  • GX 65 - Video Frame Editing Help?

    kaiowut99:

Looking for a little help on an animation edit I’d like to work on for my finalized episode 65 subs–I’m trying to correct an error where they showed Mad Dog Inukai’s Multiple Slime in Defense Mode despite it being in Attack Mode, entailing a few frames’ worth of editing to remove the Slime (as I’ve already masked it out to slap onto the fixed frames).

    image

I was in talks with someone who I hoped would be able to help, but unfortunately between their work schedule and maintaining their YouTube channel, that’s fallen through.

Details here; if you’re good at Photoshop/etc and might be able to help with this, it would be much appreciated–I’d credit you in the episode’s end credits, but can also commission the help if need be.  Shoot me a DM if interested; would be great to make this fix happen if possible.  There wouldn’t be a huge rush, though if you’d be able to work on it within the month or sooner, that’d be great, as the wait trying to work with my contact has delayed this episode for over three months now, lol. (The wait hasn’t been too bad, since I’ve been able to get a jump on giving my finalized episodes thus far a final revision [and I’m up to the Seven Stars episodes now], but yeah)

    Thanks in advance! 🙏🏽

GX 65 (WIP?) - A Card Not Played Right

So, I’ve been working on some of the other edits I’m doing for GX 65, and for one of them, I hoped to fix the animation error that happens here as Multiple Slime is attacked by Ryou’s Chimeratech Overdragon; it’s in Attack Mode (and Mad Dog Inukai takes damage after it’s destroyed accordingly), yet has its card under it as if it were in Defense Mode.  I figured this would entail redrawing the tiles under it, clone-stamping some of the gate behind it, applying a little drop shadow, and working it back into the footage as I mask Multiple Slime back in over my edits (see photo #2).  Problem is, as the beam of light comes closer, the tiles light up, and I hoped to light up the edited tile I did, but I can’t seem to figure out a good way to do it (since the frame and my tile edit move to the upper right as the beam comes in, my edit would have a hard stop at its edge unless I also tried to apply it in a later frame, but then comes the lighting issue)–let alone the explosion happening and trying to figure out how to light the tiles up there accordingly…

I don’t suppose anyone might have some tips on trying to do this in Photoshop? Or would someone who’s skilled enough and has some time on their hands be able to take a crack at removing the card themselves if I offered the frames to edit? I would probably just need the tiles redrawn and blended in, a drop shadow to be put under Multiple Slime like I’ve done above, and the gate recreated behind it, but you’d be welcome to do your own thing; I’ve already masked out Multiple Slime to add back onto the edit, so no need to worry about that.  And because the shot only moves to the upper right (no zoom or anything), it should be easy to just duplicate whatever edit is done earlier into the later frames and move it accordingly.  Worst-case, I’d probably just have to leave this error as-is, but it’d be nice to fix it if doable (especially since the dub didn’t catch this and also put their dubified card in Defense Mode under it 🙃).

(It’s funny because I did the reverse of this back in GX 30 with adding a Defense-Mode card under Judai’s erroneously-in-Attack-Mode Tempester, though I didn’t also have an explosion to deal with then, lol.)

Just bringing this back because unfortunately, my contact who I hoped would be able to work on this edit won’t be able to between work and managing his content on YouTube–would anyone be available to try and work on this? I really would like to get this edit applied to finish episode 65, but if no one’s able to, I suppose I’ll just leave it.  As I mentioned above, I’d just need a handful of frames edited as noted.  Please shoot me a DM if you might be able to and I can send you the frames so you’re able to decide if it’s doable; I’d be crediting you in the episode’s end credits, but I can also commission it if need be.

    Thanks!

Lance Plays Duel Links 5D’s - Yusei VS Placido! The Descent of Two Shooting Star Dragons (ENG Vox)

    Clear Mind!

I’m having too much fun using this Stardust EX deck haha (with a few tweaks as was posted in r/DuelLinks, iirc).  Had a Placido Wisel LV2000 show up, so I challenged it to a Riding Duel, and since the EX Skill already leads me into a Shooting Star Dragon, thought it’d be fun to subject Placido with two of them 😅 yusei no he’s not alright

(I’m also a sucker for the Accel Synchro and SSD animations, though come on Konami, how does the Crimson Dragon mark not have Rua’s Heart mark??)

I did have the JP voices before on my Steam, but the newer updates must have undone it, so I’ll need to redo, but it’s a shame Yusei’s English lines don’t have him say “Clear Mind!” given it’s the reason why his Accel Synchro is a thing–I mean, “Let’s rev it up!” for the umpteenth time? Really?

