An entermate magician …. I love the symbolism of this card. You see Yuya’s deck is made of three archetypes, the Entermates, Odd-Eyes and the Magicians. The Entermates represent Yuya’s ideals while the Magicians are Zarc’s powers as they’re the first pendulum cards and they came from Astrograph Sorcerer the card that made him Supreme King Dragon Zarc and Odd-Eyes is half and half as he was originally Zarc but he was upgraded to Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon by Yuya.
The entermates and Odd-Eyes cards mixing can be seen as Yuya slowly connecting with his powers with Zarc but the mixing of the Magician and Entermates shows that Yuya has been able to fully accept himself as Zarc and use that power as his. Yuya has fully accepted himself as Yuya Sakaki and Zarc and this is shown by his deck.
I love the fact that Yuya is smiling right. He’s come so far from the kid at the start of the show that smiled so no one would mock him. Yuya now can truly smile no matter the situation and we saw him grow before our eyes.
AWWW Odd-Eyes was jealous! But seriously Odd-Eyes is honestly the most complicated monster character in YGO so far. AND HE CAN’T EVEN TALK. He’s shown the most variety of emotions, I had times wondering what he wanted and they even made him pretty interesting. Overall it’s pretty incredible how interesting Odd-Eyes is.
I have watched the Yuya vs Yuri duel probably too many times for it to be healthy but I noticed there seems to be a pattern in episode 135 that Yuya or Yuri would squint a specific eye when making specific statements.
Notice how whenever Yuri talks about become one, he squints his left eye while Yuya would squint his right eye whenever he refuses to become one. Originally I would count this as a coincidence but then I remembered 140. When Yuya revives Supreme King Dragon Zarc, Zarc takes over this eye.
Zarc takes over the right eye, the exact eye that Yuri has open when he states what Zarc wants and the eye the Yuya closes when he’s trying to fighting Zarc’s influence. I think that Zarc is connected to the right eye while the Dragon Boy’s own conscious is connected to the left eye.
Whenever Yuya’s powers starts to grow, we see it in Yuya’s LEFT eye
The fact Zarc is revealed to have taken over Yuya’s body in 135 is shown by Zarc flashing Yuya’s left eyes shows that Yuya’s consciousness is connected to his left eye.
And then 140 just continues this. Zarc talking about him creating Pendulum summoning is shown by Zarc’s face being overlayed over Yuya’s while only Zarc’s right eye is open.
And when Yuya is refusing Zarc’s declaration that he just wants to kill everyone, only Yuya’s left eye is open.
The final proof is that in the end of the Zarc vs Ray/Reira duel, Zarc is fighting back control from Yuya with their right eye open. While Yuya’s left eye is barely open and struggling to stay open
But Yuya opens his left eye fully when he takes back full control and signals for Ray/Reira to finish the duel.
It really shows that the staff really planned out everything thus why Yuya and Zarc’s oldest and trusted ace monster is ODD-EYES, the monster with two different eye colors. Odd-Eyes’ design is meant to show how conflicted Yuya is, representing Zarc’s destructive impulsives and Yuya’s ideals.
Oh that’s really cool and makes a lot of sense! I like how you connect it to Odd-Eyes too and how he shows the conflict between Yuya’s selves. That’s definitely very clever of the writers to set everything up that way!
