    kaiowut99:

The One Where Things Are Chill, Man

Wanting to get rid of Judai, Chronos puts Motegi–his ultimate weapon–into action.  It’s said that those who duel Motegi become unable to duel again. Judai and Motegi duel, and the Moke Moke summoned by Motegi has 300 ATK and feels very unreliable.  But as he adds on Angered Moke Moke and King Moke Moke to change its form, it becomes a powerful 3000-ATK monster that threatens Judai.  Meanwhile, as Asuka and the others watch on, they start losing their will to fight.

And 23′s all done! This is a fun one, given the premise; as @morningmoon so aptly put it, it’s “that time there was a child with some sorta laziness aura that required a sorta exo-skeleton space suit to prevent getting caught up in his rhythm, wtf.” Also, he was apparently a #1 student.  But hey, we’ve got Manjoume back in action for the next few episodes as he makes his thunderous comeback, so a nice breather–filled with Chronos’s cocky shenanigans (heh)–is nice.  Side-note: the Crunchyroll subs were all over here.  Still watchable, but slightly off compared to what I’ve seen in general as I’ve worked on these.

Fix-wise, there were only six (all card fixes), but I missed one that I caught as I timed the episode’s script (which I finished last weekend), so that’s what caused the extra delay this week.  All below the cut, as usual.  Enjoy!

Sooo… with this done, I’ll do some basic prep for episode 24; the main thing holding it up right now is I asked @juslaynice and @prismatic-bell–as well as @alicethedragonvalkyrie–for some Photoshopping magic to get rid of the text on this cool Manjoume clip that played at the end of 24′s TV airing during the sponsor bit that was all-new footage, but didn’t get released on the DVDs.  Since that’s the case, I thought it’d be cool to get it textless’d so I could add the “Thanks for watching!” text and add it to the DVDRip, assuming that juslaynice and prismatic-bell can do it.  If they can’t (given there’s 150-200 frames involved, I know it’s an undertaking), I could just slap the “Thanks for Watching!” text on anyway as in the clip there, but the sponsor text would bug me; if people don’t mind it, I’ll do that.  Or I may just do a “best-of” compilation for Manjoume scenes so far; I’ll check in and see how they’re feeling about it.  I just don’t get why a special scene like this didn’t get released somehow, lol.

Meanwhile, once I do my basic 24 prepwork, I’ll probably try timing out a script for ARC-V episode 1 to get that project finally started while they get stuff done. :D Still waiting on some help to better encode the DVD raws, but we’ll see there, lol.

  • Vision - Full Singable Translation + Romaji

    kaiowut99:

And here’s my translation for Vision; you can definitely get Yuya vibes out of this song.  I updated my TV-size lyrics a bit for singability as I added the rest of the song, and I also transcribed the Japanese lyrics.  There’s the one lyric about “overlapping places” that I decided to go with “overlay” for for an Xyz arc nod.

Enjoy, and feel free to use for fandubs or what have you!

  • Light of Hope - Full Singable Translation + Romaji

    kaiowut99:

Finally finished this up! I’m liking how it came out during the second half–basically getting through a storm of despair and wanting to be free of it when a light of hope shines through the clouds–and overall, it’s a good motivational tune, so I tried to convey that in the lyrics.  I also updated some of the early lyrics from my TV-size translation to match the rhyme scheme I worked with for the later half or to be a bit smoother to sing.  Singing the dual-voice bridges is suffering though. D:

Enjoy, and feel free to use for fandubs/whatever! I may try to dub these myself sometime soon; this and Vision were really fun to translate, lol.

The One Where I Start Doing A Thing (WIP #2)

(View here, since Dailymotion took it down)

So, I’ve been slowly working more on this! Just hit the commercial break, and as I said before, I managed to edit out the dub’s music to add on the original OST, while also editing the dialogue to play more in line with the original a bit more (meaning some lines were shortened (like with Henrietta scolding Dipper) or muted (and with scoffs/whatnot, I might recycle them in spots))  Notably, I also made Julia’s lines as Yuzu’s reaching for the Action Card fuzzy like they should’ve been.  I also added other SFX as needed to make it sound a bit more natural; luckily, using a vocal remover on the DVD audio let me hold onto most of the original SFX pretty much perfectly (ambient and all, which meant I was also able to get good rips of the alternate tracks in this half/abrupt cuts to work with).  Compare it with the first WIP vid I made, and you’ll see the difference, lol.

