I’ve been trying to find parallels between Judai and Yuya (since they’re both supreme kings) and I finally found this one.
I just really like how “accepting your past self to move forward” is part of Judai and Yuya’s character growth because whether they like it or not, their identities are linked to the person they did not want to be. After all, they duel to have fun, not to bring chaos, which their past selves tried to do.
Also, maybe I just haven’t watched or read stuff that have protagonists deal with their past selves, but I really appreciate how GX and ARC-V handled this part for both Judai and Yuya. I love how they were both able to come in terms that yes are reincarnations of the big baddies and they brought pain and suffering, but they can use the powers that they inherited from the Supreme Kings to save everyone and move forward. Both Judai and Yuya inherited the ability of hear the voices of their cards, so it’s pretty awesome when they both used this ability in a good way in these two scenes and in the latter episodes.
It’s just an interesting concept and parallel and I just love that it brought more character development to these fun-loving protagonists.
Maaaaaan I just rewatched episode 126 and 127 and I still love those episodes sooo much.
The first time I watched it, everything felt so fresh and shocking with all these revelations, but rewatching them makes the experience better because the show built itself with these questions about Leo Akaba and the whole Yu boys and Bracelet girls plot. It’s like…I already know the answers, but it still feels great watching Leo revealing everything again alongside with the show’s title drop.
Also makes me appreciate Zarc’s character more because his story really parallels with Yuya’s experience during the Synchro arc. Wonder what would happen if Yuya caved into the crowd’s pressure during the Friendship Cup? You get Zarc. Honestly, Zarc’s origins always make me hype and Yuya chanting Astrograph Magician GETS ME HYPE TO THE NEXT LEVEL. Like it just blows my mind how this always egao tomato boy is the reincarnation of the devil. Main protag is also the main villain???? Sign me the heck up. Idk man I’m seeing more and more parallels between Zarc and Yuya and honestly I’m hoping to see more.
ya know, people (including me) bring up roget a lot when it comes to villains from arc v who were seemingly not completely dealt with, but know what villain was actually never officially gotten rid of?
The Doctor???
like, you could argue that maybe roget is still out there, but more than likely we were meant to read that scene as him getting crushed between dimensions and dying, or otherwise being lost between worlds forever. So he’s pretty much out of the picture.
But the Doctor?? he got carded by Leo but then….everyone got uncarded?? so where did he go….what terrible things can he get up to………..
yes i’m already writing fanfiction about this. i hope someone else will also decide to write fanfiction about this
