“Frederick loves to duel as much as he loves digging into a strudel! Always smiling and ready to cheer, Frederick and his best friends Allie and Tate are Yuya’s number one fans! Frederick attends the You Show Duel School hoping to be the best duelist ever! If Frederick’s duel moves are half as good as his dance moves, Frederick’s future as a dueltainer will be fantastiche!”
Sora’s English voice is fine and all, but I honestly did not like it when Sora was suppose to sound evil, like during his duels against Shay (Shun). In the original version, he sounded cute but menacing at the same time. In the English version, he just sounds too inappropriately sassy and did not give me the chills that the Japanese version gave.
we’re most likely getting her’s and Edo/Aster’s VA’s back….
Yeah…..
To be fair, I liked their VAs (actually really liked her voice in Season 1 and wish it didn’t get so high-pitched); it was always the script that watered them down, along with voice direction. So I just hope they don’t ham the script up too much with them, and with Dunstan doing voice-direction, I’d hope that aspect turns out well.
Tsukikage’s name in the Arc V dub is really MOON SHADOW?
But I looked it up and apparently “Tsukikage” does mean like, moonbeams or something. So I guess it makes sense….. more sense than naming Reiji “Declan”.
Yeah, Tsukikage literally does translate to Moon Shadow (tsuki=moon, kage=shadow; same for Hikage=Sun Shadow), so it’s more of a literal translation there; they did something similar with Hokuto by naming him Dipper Orion, and Shun with Shay Obsidian. Much better than “Declan,” definitely–especially when Reira gets a similar name in Riley, lol.
here’s a little story about a hero named yuya
who lives in a world of crazy card duelers
combat trained at an ill academy
wreck fools with his deck
got killa strategy
battle ready, on guard
summon monsters wit cards
haters act hard,
get buried, graveyard
yo yuya!
wanna be the king of this card game?
bust out ya secret weapon
that pendulum thang
watch these fools all scatter
when yo monsters hit the ring
yugioh five y'all
Just a little thing I’ve been wanting to do for a while; the ARC-V dub is at least decent and has some decent/great actors involved, but I’ve felt that the one thing hurting the dub the most is the change in music. That, and fluffy dialogue. and awful dialogue
So, to that end, I finally got around to tweaking a plugin in Cool Edit a bit and worked with the audio to get it sounding decent enough to be able to mess around and add the original score back, and here’s a preview! I started here since episode 10’s a personal favorite, and the dub was also surprisingly good for it. I made the dialogue match up a lot more with the Japanese script when possible, meaning some lines were shortened (like with Henrietta scolding Dipper) or muted (and with scoffs/whatnot, I might recycle them in spots). And because the isolator isn’t perfect, I’ll be adding back SFX to make it sound a bit more natural, along with tweaking the audio some more. Thankfully, the dub uses some more moments of silence where there originally was music, lol.
I’ll probably revise this part/the audio as I go along, but here’s this to look at. More of a side project (especially since I still do want to work some more on my 5D’s!DBZKai thing), but one I would like to work some more on. Enjoy!
(Check out my dub/sub comparison for episode 10 here!)
Re: Action Duel chant, 14 was actually the closest the dub got to keeping the original ADC, lol. Shame they forget they did a good adaptation of it in every other episode… But 14′s dub did turn out pretty well, like you said; I just wish Shuzou’s dub voice was less ridiculous sounding
