I like that there’s a parallel between Kaiser Ryo in season 2 and Judai in season 4 of GX. Both of them had their specific ways of dueling (Judai wanted to have fun, Kaiser wanted to respect his opponents), only to end up throwing those aside in exchange for just chasing victory after being forced through major trauma.

In Kaiser’s case, he lost his duel against Edo, went into a major slump he didn’t know how to deal with, and then went through a brutal underground duel that brought him to his breaking point.

For Judai, he went through the entirety of season 3, which involved many of his friends apparently dying, him being the Supreme King/committing atrocities as the Supreme King, and having to deal with Yubel. Come season 4, and Judai now seems to only be able to trust himself to win, as seen in his tag duel with Asuka, and prioritizes winning over having any amount of fun.

Actually this is the main Judai birthday art for this year which I started to work on first of all . But unfortunately I couldn’t finish this by August 31st due to being too busy with my own birthday party preparation 😅 ( cuz Judai and I share the same birthday ) … sooo I had to use my another art of him lying on grass and added Winged Kuriboh cloud ☁️ , at least got something decent to post intime for his birthday … Anyway , glad that I finally finished this main art . 🙏🏻✨
