GEEZ TALK ABOUT DROWNING IN A SEA OF DESPAIR 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
This eyecatch is rather painful seeing them all trapped in darkness but it looks pretty cool too.
Ahh, so that’s what the deck was trying to tell Ryou. Since he thought that he had nowhere else to go, he mistook its signals as meaning that it just wanted to continue fighting all the time instead of realizing that his monsters wanted to continue pushing their limits and wanted him to evolve more as well.
Shou has really learned how to listen to and respect his monsters now though. And I’ve noticed during the duel that the deck hasn’t been shocking him at all like it did before. Shou’s own monsters being present probably has something to do with that and are a mitigating influence on the Cyberdarks. Also they probably appreciate that Shou understands them and decided to go easier on him for that. ^^;;
I like too that Shou has become confident that he’s going to keep growing and changing now, when at the beginning of last episode he wasn’t sure about it because he had never thought about his future before. But he knows now that they all have a future they can continue to work towards before them.
I really love this scene. I think it really shows how different both Sho and Kaiser are when it comes to evolving as duelists. Kaiser already thought that he reached his limits back in season one and that notion made his losing streak hit him even harder. He was so used to being the best that I don’t think he knew how to handle losing and eventually became so desperate to keep winning that he became Hell Kaiser. Even when his heart started to give out, Kaiser’s main priority was just to get one last good duel out before he died. The thought of getting medical treatment so that he could live longer seemingly didn’t come up since Kaiser already thought that he reached his limits.
Sho is the opposite. Unlike his brother, Sho had to deal with losing duels before. He started off at the lowest rank and had a lot of self-confidence issues to deal with on top of it. But he was able to make progress to become a stronger and more confident duelist. Kaiser believed that he couldn’t change because his skills were already at perfection, but Sho working his way up the ranks and then using Kaiser’s deck more effectively shows that change is always possible. It’s a really nice detail that fits with their personalities and makes their storylines feel like parallels to each other.

Lol, well it’s nice to see that Judai isn’t the only one who’s suddenly super popular. XD The three of them could certainly beat everyone in their lines with ease though.
WELL DONE SHOU! I’M PROUD OF YOU TOO! ;__;
Omg, that’s really sweet! ;______;
Even though they care about each other, Ryou and Shou have never really had the strongest relationship. There’s always been a distance between them because of how Ryou saw Shou as being someone immature who needed looking after and how Shou felt intimidated by how far above him he thought his brother was. But now Ryou is actually treating him as his equal for the first time and Shou is so overwhelmed because it’s what he’s always wanted from him.
It’s just nice to see how genuinely proud Ryou is of how much his brother has grown and he’s realized that there are things that he can learn from Shou as well. It’s good to see that their relationship is given a positive and hopeful wrap up and that they can now move on from the previous difficulties that they’ve had together and have a chance to maybe grow closer now as well.
It’s also interesting that Ryou says he wants to form a new pro league instead of going back to the one that already exists. Maybe after his own experiences in it, he wants to form a league where duelists won’t have to feel the pressure to do something like turn to the underground dueling scene if they fall onto hard times in their careers.
That’s definitely a good point there. The spirits can always tell and even if Shou were to play like his brother, they would know he’s someone different because he doesn’t have the same feeling to him. You can only ever be yourself and so I guess he’s going to have to find some other way of connecting with the deck than trying to do it the way Ryou would.
Heh, that’s also true. Judai seems to have gotten a lot better at the whole advice giving thing than he has been in the past. ^^; He’s always tried to be supportive of his friends before, but his attempt were really kind of hit or miss most of the time. But this at least is one thing he understands and can talk about with confidence.
Dub syrus try to warn Jaden about viper but jaden don’t listen to him.
Relevant post of mine: what was lost in translation making things up
This scene’s bad for the dub because it writes out a good bit of building character development for Shou; this is the moment that starts to get him to reconcile the belief in respectful dueling that he got from Ryou with dueling passionately like Judai does with the survival duels going on so he can protect his Blue status–until Judai’s duel with O’Brien makes him realize that they’re not mutually exclusive, and he resolves to outdo his brother from Ra Yellow. A bit of a thread that goes on through Season 3 that the dub writes out for this sidekick gag that’s… not all that good. 🤦🏽♂️
Awww, Judai’s face there… He kind of looks like he’s about to cry that they’re still willing to trust him and want to help.
He was certainly trying to stay away in order to keep them safe but I think another part of it probably was that he still feels guilty over what happened to them last season and that he thought they wouldn’t really want anything to do with him anymore after all of that. But the others have chosen to forgive him and still do want to help him because they care. And of course they all want to be able to protect their school as well.
Shou looks ready to just fist fight this asshole and tbh I’d let him. So should Judai.
The guy literally brought down a helicopter at the beginning of the episode so he clearly doesn’t care about, you know, killing people.
Awww, that’s nice how the season picks up right where the last episode left off. Unfortunately we don’t get to see Shou actually hug him. :(
Oh hunh, he actually used a card related to Alchemy. That’s something that hasn’t particularly come up since season 1. ^^;;
Ouch, that sucks that the cost is that it removes his monster though….
Awwwww, Judai just looks right at him when he says this and all of Shou’s doubt vanishes again. ;______;
