In the sub Leo tells Sanders basically to kill Yuya, which is why he throws them to the proverbial wolves(BB and his students), he was trying to kill him.
But in the dub, Leo says to bring Yuya to him alive.
Which makes no sense considering what’s about to go down.
So a question for ya’ll. Who actually uses eighty-six as slang?
Cause, in the latest Arc V dub episode Yugo says that Fusion monsters aren’t Rin’s type so he’s going to ‘eighty-six it’ and I had to google that because, what the fuck does that even mean?
Apparently, it’s sang for, ‘getting rid of something, ejecting someone, or refusing service.’
So Yugo’s saying he’d going to get rid of it. But like, who says that??? Does anyone even say that?
I’ve literally never heard that slang ever. In my life.
The dub actually keeps it pretty well intact (maybe slight line changes but like nothing that ruins it and the emotion is still there for the most part)
(with Yuri saying not to make up stories [about where Zuzu is] or he’ll never see Rin again)
to this scene-
(with Yugo proclaiming he will see Rin again and he’ll protect Zuzu from Yuri).
Ughhhhhh….
Like, Yugo has no idea that Yuzu/Zuzu is alive, but the dub acts like he does. Which is gonna make their reunion scene, interesting to say the least.
Thing is, I think back when Yuzu crashed into the building, they had Yugo assume the best-case scenario (in fact, I think he literally said “I won’t think the worst!”), so I think this is just them trying to stay true to that. Which isn’t terrible because it gets around the whole thing about him thinking she’s dead, while he just goes on his merry way assuming the best so when they reunite, he’ll likely be all “I knew you’d be alright!”. It’ll be jarring, but what isn’t with these guys.
Sub!Yuto: ‘Duels with smiles’ is a respectable ideal, but it can only be done after the Academy is destroyed. *takes over Yuya’s body*
Dub!Yuto: If you won’t make the hard decisions I will! *takes over Yuya’s body*
Honestly, I like this dub line. Works better. Also, moments before that, Yuto is telling Yuya that his smile dueling is pointless to use on Aster and Yuya just, looks so offended.
‘What do you mean I can’t get through to him with smile duels?’
And, if you thought sub!Yuya talked about smiles duels a lot, dub!Yuya is worse.
Here he was all about changing Aster’s mind and convert him, rather than just trying to get information about his father.
