Because - let’s look at the facts. This happens the moment the Crimson Dragon arrives. Rex knows what’s going on. He gets Jaeger to contact the doctor in charge, and tells him to stop. Straight away.
There’s a bit of dialogue I missed, but- it’s really telling how actions can sometimes speak louder than words.
He was prepared. He knew what might happen, and had planned in advance. He’s calm.
And yet - it can’t just be me seeing that in the second screencap, he’s angry, frustrated with how slowly his order is being taken on board.
And in the third, I can’t be imagining at least a small amount of guilt. ‘Actions louder than words’, again. He’s looking away. What’s happening on the other side of the screen is his fault. And what happened in the past, too, I’m sure he’s spent many a restless night dwelling on any small change he might have made to make things not go as they had.
The past is out of his reach. The present, is his responsibility.
