Can we talk about how awesome Takahshis style evolved ?? I mean look at Alexis. I believe when we have this kind of “redraw” we truly see how awesome he evolved from GX to Arc-V ((and that gives me some hope to be able to evolve too))
FWIW, it’s actually not really Takahashi’s doing since he’s not involved with ARC-V at all; I’d guess Miyoshi (Original Character Drafter) and/or Akemi Yokota (Character Designer) had a hand in her new design.

Hey, it’s alright! I’m just a nerd who actually looks at the credits since I translate them, that’s all. :P Takahashi’s art definitely has improved (just look at the DM manga compared to the one for the new movie), and we all get better at things with time!
(I hope I didn’t come across as too matter-of-fact, it wasn’t what I was going for 😅)

Hmm, problem is it happens often after the page should be done loading, while I’m in a tag or on my dash. I feel like it’s an Xkit thing, but I’m not sure which one could be causing it. >_>

Well, it’s hard to think of much since we just got started here, but glasses!girl at least seems like she’s related to Ruri with her similar hair colors. Dunno about the boy, lol. They were also distraught (or at least the girl was while the boy looked stoic about it) by the chaos going on in the earlier shots, so I kinda wanna say they’ll find their way into the Resistance? Definitely hoping there’s some hint about them next week, but since Kite’s dueling Gongenzaka and Shingo, it might not be until 1-4 episodes after 101 lol.
As for the professor guy… I don’t think he’s a Chronos expy; I think he might be in league with the guy we saw before who was trying to stop younger!Selena from escaping in that flashback. Definitely seems like he’d be Academia. Wonder what the watch is for…
Really curious about the twins too, though. And of course, Yusho’s place in that shot; do we get to see him outside of a flashback this arc?!

(Don’t mention what could have been. The thought of a decently-dubbed Doma makes me want to cry. :( Some of the voice acting was spectacular - with a better script, Dartz and Mai would’ve been amazing, and Rafael and Alister weren’t bad either.

No worries! It’s really interesting seeing how they handled them, and while things sound stilted initially, you can tell they started getting a handle on things by about episode 6-7 (especially when they start using “Damn it!”).
You have no idea how salty I am that I won’t hear Wayne Grayson’s Dartz with much better dialogue and all the original music D: Having a consistent Mai would’ve been awesome too, and Mai’s VA in these would’ve done pretty well. I loved Rafael’s voice, liked Alister’s, and, uh… I actually liked Valon’s accent. XD I really hope 4K decides to revisit this sometime, be it DM or any of the spinoffs.
And I would’ve really liked for them to ditch the synthesizer for Dark Malik’s voice; it’s the most annoying part of watching the Battle City Finals in the dub. SO MUCH LOST POTENTIAL

I need Darkside of Dimensions to be about Yugi. I don’t want the movie to be about Kaiba, I don’t want Kaiba to have a win because if Atem has established he never loses to Kaiba and Yugi inherits that legacy, they can’t take Yugi down like that. Kaiba has gotten a ton of filler arcs and Memory world back story - he doesn’t need a movie; he already got Pyramid of Light. I need the post-canon Yugi story where Yugi steps up to the plate and proves he’s the Modern Pharaoh.
Not sure if anyone’s mentioned this (since this new Tumblr note listing is stupid), but fun fact: the movie was originally going to be a lot more Kaiba until Takahashi had to trim it down to include Yugi. Likely reason: yeah, Kaiba got filler arcs and backstory in Memory World, but a lot of that was only in the anime; Kaiba wasn’t there during Memory World, and that stuff in his filler arcs? That was the anime trying to make up for skipping the first seven volumes, where a lot of that backstory (like things with Gozaburo) happened. And since the movie’s set six months after the end of the manga, and with the loose ends re: Kaiba, it makes sense it’d be mostly about Kaiba. Though I agree about wanting the movie to show Yugi having come into his own, not necessarily as the “modern Pharaoh.”