Anyway, enjoy! I saved a few replays of some other fun duels I had with this deck that I’ll try and edit/upload in between bouts of working on finalizing my GX 65 subs.  Will probably need to make the voices louder than the SFX, too, apparently lol.

GX 65 (WIP) - Shameless Plugs

I thought I’d work on this magazine’s back cover a bit, and I managed to get a good look for this! Photo #2 is my current translation of this magazine’s back cover (which is an ad for the Shadow of Infinity booster pack as it was coming out), and #3 is the dub’s blanking of it–I tried to work on repainting Uria and Raviel a little yesterday, but wasn’t really getting anywhere, so ultimately I decided to work with the dub’s blank’d back cover for now* and worked it properly into this shot (the way the dub edited it, they enlarged the back cover image and kinda rotated it oddly, so I resized it and rotated it back to fit into the Japanese frame; their edit also sorta overstepped the “bounds” of the magazine and overlapped with the pages).

I’d first worked in a color gradient to the “Phantasms” text up top, but as I rotated the text into place, the gradient kept shifting from how I wanted–eventually, I realized I just needed to make it a Smart Object to keep it in place, lol.  Added a drop shadow to the text as well using a Color Overlay on a duplicate layer, and did the same for the Uria and Raviel names before masking Judai’s fingers over the Raviel text (which I may polish up as I add it to the footage).

The challenge will be working with the back cover as it moves while Judai flips some pages; I may try to split the cover into its own image so I can do a corner pin in AfterEffects to keep the look consistent, but I’ll see what works; may take editing the four moving frames, though, since Judai’s hand moves but hmm…

*Out of curiosity, would someone skilled enough in Photoshop/etc be available and able to help with blanking the cover here (and as it’s shown in a later shot where Shou’s reading his copy of the magazine)? I kinda want to do my own blanking if possible so I don’t need to use the dub’s work, and I’d be happy to commission it if need be (would definitely be crediting in the ending credits).  It’d be much appreciated!

  • GX 65 - Japanese Question!

    kaiowut99:

So I’m getting ready to go over my subs for GX 65 and I’d like to try and translate this magazine cover–but I’m having some trouble making out the Japanese on the lower right with the bullet points:

    image

Any chance someone would be able to make out the red Japanese there and transcribe it? I’m assuming it’s meant to be a “Contents” summary, and I can make out the first two bullets as あのデュエリストは今 and プロリーグ[対戦?]データ; for bullet #3, I can make out ベストデュエル and bullet #4 seems to be something about type and deck? I’ve already gotten the “特集 カイザー丸藤亮 サイバードラゴンデッキ徹底解剖” portion.  Bonus points if there’s something under the “07″ like an edition marker or something.

I tried to Google some of these to see if a fan had transcribed it already, but no luck.  And I hoped the recent raws encoded by “YES” that I found on Nyaa would be of higher quality as they were for 5D’s, but they’re not.  Any help would be appreciated!

(EDIT: Thanks to a kind anon, we’ve worked out 99% of bullet #3 to read, “読者が[?]ベストデュエル” (where [?] is a missing kanji, though it looks like there might be a ぶ or something next to it? 🤔), and bullet 4 to read, “タイプ用デッキ攻撃法”; just need the heading and the missing kanji in bullet #3, along with a confirmation that I’m correctly reading “ プロリーグ[対戦?]“ in bullet #2, and I should be good to go. Thanks again!)

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX Episode 64 Subbed (Finalized)

    kaiowut99:

Shou VS Kenzan! A Passionate Duel for Big Bro

(Check out my Subbed!GX Stream Masterpost!)

While Judai is away from home, Shou and Tyranno Kenzan argue about which of them is Judai’s “little bro,” prompting a duel between the two in which their passion towards their Big Bro is at stake.  First, Dark Tyranno–Kenzan’s boss Monster–lands a direct attack on Shou.  Then, Shou uses his Cyber Summon Blaster Permanent Trap to chip away at Kenzan’s Life in 300-point chunks.  He also completes a defensive combo with Ambulance Rescueroid and Decoyroid…

Here’s a newly-finalized episode 64! This episode’s interesting because of the whole Shou/Kenzan dynamic getting fleshed out a bit, with the two coming to some level of understanding with each other as Kenzan maturely opts to throw the duel after realizing how dedicated and close Shou is to Judai.  We’ll get a bit more from them later, but it is nice that we close that out here.  Also, Fubuki’s being Fubuki much to Asuka’s chagrin, making us wonder how this season would pan out if he was still possessed, and we see a shirtless Judai in… Pharaoh-branded boxers that I’m surprised aren’t a real thing yet.

