I can’t believe I’ve never seen anyone point this out when talking about the ridiculous dialogue in this episode. Sure, it doesn’t blatantly break the fourth wall and the dialogue doesn’t directly refer to card games, but Jaden’s line was pure gold. This episode was a very one-dimensional moment for Chazz, and Jaden’s line basically sums it up.
That’s it for the first part of the episode. I’ll do the next one soon, then I’ll try something with animation that’s a little less limited. I’ve been taking advantage of the show’s limited animation, but also not taking it for granted. I hope this transfers over well.
This bit is actually decently translated considering how Judai’s talking about Manjoume’s “1! 10! 100! 1000! Manjoume Thunder!!” chant and how he climbed up from rock bottom originally.
You know what pisses me off? In the YGO sub, Pegasus is WELL prepared to meet Kaiba in the dungeon (ha)… but in the DUB he loses his shit and he’s like ‘well Goddamn I wasn’t expecting THIS what the HELL” and he THREATENS Croquet they just changed everything. They changed him from having a cool demeanor to being a villain to try and demonize him and you know what, no.
Pegasus isn’t lazy and an asshole to his peeps and you better be damn sure that at least up to this point he’s covered all his bases.
WTF? This is why I can’t watch the dub.
Pegasus was COMPLETELY aware that Kaiba was on the island the whole time. He wasn’t worried about it. He knew how he was going to handle the situation. After Saruwatari (Kemo) set off the alarm in the dungeon, Pegasus says to Croquet, “Please turn off the alarm. It’s annoying and I can’t think with them on. I’ll meet with Seto Kaiba in person.”
Also, the whole thing with Pegasus threatening his staff in the dub? It never once happened in the original. He expressed very minor irritation that Croquet had interrupted him while reading comics to report that Mokuba had gone missing and went on to joke that Mokuba must have been “dissatisfied with their service.” Then he went back to reading Funny Rabbit and laughing hysterically.
To be fair, the dub changed almost all the characters for the worse, but yeah. It pisses me off too.
Guys, I’m watching the GX dub an its the scene where Jim saves Alexis from drowning and Viper just said “I would have go away with it if it wasn’t for those meddling kids” I shit you not
So apparently, there’s a dub opening for the Ark Cradle arc or something? Or it’s just a fan-made AMV and they can somehow edit the cards like 4Kids (see when Crow and Jack hold their cards in those Road to Tomorrow shots), considering the not-so-official-looking “Fight For The Future” line at the end. If it’s actually official, it’s weird considering how they stopped at 137 in the US, and since Germany and other places started using the Japanese version for post-DS!5D’s.
Meanwhile, the GX Season 4 opening this guy has up is definitely fan-made, so…
(Speaking of which, I wonder if the Italian dub’s gotten as far as the WRGP; I know Germany got close to the Ark Cradle…)
And here’s the dubbed version of the rescore! /sounds way more exciting than it should be
This one’s not entirely perfect because of the dub’s soundtrack still sorta sticking around in the voice track (and I was too lazy to download the dub music from that Soundcloud playlist, time them to the movie, and then try noise-cancelling it out), but I did what I could to minimize it, so it should be watchable (it’s especially noticeable as Yubel praises Jaden after taking out M. Cyber End thanks to those leftover GUITAR RIFFS). This is also the audio track that I said I’d move/mute lines for, so there’s that.
