Apparently Cloudy goofed on a few of the uncut DM episode uploads too… Did anyone notice them not working too, or is it just me? Surprised no one’s said anything :S

Random thought but after seeing that uncut!DM petition, and another one aimed at Konami from TCG players, I wonder if my GX/5D’s unreleased BGM petition would work better on Change.org instead of the other site I’m using…  Since they let you put in the person or company’s name and address it to them, and all.  But then, they don’t recognize Marvelous at all, even in Japanese, so…

heleentje and I mentioned doing a Great YGO Rewatch a bit ago in Nov/Dec before I went on hiatus, and now it turns out that starting February 7, 2015, the original DM series is being aired, completely HD remastered. How complete? We’ll have to wait and see, maybe they’ll actually redraw the Memory Arc like we’ve all wanted for years. Either way, I thought this would be the best time to start the GYGORW (acronym pending review).

I’m not sure how frequently the DM series is airing, but I imagine it will be more than once a week (probably every morning, so 7 eps a week given it starts on a Saturday) to complete the airing before the new movie in 2016. I propose we start with DM as the new remaster airs and then continue our way through the franchise: GX —> 5Ds —> BBT —> Zexal —> Arc V. 

Clearly this is not going to be a fast endeavor, what with nearly 15 years of material to make our way through, but a challenge like this is far more fun with friends. Personally, I can’t commit to live-watching all the episodes together, and given the various timezones that’d probably be impossible anyway. What I am envisioning, though, and please provide ideas, is some sort of forum, chat room, or group tumblr account where we can meet up at a specific time and review/discuss a set number of episodes.

Sort of like a book club: go watch these 5 or so episodes at some point during the week, we convene over the weekend to talk. This way everyone can use their own time the way they need, skip weeks with episodes that don’t appeal to them/have time for, and we can capture the group’s analysis/discussion for later review.

Count me in! Would be cool to talk some more YGO :D I’ll just have to figure out how to work it into my week with my GX stuff and work going on lol.

Yuto’s name in Japanese katakana is ユート

Phonetically, yuuto

Doesn’t leave much room for it to be transcribed as “Ute”

Best-case, they were going for “Uto” but even then it’s a stretch

And with the lookalike-Yuya and the “Yu” naming scheme there for context, would it really make sense for it to be Ute? :P

Romanized things in the anime have always had a slight margin of error.  Remember “MORTETN”/“MOMENTUM?” Also the time or two they misromanized Rua and Ruka’s names? It could be true, it might not, but until there’s some official word on it, going with the context leading to “Yuto” is our best bet.  

The same should go for Reira too, as much of an L/R issue as it is: he’s Reiji’s brother, so Reira makes a little more sense than Layra.  Though it does sound a bit weird to say out loud lol.
