Funny thing is, I just finished the Monster World part of the manga and I’m off to Duelist Kingdom, and the first chapter is actually what becomes episode 2 of the DM anime. So now I know why most people hate episode 1–because of how jumbled it is from one or two bits of Death-T and other stuff. Probably the same with episode 12 since they ram in what’s basically an abridged Monster World in the middle of DK.
And with Monster World read, that shot of Bakura stabbing his hand with one of the towers on the RPG that I’ve seen floating around makes some more sense. I always thought it was just him being randomly sadistic or something lol.
Guess I’ll try rewatching Series 1 now for a bit to see how that’s even more of a jumbled mess again; been reading up on the differences between it and the manga over on NAC, and I haven’t seen it since checking out the watch episode a long while back.
Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten it! Like I said last time, I was hoping to finish up 5D’s 59’s comparison first, until I realized I’d barely started it lol. I got maybe a few minutes in there before Monday or Tuesday hit and I got onto starting 158. I’m at the Meteor Dragon/Power Gift part of the duel; expect it done by Saturday!
ETA on GX 157: tonight/tomorrow morning! It’s encoding now, so I’ll be doing the last bit of editing on it in about an hour or two before having to sleep for an early shift tomorrow. I’m planning to upload it overnight, but if I’m not done by then, it’ll be uploading before work. :)
Side-note: I’m glad the Italian dub kept going by following the Japanese version; helped me out in a few spots when I couldn’t think of how to word something, lol.
Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Sound Duel 1 - 24. Jack Battle
My love for this song is like an ABSOLUTE POWERFORCEEEE!!!!!1!11!1
(Also, another fun fact: my last year in college, I had an alt rock radio show for the last month or two, and I decided to loop the beginning of the song into a 3:40~ish-long song to use as my BG theme while on the mic. 'twas fun. I even explained it one time, but lost it since I had to dump a lot of audio [a curse in a song, maybe]. I’d probably still use it if I got the chance again, it was a blast doing a show. I wonder who might’ve known it lol.)
It’s Tanabata and Yusei’s birthday so here’s a two in one art.
Fun fact: so in my Japanese class about 3 years ago, we had to work on a PowerPoint/sakubun (essay) for something about Japanese culture. I ended up choosing Tanabata especially because I knew about it through -OZONE-, and I played it for a bit to show how it was referenced. It was cool looking into what it originally came from (a story of two lovers being separated by the Milky Way and only getting to see each other one day a year [the “once a year” line in -OZONE-], and Altair and Vega being involved). I forget what grade I got on it, but I think my professor liked it, haha.
Also, I ended up looping both this Applause song from DM Duel 2 and “Legend of the Signers” from 5D’s Sound Duel 2 to use in the presentation. I don’t think anyone recognized them. hehe

So weird seeing Yusei look so evil when he’s possessed by that Stardust miasma…
…Yet he looks kinda awesome. Should’ve happened more in the anime haha. Maybe more around the time of Z-ONE=/?=Yusei?
(Also, interesting way to use poncho!Yusei from Crashtown, manga. Also also, glad that Kinomiya somehow found his way in [I wonder if he ends up dueling Aki here…]. Alsox3, Ruka might be my favorite character in the manga lol. “B-O-R-I-N-G!”)
Okay so I know I said I’d have it done by like, last Tuesday… lol
Guys, I’d say it’s about 85% done! I’ve added some SFX from the series and anything usable from the dub’s audio track, so things sound a bit more natural now. I’m just adding more of the original audio in for the silent-BGM scenes since the no-music track I’m using has this weird “hollow”-ness going on with the voices (probably since I combined audio tracks when making it), and I’m up to Judai’s turn. I definitely like how it’s coming along.
Once that’s done, I’ll be exporting the audio as one track through Vegas to preview, and then trying to mux it into the movie’s mkv file. May tweak the subs a bit too, but we’ll see.
TL;DR Should be all done by Monday or Tuesday. Finally. After that, I’ll finally work on getting 5D’s 59’s comparison all done. And finally figure out what to do about hosting them
Also, as a heads-up (I’ll start saying this now and repeat it next week), I’ll be taking a mini-hiatus after 156 gets done for 2-3 weeks. Aside from prepping stuff for Season 4, I’ll also be trying to get some work done on other projects I’ve had stalled for a while, like 5D’s’ comparisons, my GX BGM rips, and that BBT rescoring thing. Keep an eye out!
I love how I wanted to get it done by Friday and it’s now Tuesday… >_>;
Hey, folks, so… sorry (again) for the delay with 149. I’ve had work creeping in for a while, along with some personal stuff going on. I’ve gotten to a bit before the commercial break, and I’ll probably get to about the -5-7min mark by the end of tonight, so I’ll tentatively say it’ll be done by Thursday at the latest.
Also, while I’m making text posts
So no one ever sent me an ask from that YGO Ask thing I reblogged a few weeks ago.

I SEE HOW IT IS GUYS
So, in both the TV rip and the DVD episode (surprisingly, since things like these get fixed on the DVDs), as Dogma Guy’s being summoned, you hear him grunt and the ATK counter come up seconds before he actually poses and the counter actually pops up. For some reason. I checked if 4Kids had it fixed in the dub, and it’s still there, only you also hear the dub’s stat counter SFX after the JP one. It’s not the first time they’ve goofed with SFX, since, if you watch dub!130 as Rainbow Dragon’s powering up to 10,000 ATK, you actually hear the Japanese stat-increasing SFX. And apparently, in dub!145, they also kept JP!Echo’s scream as Exodia grabbed her and put dub!Echo’s scream over hers. Yeah, I dunno.
To fix this, being the awesome or just lucky editor that I am, I sped up Dogma Guy’s posing so it and the counter were timed with their respective SFXs. And now, it looks a lot less awkward!

Some of you probably noticed, but GX_ST’s forums are down (the host suspended the account, I believe), so I’ll only be posting my subs and stuff over at the Neo Ark Cradle’s Download Forum (you only have to register to see it). If they set up another forum, I’ll post there, too.
(Also, my comparison site is still MIA. I don’t even know anymore. If anyone knows any good web hosts, shoot ‘em my way.)
This has been a PSA.
So, I’m editing the lines near the end of 136.
Y'know, the scene with Shou letting Judai have it and Judai’s little monologue?

Yeah, I kinda forgot how feel-inducing this scene was…
“Beyond the Sorrow” playing during the Shou part isn’t helping either.
(Naturally, the dub cut a chunk of it out.)
aaagh I forgot how annoying it was to work in subs for those emotiorbs that fall when Judai beats Zure in 134…
I have subs on the balls when their kanji fades in, and I also originally had them on later when they’re fading into Asuka and the others. But I’m lazy and don’t want to rework all the positioning on them. (Plus, I like consistency, and it would’ve been hard to work with them where I decided to put them now.)
I was kinda thinking of just replacing the kanji with emoticons (hey, makes more sense than what 4Kids did), but as good as I’ve gotten with Vegas, I think that might take a while… (And probably more than just Vegas) (Also don’t know which ones would work for anger and hatred, lol)
So yeah, I think I’ll just add subs the first time each orb is shown in an episode. If they show up in a big scene (like Manjoume calling Judai out), a side-note ought to do it.
And less work for me = the quicker an ep gets done! It’s a win-win! :P