I started here since episode 10’s a personal favorite, and the dub was also surprisingly good for its first half.  And this actually came out sounding pretty good! If only they could’ve officially stuck with the original music… Also, not entirely sure what I’m going for with the footage haha.  I started out trying to make it an alternate dub track, then decided to keep some shots they cut (like Yuzu flying after Diamond first hits her directly) but then cut others since they were undubbed (like Sora explaining Hand Fusion, which I had no fluffed-up dialogue to add there) and fixed the music accordingly.  Maybe I’ll just make it another track for the raw and just leave in the original audio… Hmm.

Lemme know what you think, haha.

    kaiowut99:

    Hey, guys!

So, a while back, I got the idea to eventually try to get into subbing ARC-V myself; I’ve been really enjoying the show, and I’ve been wanting to bring more accuracy to the subs that are already out.  I joked before that I’d start when I hit 777 followers (referencing the 777th YGO episode celebrations), but a few weeks ago…

    image

…it happened, haha.  (Thanks to everyone who’s been following me! I’ve gained 10 more since, but I appreciate everyone sticking around, even as I post about all the different stuff I’m working on, haha.)

So yeah, I’ve spent the last few months prepping, whipping up scripts for the OP and EN, getting raws together, etc (main reason I was also delaying it was because I was waiting for DVD raws to work with, given animation touch-ups and all [and hopefully they’ll fix Kite’s “Trap” error]).  I’m starting from the beginning, and I’m planning to go into it the same as I do my GX subs: translating the OP/ENs, the title card, the previews, etc.  And I’ve made some headway; I’ve finished the karaoke for BelieveXBelieve (and lemme tell you, that was an adventure) and have finished translating the whole OP, which you can check out here! (May just do a minor tweak or two to it now, but that’s what you can expect) I just need to work on the karaoke for One Step, and that’ll be good to go, too.  Special thanks to Jake759 (who’s helped me with GX’s textless title cards) for recreating the credits’ flashing effects and helping with the script I’ll use for the title card.

Planning to likely to work on it two-GX-one-ARC-V for the time being, as GX will be a higher priority while I finalize my scripts (and I’d also like to work more on my DBZKai/5D’s project), but I’m definitely looking forward to this.  And hopefully you guys are, too. :)

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX Episode 21 Subbed - Finalized

    kaiowut99:

The One Where the Thing Gets Stopped

To decide the Academia’s delegate for the Academy Face-Off Duel, a duel occurs between Judai and Misawa.  Misawa prepares his seventh deck–based on detailed calculations–in order to thwart Judai.  While scuffling with Misawa’s Water Dragon, Judai faces him with his E-Heroes, but he plays right into Misawa’s strategy.  Elsewhere, a man out to get rich quick by making a scoop out of the academy’s mysteries is lurking about when he comes into contact with Judai.

Episode 21! This was a fun one; this duel’s one of my favorites because of Judai and Misawa’s early rivalry, and it’s a shame it went the way it did.  It was actually pretty clever of Misawa to use Cursed Seal to stop Fusion, and like Misawa points out, Judai’s easy to beat if you strip him of being able to fuse, lol.  Kunisaki’s also interesting–seems his character could be a bit like Koyou in the manga from how he apparently used E-Heroes in that flashback where he loses to Kaiba, except for the lack of connection to Judai.  We’ll see a bit more about him next episode, but it’s also nice that he let us get a nice moment of Hayato showing his development so far.

And, of course, this episode also saw a few more fixes! Ten all together; all but one involved cards, and some of those were fun to try and do given the ghosting on some frames, lol.  All listed below the cut, if you’re interested.  Enjoy! I’ll start work on 22 soon. :)

Yu-Gi-Oh! DMGX Episode 20: The One With the Dressup Act

    (The password is “love”~)

A transfer student named Rei joins Judai’s room, but things become baffling through his refusal to join them to bathe and his attachment to the Kaiser.  When Rei goes out looking for the Kaiser’s room, Judai follows him and finds out Rei’s secret.  Only Judai gets caught by the Blue students, but he doesn’t tell them about Rei.  With the secret on the line, a duel begins between Judai and Rei.  Rei’s deck, featuring the “Maiden in Love,” is one with a love flair to it.

