GX Finalized-Subs!71 (WIP) - “The Former Shooter Game Champion”
Getting work on my finalized subs for episode 71 underway, and as part of it, something I wanted to do was translate the file Asuka–now with the Society of Light–pulls out about Ryusei (Lorenzo in the dub) here. Took me almost a week to do with a few hours after work here/there, a few hours yesterday, and then mostly finishing touches today. And this was kind of interesting, since I had to brush up a bit about older shooter/shooting games for context; 71 has some gaming references peppered in, between Ryusei using the BES cards based on the Gradius game in his duel with Judai and even little things here like the references to Space Invaders with the Nagoya Shot/Attack (”名古屋打ち/nagoya uchi;” a bug in the 1978 game, so named because it was discovered in Nagoya, Japan, lol). So all told, Ryusei here has some credibility to back up the claim in the episode that he’s a game champ. (I’m assuming he won a shooter tournament Kaiba might’ve hosted at some point.)
