That’s the one! Only I translated it a little less literally lol. He says “miira-gari ga miira ni natta no sa” or “the mummy hunter has become the mummy”, but I translated it as “I went out [to shear a sheep] for wool and came back shorn”; the phrase kinda has a “well I bit off more than I can chew” meaning to it. Makes sense in context, since it’s in response to how Judai mentioned that Saiou went to him about looking into Darkness.oh gosh, is this the one where saiou said some crazy line about catching a mummy
AND HE’S ALSO THE JAPANESE SPONGEBOB PFFTi can’t believe he’s also the japanese spongebob
So I ended up on DM ep.200’s page on the Wikia while I was looking for Kaiba going full V-Chin when
“Spiritual Awakening”, known as “Dark Bakura on the Move” in the Japanese version, is the two-hundredth episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! second series anime. It first aired in Japan on April 14, 2004 and in the United States on October 22, 2005. As an homage to the original Japanese series and to celebrate the second series anime’s two-hundredth episode, the opening theme of the English Dub was temporarily changed to a shortened version of OVERLAP (already used in the original Japanese from episode 190 onwards). OVERLAP was kept for approximately 10 episodes before it was eventually changed back the usual Yu-Gi-Oh! theme music.
what did this actually happen or did I somehow repress this
buh?? on what network? i’m pretty sure i watched the ae dubs as they aired on wb and i don’t remember this at all
sapphire-ring said: Definitely not on my network, because I watched the dub as they premiered.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure I did too (hell, I recorded the premieres on a videotape that I’m sure I still have lying around somewhere and don’t remember that happening), and I know the WB was the only channel premiering DM episodes… It’d be cool, but knowing 4Kids (especially with how they were back then) I doubt they would’ve had OVERLAP playing. I wonder where their source is for that lol.

That’s true, I’ve only really altered their subs to make them more accurate courtesy of the closed-captioning and fit my “voices” for everyone, but they’re watchable enough, the big card info subs aside. Or at least a few are, I’ve run into a few errors after 161 that some proofreading would’ve fixed, but most of it is just stylistic differences lol. Though, from the looks of it, the 161-167 scripts I got from them are the first versions, and the others at least got revised.the gx_st subs are kind of great, they’re like 90% decent with sudden, wonderful random intervals of engrish
