Tweets as I watched ARC-V dub!125, an episode dear to my heart because of how good it is originally:

My biggest gripe w/ the ARC-V dub is how an intense scene is like that originally bc of the awesome music but they replace it with a tune not even close to matching the vibe… Oh and unneeded character shade (Yuri: “I’ll take Ancient Gear Hydra back–can’t have it sticky from your candy fingers” when he just says the first part)

I’m surprised they kept the Parasite on top of Yuya’s brain, but I guess that was too important to cut around, but lol They cut the Doctor massaging Yuzu’s face to taunt Yuya.  And the scene with the Parasites becoming scared was… awful compared to the suspense originally there, partly because of the music, but also partly because Liscio doesn’t play Yuya as chillingly as Ono does:

• JP!Selena: Our Parasite Fusioners… are scared?
  
• JP!Yuya: Get as many to hit me as you want–but bugs are still *bugs*!
  
• Selena: [Our parasites] look like they want to run and hide–I wonder why…
  
• Yuya: It’s all bc of me… They realize they’re in danger–a lot of danger!
  

dub!Yuya not giving his one-off Monster a real summoning chant: “By combining the two most powerful dragons in the universe [what are Starve Venom and Clear Wing chopped liver], I’ll create a monster that’s all the RAGE!” are you kidding me 4K berserk!Yuya/Z-ARC isn’t supposed to be making wisecracks

And this is a trend the last bunch of dub episodes too, I think if 49 was dubbed with this latest batch, we wouldn’t have gotten Odd-Eyes Rebellion’s proper chant either.

I should be surprised that 4K didn’t bother updating their opening with footage from Pendulum Beat and Dashing Pendulum, but… actually, I kind of am after they updated with Trump Card and Speaking video in Synchro when that switch happened…  Maybe it was all that text in Pendulum Beat keeping them away…

Overall, 125′s dub was decent, but the unneeded trash-talk, Yuya’s unneeded pun-plays when he’s kinda/sorta not himself in a rage, and the more lackluster droning music compared to the soundtrack that helped make the original episode as good as it was don’t do it any favors for me.

So tonight’s dub episode was the ‘big reveal’, where Leo explains the whole thing behind the Dimensions and how they came to be. The episode was fairly close to the original, so there’s that. However…

I am extremely disappointed in Zarc’s dub voice…and curiously he’s voiced by the same VA as the Yu-boys, so I was surprised. Now I knew that that dub is going to change a whole bunch of things, but the episode wasn’t the problem it was Zarc’s voice. I knew that they were going to sensor Zarc going crazy but I didn’t like how he sounded, so for Zarc fans they might be disappointed (myself included).

Curious, because he has the same VA as the Yu-boys since it’s still Michael playing him.

It was polar opposite of this, but there are some good things too like: Ray’s dub voice revealed (and yes it’s the same VA for Zuzu), 4K pretty much keeping the episode intact. In the Synchro arc (dub version) we got to hear a glimpse of what Zarc sounded like and he sounded a whole lot better so I was eager to hear him speak. Granted, it was him being angry because of Berserk Mode, but now I guess you can say it’s anticlimactic.

I still like Zarc, but damn…
