YU★GI★OH!
I sadly can’t display this banner at it’s full size here due to Tumblr’s image size limits, but it can be viewed on my Twitter: @doodledrops_art
I was inspired to draw this because it’s the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise’s 25th Anniversary this year!
Swoldier_X out here doing the Egyptian Gods’ work with their Duel Links Anime-OST replacement mods; check out the Antinomy Theme/Clear Mind use near the end! I also love that they snuck in the unreleased “First Move” theme from GX for O’Brien.
There’s a link in the Description for you to apply the mod to your Duel Links on PC, and I’m not sure if it’s cumulative with their other music mods, but if not, the ones he did for 5D’s and GX World are there, too. Also recommend their mods using the OCG Card Artwork!
Jack, you’ve already punched this man at least five times. Don’t use his amnesia to reset the count! That said, with the amount of sass Bruno just gave him with that last line…mm.
I’ve thought it before, and I’ll say it now. Aki could’ve also performed an Accel Synchro if given the chance. I was sorta expecting her to recite Sherry’s speech since that was such a big influence on her. Either way, it shows she still carries those lessons with her, and they’d be a big help this time around.

Well, after over 2.5 years now (…welp), this little mini-project is finally wrapped up! (Well, not totally, as I realized I have to go back and fix a few things for consistency, but y’know) It’s been neat editing these to throw the Japanese OST back in, and while I might do a few clips here/there now for fun, unless 4K/Konami Cross Media decide to flub up more episode uploads without their dub OST, I probably won’t be doing more full episodes. (Need to work on finalizing my GX subs finally, haha.)
But in case this is still the first you’re hearing about my mini-project here, let’s get you up to speed:
So, the official Spanish YGO channel on YouTube flubbed a few uploads of the 5D’s dub such that they ended up uploading a few episodes of the English dub instead of the Latin American dub (21-29)–but with none of 4Kids’s background music! Which meant that I could swoop in and re-insert the original Japanese soundtrack (which I did by matching each track to how it was looped in the episode), but I wanted to do more by also tweaking the dub itself so that not only was it matching the original footage, but the dialogue was more in line with the original dialogue timing-wise (since I couldn’t salvage much of what they changed). Hence, the “dubbed uncut” gimmick here. To this end, I’ve also used dialogue from Duel Links where applicable, or even borrowed audio from other episodes with the vocals isolated to lend to that effect.
Check out the masterpost of episodes here!
This was an interesting one to work with, and I was looking forward to it because of the Jack/Carly scene at the end over Jack Battle; it was also neat working in OSTs like Ceremony off Sound Duel 2 and mesh it with the dub, while recreating some of the OST tweaks they did (like speeding up Carly’s theme or sputtering Rua/Ruka Battle 2 as Jack calls Carly out lol). Dialogue-editing-wise, this wasn’t as bad as 28, thankfully, as most of the dialogue was more or less adapted well, though I still did need to grab dialogue from other sources to cover for some dub fails, and I did grab audio from episode 30′s dub for the preview. I also translated the “Road of the King” poster shown in four scenes (two outside the gala that happens and two inside as Godwin talks), using the dub’s “Atlas Rising - The Rise of Jack Atlas” name. And since this is the last episode I’m working on, I thought it’d be cool to make use of Mark de Groot’s awesome Last Train - A New Morning English cover to really channel more of that “what if uncut” energy (just a shame no solid English CROSS GAME cover exists, but hopefully my eventual full translation when I post it will help that along). Full breakdown below, if you’re curious.
So, yeah… Enjoy, folks! Now that these are all done, I’ll be focusing more on my finalizing my GX subs and looking into finally reuploading my 5D’s sub/dub comparisons onto a new site, though this has made me want to revisit my 5D’s!DBZ Kai project occasionally, lol (I do want to see about using TheMilkman’s reduced-filler cut of Kai, though, as I thought it was a much more streamlined way to watch the show, but we’ll see). I do have ideas for clips to create later on, but for now, enjoy these and think of what could have been (and could still be if we ever miraculously get a redub…)~
happy valentine’s day! have a cute aki

that episode where Aki tries to get her d-wheeling license is so sweet BUT it also made me remember that Yusei didn’t have a license when he got arrested… which means that either
- Godwin arranged a license for him before the Fortune Cup
- they made Yusei do a driving test at some point (before the FC? after the Dark Signers arc?)
- Yusei never actually got his license but nobody dares to bring it up
personally I prefer option 3 because it makes the episode so much funnier
5D’s Dub-Uncut Episode 29 WIP Clip #2 - The Rise of Foreshadowing
So, about ¾ths of the way through editing the episode, and I wanted to show off a bit more of what I’ve done so far–starting with the big “Road of the King/Atlas Rising” gala scenes. I translated the movie’s poster, using the dub’s version without the text for simplicity, and used the dub’s name for it as I worked it into the footage (I also did versions using “The Road of the King”, in case I ever, uh… need more to eventually do lol)–I first added the text in Photoshop and redid the zooming shots in the outdoor scene, then adapted the translation for use in the indoor shots.
For the audio, as I mentioned last video, I used some Duel Links lines for Carly over the poster shots since there was a dub commercial here, I used a Carly Duel Links line to make her line to Angela “No way! Angela!” instead of “Angela! Fancy seeing you here!”, and during the gala, I used the Japanese audio to take out the unneeded MC lines before Goodwin steps down the stairs, shortened his teasing lines about the movie, and used Duel Links lines so that Jack’s dialogue in the movie was actually consistent with what was said in those scenes originally in the Japanese version. (Also didn’t show it here, but I had to keep the reporters who react after Angela breaks that Jack’s a Satellite in Japanese, because of the way 4Kids decided to have the two that talk talk back and forth after each other instead of one having the most dialogue.) I also had to tweak Misty’s foreshadowing line to Carly because 4Kids gave her added lip flaps; I think it came out well, and works if I try to do a later scene for fun, lol.
Most of this sounds about final since I’ve tweaked the audio levels for this section already, but let me know what you think!
