sooo… with this done, I’ll do some basic prep for episode 24; the main thing holding it up right now is I asked @juslaynice and @prismatic-bell–as well as @alicethedragonvalkyrie–for some Photoshopping magic to get rid of the text on this cool Manjoume clip that played at the end of 24′s TV airing during the sponsor bit that was all-new footage, but didn’t get released on the DVDs.  Since that’s the case, I thought it’d be cool to get it textless’d so I could add the “Thanks for watching!” text and add it to the DVDRip, assuming that juslaynice and prismatic-bell can do it.  If they can’t (given there’s 150-200 frames involved, I know it’s an undertaking), I could just slap the “Thanks for Watching!” text on anyway as in the clip there, but the sponsor text would bug me; if people don’t mind it, I’ll do that.  Or I may just do a “best-of” compilation for Manjoume scenes so far; I’ll check in and see how they’re feeling about it.  I just don’t get why a special scene like this didn’t get released somehow, lol.

Meanwhile, once I do my basic 24 prepwork, I’ll probably try timing out a script for ARC-V episode 1 to get that project finally started while they get stuff done. :D Still waiting on some help to better encode the DVD raws, but we’ll see there, lol.
