so it was a lot to screencap, but we just got this big speech from smile chojiro on how 10 million people are cramped onto a small plot of land, with the commons in slums making up 99% and struggling to survive, and the 1% living better than ever and producing SO much waste that they send poor people to forced labor camps and work them to death. like, pretty much verbatim.

and we’ve seen the cops are just their dogs who do whatever and arrest anyone for Looking Suspicious or even being on the rich ppls area at all! no trials needed! we’ve seen our heroes go to JAIL (which, yeah with that being the entire theme of 5Ds I shouldnt be surprised about) and theyre still struggling under the thumbs of the rich people who are forcing them to put on a show rn, and if they lose they’re sent to the forced work camps even after they had to break out of jail. CHILDREN are being put in prison and younger children are homeless or orphans who don’t know their parents bc of this system

the guys trying to tear down this society and classist system and starting riots about it and fighting cops (not with their duels. like, literally have been Fighting with Their Fists) are the good guys and very much framed as such and theres characters reiterating that no, climbing out of poverty isnt enough, even if they did, the system would still be there and THATS what needs to change, not any one individuals status in the society, but all of it. I think a lot of people would be surprised by how political yugioh is!
