i really appreciate manjoume here because for his character this is a defining moment: he’s confessing that he failed. he’s stating that he messed up, hit rock-bottom, but that he then picked himself back up and clawed his way out of hell and back into duel academia.

… but

not everyone heals the same way. it’s really kind what manjoume is saying to juudai (”i’ve been where you are now and it sucks, but you can’t mope around about it. you’ve gotta move on and keep pushing forward”), but the thing is that what worked for manjoume might not work for juudai, and it’s hard as a friend to know that not everyone has the mental strength, perseverance, or attitude to press on. sometimes you just feel hopeless and no amount of pep-talks or uplifting, heroic stories will help you feel better.
