Arc V is overhyping Yuri way too much, I know whatever he ends up doing is going to be a disappointment, the show is building him up WAY too much and it won’t end well. I mean take a look at his dragon, it’s an alright dragon but since it was so overhyped a lot of fans were disappointed. I’m not saying his dragon was awful, it was fine, but it like Yuri are just so built up I almost know it’s going to collapse.

his dragon doesnt fit the silhouette we were given, which i think is the only valid reason to be disappointed. otherwise like… its ugly like it should be. its grotesque, has a shitton of drooling mouths all over its body, it looks nasty like you’d assume of something that uses venom or poison. thematically it fits. so i think people are just… idk. angry it doesnt look “cool.” i like it a whole lot.
but yeah arc v overhyped yuuri. and i dont even mean the fans. the fans just reacted the way that the anime wanted us to. everything from having roger himself freak out at the mere idea of him, having him dominate everyone he encountered in flashbacks, only giving glimpses and small clips of him at a time, everyone was excited to see what this guy could really do. they created a fandom that wanted to believe in the villain and then
utterly did nothing with him. and although he’s eventually going to get his time to shine, if he doesnt do something major really soon into his appearance, he’s gonna flop. he needs to card/kill off a major character, absolutely decimate someone. he needs to Be as unstoppable and terrifying as he was hyped to be before he’s ultimately defeated or its all for nothing.
just thinking back to pre-episode 92 gives me a headache. yuuri shows up on top of the stadium, overlooking yuugo and the fandom blew up with “OOO UR DEAD UR SO DEAD YUUGO OMG RIP,” expecting him to do what he does best, which is utterly succeed at everything he’s done so far and do it with a smile. doesnt happen. chasing continues. the two meet up and we expect them to duel, instead more of him being a downright tease. but it was something.
we saw in the summary spoilers that yuuri was following right behind sora and we were like RIP SORA, SORA’S DEAD. HE’S SO DEAD. we were expecting yuuri to be a monster. instead yuugo shows up and its more or less like… ok well we’re finally gonna see the yuuri vs yuugo duel and shit yuugo is dead he’s so dead rip.
instead… go berserk and get teleported away.
i think it was at that point that the fandom just… gave up hope. like.
multiple times during the span of a month we wanted nothing but for him to do his thing. and it isnt teasing anymore. arc v is literally just squandering the hype they produced. even ppl who werent fans of yuuri were like “oh shit sora is fucked/yuugo is fucked” because it was just generally understood that he was a mostly competent villain. but now his competency is limited to only flashbacks that we have little attachment to in comparison to the current here and now.
but yeah he’s gonna flop. i’ll be surprised (and happy) if he doesn’t.
