Funny as it sounds, this actually struck me as brilliantly optimistic. He may not be saying it as bluntly as Judai often does, but in his own way he’s admitting that the color of his jacket isn’t what makes a true duelist.
I just think that, for a guy who’s commonly depicted as pessimistic, he does develop the sense to look at things from a true duelist’s perspective, after everything Judai inadvertently teaches him.

The way Judai is always indirectly complimenting Manjoume makes me really happy for some reason.
Of course, not as happy as it does when he indirectly burns him, either.
