Ah, thanks! Hate when people do that though; don’t need someone stumbling onto ARC-V for the first time to think it’s this super-sweary show when it isn’t… The script is good as-is, why try to punch it up?
And yeah, from what I hear, he doesn’t credit DMC for the script. Which, y’know, would be a kiiinda shitty to do.
I KNOWWW it looks gorgeous as hell, and I really don’t want my first exposure to it to be the dub–unless it’s of surprisingly good quality like I hope it’ll be since it’s this big movie. But yeah, they want to keep the DVDs from coming out until next year, and I’m like

But at least we’ll get some awesome edits from you when it’s finally out! :D
Pfft, I honestly know just as much as you do. XD
AFAIK, Academia and the City in the Fusion and Synchro dimensions are essentially AUs of GX and 5D’s, respectively, and so Asuka, Ed, JACK, and Crow are AUs of their original series’ selves. There was some theory floating a while back about how Heartland/ZeXal is post-5D’s if Ark Cradle hit, while ARC-V is post-5D’s if something something Synchro and Xyz coexist. Hopefully we got some idea of this before the series ends!
OHHHH Yesss that one, it’s like the big “plotting” song they’ve used during Synchro, that’s one of my favorites (think it played in 76 during King’s Gambit too?). Yeah Synchro’s songs were on-point and with these new songs being as good, I’m just like
I seriously hope the DSOD soundtrack’s delay is why SD4′s been delayed and that we’re getting an announcement in the next month or two because this wait is ridic
Saaaame anon, I’m itching for SD4 news at this point D: Had to check to see which song you meant (is it the Commons’-like theme when he plays his face-down and Roget’s all “Let’s enjoy ourselves, Reiji Akaba?”), but ugh ARC-V’s music is so good it might’ve already trumped 5D’s for me haha. still a close second tho Koutarou Nakagawa’s a blessing to YGO.
Wait, but that kinda makes it a little like Super Fusion, doesn’t it? :o I mean, obvs without the “fuse your opponent’s monster with yours” bit haha. Wonder if that was intentional.
Hey, sure! Try this post by se-to-oh; she also has posts with ways to watch the other series, if you need ‘em!
Aww thanks! It’s still always really nice to hear that someone’s enjoying ‘em! :D
Haha, maybe not, but I’m doing what I can to make it sound better by ditching the fluffy dialogue and being creative with the good in the others. :P
AGHHHH This is a tough one, lol.
On one hand, I would say DM shouldn’t be involved because it’s already getting DSOD–which has also made ARC-V suffer quality-wise for a bit–but on the other, DM should because ARC-V is an anniversary series celebrating the whole franchise… And I still think there might be a chance that DSOD might have something to do with ARC-V’s plot.
I think I’d like to see DM characters worked in, but it really comes down to the execution; I wouldn’t want them to be shoehorned in like Team Ragnarok in 5D’s, but if they can work them in smoothly (like with JACK/Crow and like Kite/Asuka/Ed seem to be), then I’d be game for it. I could see Jonouchi maybe (though Crow’s a lot like his character personality-wise already)… Would be interesting if Mai showed up…
I was thinking either Kaiba’s early-series getup or maybe it was a nod to the outfit the Goblin Elite Attack Force wore when they stopped to see Ed and the Kaiser in Dark World…
But that would be a nice Easter egg to go with the fact that Code Geass’s music guy is scoring ARC-V haha.
And I conveniently came down with a slight cold lol.
Sure, I’ll whip up an “example” version when I’m less congested later this week (and try to post my full translation finally), but in general, if you can sing along with the pace of the original lyrics, the timing for my translations is pretty much the same. And feel free to adapt my lyrics as needed for it to match your style!
Oh no, don’t get me wrong; I’m liking it too! I figured that might’ve been what they’re going for, and the contrast between earlier in the arc when he was always so composed and over the last few weeks when his plans have blown up in his face has been fun to watch, haha.

^Probably my favorite face of his this episode, btw.
Favorite GX character: Judai, that salted caramel mocha™ (by someone I’ve forgotten) of a dork that makes me feel things at the same time becaUSE OF SEASON 3 AND BEYOND OW MY LIFE POINTS. Also, Shou, Johan, Manjoume, Ed, and Asuka get mentions, but honestly, I’ve been working on GX so long I have a lot of favorites haha.
Character I most relate with: Hmm… I’d say Judai (surprise!) because of how, after he goes through everything thrown at him in Dark World, he has to rediscover the fun he gets from dueling–something he has to keep with him. And I feel that’s a pretty good way to tackle life too; life can and will get you down, but just remember the things that make it fun for you (currently in a slight funk myself due to my work search and other stuff, but things like Parks & Rec do wonders). And Yuya a little because of the whole “laugh when you feel like crying” thing, but the jury’s out on that one until we see if that was actually good advice or Yusho suppressing destruction.
Favorite Duel Monster(s) Card(s): Answered this one here, but Winged Kuriboh’s a favorite. And since Judai’s one of my fave characters, I also love Elemental Heroes (still need to complete my Hero deck…). I’d like to try building a D/D/D deck sometime, too. Also, Discover Hippo gets a mention.
Thanks for the ask!
No, that usually falls to our stand-in Duel Composer, Masahiro Hikokubo (who was also wrote the 5D’s manga). As I’d guess, he’d generally write the duels with what the scriptwriter and/or series composer (or others involved that I dunno about) want to get out of it (like symbolism and whatnot), while also likely working out how to mix in Konami’s wants well. I’ll tag @ygoanimation again in case he knows anything he wants to add, but I think that’s about the gist of it.
