Please, does anyone else remember the episode of yugioh GX where the guys deck gimmick is domestic abuse and it’s also the only deck that season to have actual synergy? I swear I’m not making this up.

It sorta draws attention to another very similar card (Maji Gyre Panda) that does allude to domestic abuse, so could be a result of misremembering perhaps?

No, it is about domestic abuse. it’s about chumley’s dad getting drunk and abusing him, which is heavily implied in the sub by chumley disliking his dad and being scared about him visiting
I think it’s more about his dad owning the sake factory & it being a family legacy but Hayato wants to be a card designer instead, & given the importance of family & heritage in Japan, his dad disagreed. Hayato didn’t want to leave the Academy.