Now, in terms of footage fixes… I guess after two episodes of not having much to fix, 64 had quite a few to work with; I worked on 10 edits altogether, all card-related, and I’d originally picked out five I thought would be it before I backtracked for the others I’d noticed.  The animators didn’t play all their cards right here, lol.  List below the cut, as usual.  (For the ending Today’s Best Card segment, I also added a line in the card details for Ambulance Rescueroid’s Fusion Materials that the original didn’t include just to keep consistency; this line is used for future Fusion Monster showcases, so it looks like they might’ve just forgotten it in this one.)

Enjoy, folks! With this done, next time we’re revisiting a classic: Hell Kaiser Ryou’s debut episode~ I’ve been looking forward to this, and it should be fun to revisit.  Should have episode 65 done in 2-3 weeks, maybe sooner if ‘rona jab #2 doesn’t hit me too rough this Friday 4/30–fingers crossed!

All right, so with everything up-and-loaded over on Cloudy, the downside is that they don’t have a playlist function so I can organize everything like on Dailymotion.  Enter this post, where you’ll find all the links sorted out by seasons! I’ll be updating it as I upload my finalized Season 1 episodes in the coming weeks, so check the original post periodically or keep an eye on the notes for any reblogs of it I do so you’re aware of any updates.  Also, keep in mind that you can download these from NAC, since I post all my downloads there!

If you would rather download, you can also use this torrent set up by rhodanum with all of my subbed episodes, including my updated Season 3 subs (which you won’t find in other torrents; does not include my finalized Season 1 stuff, which you can find on NAC’s download forum): [removed because Kickass has been sent to the stars]

(Before you go on here, if you don’t mind, would you please take a minute to sign this petition I’ve set up to get GX’s unreleased music tracks released? A lot of GX wouldn’t be as good as it was without the unreleased music, and it’s still disappointing that the delayed Sound Duel 2 didn’t cover much of them.  Fans got ZeXal an unexpected Sound Duel 5, so we’re trying to do the same for GX here! Spread the word if you can, too!)

Also, Crunchyroll has begun to roll out official GX subs as of 8/1/15! This is excellent news for the fandom, and while you’re more than welcome to continue watching my subs, be sure to give their subs at least one watch just to show support for the official release! You can also just have their upload playing on a muted tab while you watch my version!

To keep the html’d list consistent, season breaks are denoted like this; arc breaks are in italics.

UPDATE (4/25/21): Finalized!Episodes 1-64 now on the list; finalizing Season 2′s now underway, so stay tuned as we revisit these~ (Removed the torrent link because the site’s now dead; may upload a new one at some point) Also re-finalized episode 2 to fix a poor choice of words in one line, and re-finalized episodes 55 and 63 for some consistency fixes.

If you see any busted links, shoot me an ask and I’ll fix it up! Make sure you check the original post first, though; I may have already fixed it. :P

Casually reblogging because though I just re-finalized episode 2, I also re-finalized episode 55 so Kenzan’s Archeonys’s name was consistent with my newly-finalized 64, episode 63 to make Kenzan’s “Draw!” lines “I draw!” as I’d had them in 55, and episode 64 just to tweak Fubuki’s line to Asuka about being possessed a little.  Their links are updated in the original post above, and are updated in each episode’s individual release post; I’ll be posting these all to NAC in the next day or two, so stay tuned!

  • My Subbed!GX Stream Link Masterpost!

UPDATE (4/25/21): Finalized!Episodes 1-64 now on the list; finalizing Season 2′s now underway, so stay tuned as we revisit these~ (Removed the torrent link because the site’s now dead; may upload a new one at some point) Also re-finalized episode 2 to fix a poor choice of words in one line.

If you see any busted links, shoot me an ask and I’ll fix it up! Make sure you check the original post first, though; I may have already fixed it. :P

Just revised this Masterpost to include newly-finalized!64!

Also want to give a shout-out to @staravya who brought a poor choice of words in episode 2 to my attention that’s now been corrected (thanks again!); I’ll be posting the fixed episode over on NAC as I release episode 64 (which might be a day or two because I have a few revisions I need to make to some other recent episodes lol).