Phew, finally have this done! Unfortunately, I’m getting some stupid “Invalid Session ID” error on Cloudy that even this cookie-deleter extension’s not solving, so it’s up password-protected on Dailymotion for now.  This was a fun episode, also setting up the next few episodes as the mini Interschool Duel arc comes up, and Rei was a nice character to work with here, as were the Sparkman/Featherman/Burstlady/Maiden interactions because what even was that haha.  (Worth noting that I’m pretty sure everything from Rei moving into Judai’s room to the hella random bathing scene makes up the biggest cut 4Kids had done to the spinoffs until maybe the stupid cut at the end of Crashtown in 5D’s–except, unlike there, this episode didn’t have a recap for them to fluff the episode with.  May have to do a comparison to see how fluffed the dialogue was, lol.)

There were also some fixes to this episode, as well as a translation edit for the hardsub here! Luckily, not too many fixes compared to the adventure that was 19, but they’re there below the cut for you, if you’re curious.  Enjoy, guys! I’ll update this post and my stream masterpost when Cloudy lets me upload this there.

  • Dragon Ball Z Kai - ft. Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s’ Soundtrack (Stream Masterpost)

    kaiowut99:

    Hey!

So, I’ve slowly been working on this project in between my fansubbing YGO GX; Dragon Ball is sorta my secondary fandom–though I’m less active in it, I’ll occasionally reblog a thing or two here–and the Kai dub has been insanely fun to watch.  However, a lot of fans likely know how Kai’s composer, Kenji Yamamoto, was canned over a music scandal where a lot of his tracks were plagiarized–three episodes away from ending after Cell.  Toei rushed to replace his tracks with Z Kikuchi stuff, then went back to the rest of the series, which wouldn’t be a bad thing–if they used more tracks to work with.  I loved the Yamamoto score despite that, and while I like the Kikuchi score, I felt the music gets repetitive too easily given the limited tracklist. (Also, a Cell arc theme playing in the Saiyan arc wut)

Now, I love consistency (as anyone who knows how I go about subbing knows), and I’m also a big YGO fan.  Way back, I got the idea to time the vocal tracks for clips with 5D’s’ soundtrack (Wall 5 Project/Yutaka Minobe; YGO series generally have great music, and 5D’s is up there); one of my favorites was Goku’s Super Saiyan transformation to “Light & Dark.” And then, I decided I’d try to make a consistent soundtrack for Kai using that soundtrack.  It’s amazing how well it works in spots, haha.

So, enter this.  As I’m only up to episode 3 (which I just finished and am adding here!), I’ll update this post as I get more done and reblog it/post the new ones separately and linking to this, so keep an eye out! Feel free to send me feedback, as I’d love to hear what people think of these, haha.  I’m going by the soundtracks’ release order, spacing things out to fit the arcs, unless I feel a track in a later release fits better (saving most of SD3 Disc 1 for likely the Buu arc if/when the dub’s finally a thing), and also trying to use some unreleased tracks if able.  I’ll figure out a way to release the audio files; either I’ll post them here/NAC, or maybe on Kanzenshuu now that my account’s active there.  Stay tuned, lol; enjoy!

(Also, the vocal audio on episode 3′s recap is wonky because the way I extracted the center vocal channel still kept the Yamamoto recap track there; I recreated it from the soundtrack and used some noise reduction to get as much out as I could out; hopefully I’ll get to fix that with better audio.)

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX Episode 18 Subbed - Finalized

    kaiowut99:

The One With the Copycat (Part Uno)

Yugi Mutou’s deck will be on display at the academy.  But the night before, the deck is stolen by Kagurazaka, a Yellow.  Kagurazaka defeats Shou in seconds and appears before Judai.  Judai and Kagurazaka duel–in what is also Judai dueling Yugi’s deck.  Kagurazaka studies all there is to the techniques of the top duelists–he flawlessly masters Yugi’s deck, and finally even summons the Black Magician.

What better way to tie into Darkside of Dimensions coming out in Japan than to finalize this duel? :D

This is one of my favorites; you have an interesting idea in Kagurazaka as a copycat duelist, some nostalgia as he uses Yugi’s deck (and one point to the dub here for using some DM music), and Judai trying to hold his own against it.  And Chronos somehow knocks down four people, nbd.

And as with the last 5 episodes, there were a bunch of fixes I worked into the episode, because you’ve got to love it when the staff gets lazy–list below the cut! And special thanks to @akameniseis for swearing at Photoshop translating the Yugi poster in the beginning and the flier in Kagurazaka’s room a few minutes later! :) Enjoy, guys; I’ll try to get the next episode done by next week in time for/just after DSOD’s release!
