Doesn’t leave much room for it to be transcribed as “Ute”
Best-case, they were going for “Uto” but even then it’s a stretch
And with the lookalike-Yuya and the “Yu” naming scheme there for context, would it really make sense for it to be Ute? :P
Romanized things in the anime have always had a slight margin of error. Remember “MORTETN”/“MOMENTUM?” Also the time or two they misromanized Rua and Ruka’s names? It could be true, it might not, but until there’s some official word on it, going with the context leading to “Yuto” is our best bet.
The same should go for Reira too, as much of an L/R issue as it is: he’s Reiji’s brother, so Reira makes a little more sense than Layra. Though it does sound a bit weird to say out loud lol.
What exactly is going on with Sora in Arc-V? I've only seen stuff about the show through reposts, though I never really did trust the guy so I'm not shocked that he seems like a surprise-bad guy character, but what is he doing/did he do?
Well, he’s basically showing his true colors. You basically have to retrace his time on the show to see why it’s notable, and I saw a post earlier that covers this well, but the gist is that… *spoilers under the cut*
Yep, I do! I dunno what it is, but it sorta had me hooked from episode 1. Maybe it’s the music (done by the awesome dude who composed Code Geass’s soundtrack, mind you), or Yuya’s “laugh things off” attitude (which I’m sure is going to get twisted later), or Katsumi Ono coming back to direct it, or just the general atmosphere of the show; I couldn’t tell ya. But after the general tone I got from early ZeXal and how I didn’t like it (may change when I give it a full rewatch, since I’ve heard it gets better), the fact that I got fully hooked come episode 4 and Yuya’s little display at the end probably says something. It’s also got interesting plot threads going on, like Reiji, Yuto and the other Dark Duelists/the whole alternate dimension thing, the LDS trio, and I do want to see how they get handled, along with whatever new things get thrown in.
So yeah, so far so good; definitely give it a watch if you haven’t already!
So I only got to about where the duel started in ARC-V 19 back at work (about to fully watch it now), but the part where the bus stopping makes Nico jump ahead, and then you see the sign saying to hold tight or something… XD
Also, I find it funny that Eida asks Yuya what “yoroshiku” is in French, when there’s so many ways that can get translated haha.
hey i have a question! so i haven't watched zexal like at all. but i want to start watching arc v. but then i feel bad that i'm leaving zexal out but it's actually starting to look interesting now? idk i've just been looking up the characters and stuff. so is there anything in arc v mechanic wise i wouldn't get if i skipped zexal? like do they use any rules from zexal in arc v? also is zexal good? i keep hearing it's good and people need to stop insulting it. thanks!

Don’t feel too bad, I’m kind of in the same boat myself lol (I’ve seen some of early ZeXal, but that was way back and only up to that one throwback episode). The only thing that probably wouldn’t make sense to you would be Xyz Summoning, since that was ZeXal’s whole thing and it gets featured in ARC-V with the Dark Duelist and LDS. (And maybe some jokes about Shingo’s design or IV and Reiji sharing a Seiyuu apparently.) But you can easily read up on how that works or watch an episode, so that’s easy to remedy and you can just jump in! Which I would, because so far it does look pretty promising. The new previews I’ve read about on NAC have me slightly worried, but we’ll see how those episodes go lol.
As for ZeXal, I can’t really judge it since I haven’t given it a proper chance, but from what I’ve seen, it gets good going into ZeXal II. The duel choreography is probably the top complaint I’ve seen about it, though. Odds are I’ll probably like it as a whole a bit better now that it’s been so long after 5D’s that it won’t be as much of a mood whiplash, but yeah. Hope that helped a bit! :)
Yuya’s last turn with all the awesome music and the visuals and the “ZERO!!” and just the EVERYTHIGN
I think it also says something that I’m really liking the music in general four episodes in (which I don’t remember happening with ZeXal when I first watched it for a bit), so much that I already get kinda pumped when I hear that Pendulum Summon theme, or that final-move theme. Considering this is the dude who scored Code Geass, I’m not really surprised haha.
Huh, my rantings aside - seems these two pics just showed up on 2ch.
Indicating that while 5D’s had Riding Duels and Zexal had AR Duels, Arc-V will have … Action Duels! Seems the duelists will have to interact physically with the duel fields? Things like jungles and castles?
Also the new method of summoning is confirmed as Pendulum Summoning. It involves 2 monsters, powerful new effects and… doesn’t seem to say much else.
EDIT:
Also, the two humanoid monsters from the promo pic had text that referred to them as “Star Reading Magician“ / 「星読みの魔術師」 (blond hair) and ”Time Reading Magician“ / 「時読み魔術師」 (auburn hair)
