no honestly every time I talk about how good GX’s character development is my go-to example is with Kaiser
Like, they took this character who was the established cool guy, the top of his class and always calm and strategic, and went “hey what if we broke him and destroyed all his ideals”
and they totally revamped his look to fit and turned him into this character with no moral compass and no interests except power and victory because he was tortured to a point where that was drilled into him
Then after having him put his brother through the same thing they have him slowly dying from his lifetime of damaging himself
And then ultimately he throws it all away to have one last duel against an opponent who managed to actually make him regain some of that joy he used to get from dueling back in season one
And then he comes back and nearly dies AGAIN trying to make it up to his deck for disrespecting it
Also the fact that he tries to teach his brother to live on his own because he knows he’s gonna die for real soon
And this is ONE CHARACTER
