I just said a few days ago that I am pretty sure I have never met anyone who likes the 5Ds twins so please tell me why Rua/Leo is your favorite character? I am very curious.
He’s
just—he’s so precious. He’s bright, and cheerful, and energetic,
and always tries so hard. He can be a little brash and reckless and
gets in over his head a lot because sometimes he’s a little arrogant
about his abilities, but that’s almost a shell that he uses to hide
how scared and insecure he is.
Since
his parents leave him and his sister basically alone, and his sister
is frail and sick, he feels like he has to protect her. He’s the
best brother, always trying to take care of Luka because there’s no
one else around who will do it. He wants to be there for her. But
at the same time, Luka is special.
Luka has powers that he doesn’t. Luka is a better duelist than he
is, and more often than not, the things he does gets him and his
sister into more trouble than they were already in. He’s insecure,
frightened, and often feels pretty useless. He’s not a Signer and as
far as he knows he’s just a tagalong on the big mission. He feels
like what he does usually just makes things worse. He’s not special
like Luka is; although Luka tries her hardest to reassure him that
he’s not inferior to her, he feels like it anyway. So he tries. And
he tries and he tries and he tries to protect her, to be useful to
everyone, to get better with his dueling skills, to be an important
part of the team. Even though he fails so often he keeps getting
back up and trying again.
For
a side character he just has so much depth to him and I feel like I
can understand him from even just a few episodes when he appears.
Just…his
cheer is infectious. His desire to better himself is infectious.
The fact that he can keep smiling and enjoying himself even when he
feels sad and useless a lot is inspiring to me. He’s a big ball of
cheer and happiness and I feel like he’s more important to the group
than he even realizes. I wish they had made him a Signer earlier
than they did because if anyone deserved it, it was Lua. Lua would
have been the best Signer the whole way through; his bravery would
have never flagged if he had felt like he was an important member of
the group.
He’s
so brave for being so young, and despite how immature he acts I
really think he is mature for his age. He tries to be, at least, for
the sake of his sister. I just love him for that. For trying so
hard and being so hopeful even after every time he falls down.
I
guess that’s my type, really. I love the characters who are bright,
cheerful, sad inside but rarely let it show outside because they’re
trying so hard. The ones that fall down over and over and yet always
get back up. Lua just fits that type completely. :)
(This was in response to Yusei saying that he isn’t that big of a fan of Jack)
Okay, I actually never noticed this on my first watch, and even now this line makes no sense. As in, this is the only time Rua holds a view like this, after he says this he stopped caring about whether or not you admired Jack and had a D-Wheel.
Now I would write that off as Rua’s character development, but I doubt its that as there was literally nothing to signify that he should just stop making that connection, he just did. Now I honestly don’t know if this is because the writers didn’t realize he said this or it was a showcase of Rua’s character – stating everything that’s on his mind to new people. Because remember, Ruka noted that he was extremely talkative today, hinting that he doesn’t always talk that much with Ruka.
But it seems like Ruka does know how he feels about these things. They literally had an exchange that basically stated that you needed a D-Wheel to be King.
Essentially stating that Rua automatically connects having a D-Wheel to being King. And if you had a D-Wheel it was either because you were a fan or because you aspire to beat him, which was why Rua told Yusei that it was practically a shame for him to even begin Riding Duel anyways because of his lack of drive towards anything King related.
Which makes sense, considering that the King has only been seen engaging in Riding Duels, and he is indeed the idol for Neo Domino City. So whatever he does, people will follow.
And so Rua stating this isn’t necessarily his opinion on the matter. If it was, then it just wouldn’t react to how awesome Yusei’s D-Wheel was without some snide remark afterwords. Because, considering Ruka is in on it too, society has made him think that Jack is the main reason for Riding Duels, considering that most people who have D-Wheels and are not part of Security are there to challenge and claim the title of King from Jack. And with Rua being so young and thus easy to sway, he just accidentally adopted this idea into his mind without thinking much of it, while still holding his own values of it. And it’s more heavily influenced on him as opposed to Ruka, as it seems like she only does it in response to Rua’s ramblings.
And why don’t we see this side of him ever again? Because the next episode is dealing with the Black Rose Witch, and we all know Aki doesn’t get a D-Wheel until much later, and while I could be wrong, the very next time is during the Fortune Cup, which means that everyone with a D-Wheel obviously wants to win this tournament, which means that they aspire to face Jack, so of course his comment about it wouldn’t make sense. And then of course Yusei wins and plot is begging for our attention that he just forgets he even had that ideal because it no longer applies to the situation at hand.
I just want to point out real quick how much I appreciate how the character designs on Rua and Ruka are done. no prominent blush or long eyelashes or redder lips or what have you on Ruka to make it clear she’s a girl, which is what most shows would do. aside from a slightly different color scheme and the fact that they wear their hair up in different ways, they’re identical, but the audience is always able to tell them apart on account of their distinctly different personalities and mannerisms.
Luna seems to be the first main Yu-Gi-Oh! female that doesn’t have her
most noticeable physical feature being her chest. Instead, (based on the
first picture) it is her legs. This made me wonder how tall Luna grew
to be and here is what I decided:
For starters, Leo and Luna look to
be about the same height. Since there’s a good full body shot of Leo in
the second image, we can use this to help too. Just like with Luna, Leo
has extremely long legs, and it must run in the family.
Using the first.
second and third images, both Leo and Luna‘s hips are way higher than the seat height is
(the lowest portion of the bike where you sit).
The average for a motorcycle is 28-32
inches. However, both Leo and Luna’s legs appear to be much longer than
that, so we can say that the seat height is much more than that too. 37
inches seems more than fair. Include the extra height of Luna’s legs (up to just below the red line in her outfit) and her lower
half is about 44 inches (which makes sense, since both of their lower halfs take up over half their height).
For the top half, we can use the last
picture. The average height of a woman’s head is 8.5 inches (not
including hair) and nothing about Luna’s head implies it’s any
different. Measuring, it’s about 3.5 heads, so (8.5*3.5=about 30
inches).
30+44=74 inches, so Luna and Leo both grew to be about 6′2″ or about 188cm tall.
