Okay I was rewatching the episode and the quality is awful (it kept buffering too, because bad internet) but I saw this scene and it reminded me of why I wanted Jack to win that last duel against Yuusei so much.

Being King is an integral part of who he is, and kids like this one want him to be king again!

It really would have been a dream to see Jack go back to being King, but for real this time. No mockery. All because that’s simply who he is. He’s someone who entertains for the masses. Inspires little kids. He’s someone who could be a role model in the public eye - if that was what he aimed for. He could become someone who shows people, much like Yuusei did, that it doesn’t matter where you came from, you can do this too.

I greatly disliked the last we saw of him, because what I saw was a celebrity far removed from his fans, the kind of person who gets put on a high pedestal. And even if that’s not all he is, that’s what the series showed us.

This so much. Really would have tied back to this and his redemption after his loss to Yusei in the Fortune Cup really well if he’d beaten him in the finale… I still liked it and both he and Yusei made it fun to watch, but yeah.
