But the attempt is commendable. there’s so many duels or just general scenes that are this one guy talking to himself and each character sounds distinct

Mmmh. I rewatched the italian dub of episode 77.

In this dub (which means probably in the eng dub too), Yuzu is way less selfless when she asks to stop the duel because sergey is wounded.

She thinks “Wait, maybe the public will listen to me more if I ask to end the duel instead of just winning!”

I’m not sure how I feel about this. It bothers me a bit.

Sergey has been changed, too, the whole “enduring pain” part was replaced with generic villain themes. 

The rest is?? pretty much the same. Silly jokes have been added, dialogues have been modified, usual stuff. It’s not completely different, and it’s not exactly bad, but Sergey and Yuzu irked me.

Especially since Yuzu is really selfless in Synchro. Heck she shows pity for Roget AFTER he’s done tossing her around! She was an angel of some sort, and that got lost.

I’m not surprised about Sergey being changed in the dub. That was kind of expected given how he was in the original version and I fully expect the dub to tone him down some more, especially with regards to his death. But that change for Yuzu bothers me a lot more. Why make her be more selfish in wanting to end the duel? She’s still interested in trying to warn the City about the upcoming invasion, but did they have to make her come off selfish like that?

Being worried about Sergey like that was kind of important in terms of showcasing her kindness and factoring into Sergey’s speech about how she thought that she already had the duel won. Plus, she mentioned that a duel like this couldn’t be entertainment, or something along those lines, which was also kind of important. It’s not only an unnecessary change, but one that makes dub Yuzu more selfish than she really was. Sergey’s changes were at least understandable, but why they had to make Yuzu come off a bit more selfish, or at least seemingly not being worried about her opponent during a duel as she was before, is beyond me.

It was also a very strangely done change. She still talks about compassion and stuff, but only after that off-hand “wait. Maybe, if i just stop the duel…”, and after going “hey you’re injured!”

It was a very awkward line said at a very awkward time. I’m actually kinda hoping this will be just an english-to-italian translation mistake. Why have her say “oh wait maybe i should show compassion” when what she should have said was “ok no this is so wrong this is not how i do things”

Especially since everything else plays out as it should! It’s a small line but dang it, it really changes everything. I don’t understand why they didn’t keep going on with the thing they were already doing, just to throw that line in.

Actually as long as the guide doesn’t change episode 47 will not be premiering. Only 46 and 48. But the recap in 48 might still have Yuuri’s voice in it

It might be a mistake and they might change it later in the week. ^^’
There are reruns happening and the one for episode 47 is in three weeks approximately.

Watching some of the Italian dub past 34 for curiosity’s sake (downloaded here), and uh

Episode 39.

Berserk Yuya.

So, not only is the music as forgettable as always (naturally), but–and I’m really hoping this is just the Italian dub–Yuya sounds way too emotional when he should be talking in that super-calm voice he originally had… And apparently, he’s still taking control of the duel and swinging his monsters into action when he’s… supposed to be in this darker state?

Also, it sounds like 39 has one of the worst Action Duel Chant™ handlings, like those specific-to-current-situation ones; pretty sure there was a cut here or there.  But they did keep Isao’s talk of darkness, and I think most of the dialogue was on-point, from what I understood, so there’s that.  No weirdly demonic laughter in that one scene either.

Side-Note: It’s 13 episodes since the MC/ALC started, and they still haven’t updated the opening.  Probably won’t until episode 50, at this rate.  Wasted opportunity when they have awesome Burn! footage to use.

Does 4K have a thing against synchro summoning or Kit Blade(Yaiba Todo) or something, because they gave other characters summoning chants whenever they fusion or xyz summon, but whenever he synchro summons, it pretty much goes like this:

Kit: “Now I tune this monster with that monster!”

*5 seconds of awkward silence*

“I SYNCHRO SUMMON!”
