JC, aka GymLeaderLance99 or GLL99 or Lance99. 32|He/Him|NYC. I fansub GX, work on dub/sub comparisons for 5D's (and GX eventually), and have various other projects going. Expect a mix of YGO stuff (and a little ZeXal and SEVENS [which I'm slowly watching]), with some occasional randomness.Duel Links ID: 537-542-930 | Master Duel ID: 999-767-712

    PENDULUM SUMMONING AND PENDULUM MONSTERS

We don’t know the complete details of the new mechanic, but, I’ll try to explain from what I’ve gathered:

Pendulum Monsters look like those two on the left and right above, and have both a red and a blue scale, both with numbers on the card.

New to the game are the two Pendulum Zones, blue on the left, red on the right. You can place Pendulum Monsters on either Zones, and they become Spell Cards with the effect between the two scales on the card.

When you have Pendulum Monsters in both zones, you can Pendulum Summon (Special Summon) a monster with a level BETWEEN the two numbers from your hand.

So, if you have a Pendulum Monster with a blue scale of 1 on the left Zone, and one with a red scale of 8 on the other, you can Pendulum Summon a Level 2-7 Monster from your hand. This can be ANY Monster, making it much easier to summon high-level monsters from your hand, since you will no longer rely on Tributes.

When a monster that was Pendulum Summoned dies, it is sent to the Extra Deck, where you can play it later, through currently unknown means.

While you can play any Monster that allows itself to be Special Summoned using this method, such as classics like Dark Magician, some monsters, like the one pictured in the middle get extra Effects if they are Pendulum Summoned.

    4K Media launches Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V

4K Media, Inc., debuted the newest generation of Yu-Gi-Oh! called Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V. The company is responsible for the global brand management, broadcast, and digital sales of the new series outside of Asia.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, set to premiere this spring in Japan, will introduce fans to Action Duels, where characters and monsters interact. The newest star, Yuya, is a 14-year-old boy learning to become an “entertainment duelist” at one of the many Preparatory Schools children attend to hone their skills and become professional duelists. Yuya duels using the Pendulum Summon, which provides access to many high-level monsters.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise is currently in its 12th consecutive year of broadcast in the U.S. and most major markets worldwide.

Reason I am excited for Arc-V:

    • Inevitable antagonist who makes fuck-crazy faces and physically and mentally tortures an entire group of people

YUGIOH.COM IS NOW OPEN. YU-GI-OH FANS AROUND THE WORLD, THIS IS A BIG DEAL!

4K (which came to be after 4Kids sold the franchise), who currently handle the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime internationally, has been hard at work on this site, which is to be, the (official) international ultimate hub for YGO Classic, GX, 5D’s, ZeXal, and hopefully Arc-V. It’s still currently in beta.

It currently features a small newsfeed, both with anime news and some stuff borrowed from the TCG site. As promised on the Facebook page several times, they will soon be adding official INTERNATIONAL STREAMS of every series. Right now, it uses the streams from Hulu, which features most dubbed episodes, and the nearly finished subtitled version of 5D’s, and some subbed episodes of ZeXal. GX was promised years ago, and because of some legal issues with the Japanese version of DM, we’re not sure if we can get official subtitled versions of it, but they’ve left a lot of “it could happen”-like comments on their Facebook page.

There’s also descriptions of each series, and a cute character gallery. There’s also a MASSIVE gallery of anime only cards, featuring their full artwork. This includes stuff like Advanced Crystal Beasts, and other such obscure cards.

And, the best part is, 4K are VERY open to feedback on the site, along with general suggestions on their Facebook page.

Fans of Yu-Gi-Oh! Classic, GX, 5D’s, ZeXal, even Abridged: Please, if you have anything at all on your heart to say to a lot of the people who brought Yu-Gi-Oh overseas to begin with, and helped it become what it is today, please, leave a comment on one of their posts. If they can, they will respond, and I’m sure they read the majority of the comments left on there.

If you live in the appropriate area, also be sure to watch some episodes through their site, and through Hulu, rather than watching them on unofficial sites with TV and DVD rips. This ensures that the money goes to the rightful creators, which in turn can be used for higher quality products, better marketing, and so on. Please turn off ad-blocking programs and such things.

We’ve never been able to let the people who work with this wonderful franchise know just how much we appreciate Yu-Gi-Oh, and this literally could change everything, if we make sure that these people know that we are here, and if we leave feedback, suggestions, and other wants to them. I’m betting there are tons of fans here from the various series that probably had no idea Yu-Gi-Oh even HAD a Facebook page, let alone a official website for the anime, but that’s going to change, and we’re going to help!

yugioh.com - Watch episodes (with ads on), and explore the site!

https://www.facebook.com/Yugioh - THE place to communicate with 4K, who handle all the YGO series internationally

And, for the heck of it, follow them on all these other social platforms that they they’ve made accounts for, but haven’t started using yet:

    http://yugioh.tumblr.com/

    https://twitter.com/yugioh

    http://pinterest.com/yugioh

    https://plus.google.com/b/106565320754309149621/

Please, if you’re a fan of any Yu-Gi-Oh series, let them know you exist by watching episodes on the official site, and following and leaving comments to them on the various social media platforms, especially Facebook!

  • Also, just for the record, did Kaz say ZeXal would be the last series again at all, like he did about 5D’s? If he didn’t, at least we can say he didn’t back out from that again for Arc-V lol.

idk yeah, Yuya’s ZeXal-ish design’s got me slightly iffy on it, but I’ll give it a few episodes and see if it’s engaging (I mean, going back to the “have stuff happen in the first 10 episodes” thing from GX and especially 5D’s would be good).  Maybe by then I’ll catch up on ZeXal and Vector’s shenanigans I’d love having a series to watch through from the get-go again like I did with 5D’s; those old times on Janime staying up late for the Fortune Cup/Dark Signer arcs were fun haha.

I also saw someone on that NAC thread suggest having Chiaki J Konaka come in as head writer, which would be really cool given how he did Digimon Tamers (haven’t seen Lain but heard it’s pretty f’d up; also seems Yoshida’s done decent stuff with ZeXal, but it’d be interesting to have someone else take it up).

idk I just hope this series turns out awesome enough to have Masaaki Endoh record some songs for it again
