Expect a mix of YGO stuff (and a little ZeXal and SEVENS [which I'm slowly watching]), with some occasional randomness.Duel Links ID: 537-542-930 | Master Duel ID: 999-767-712

So the movie is based on DM (YGO Classic). I’m not mad, this was completely expected.

In Japan and in the card game in general, all the different series get plenty of merchandise/exposure, and they often market them together. The only merch in Japan I can really think of that only DM has are those detailed. expensive figures. YGO is seen as one big entity over there, and they have the money to make stuff for everything. NAS and TV Tokyo have TONS of money.

Reiji glasses are a real, official thing. So is Tag Force Special, which has characters from every series.

In the west, for some reason, the spinoffs are way under-marketed. Over here, it’s much more common that original series that created the boom to get the franchise going is going to be the most popular, I can’t think of any where that isn’t the case. Nostalgia is a VERY powerful force in the west.

4K Media, who currently handles the series outside of Asia, probably don’t get that much budget-money from Konami, and don’t have that many employees. Most western YGO merch revolve around DM, because it’s safe. If they had the money, I’m sure they’d give more attention to the spinoffs in general, and market everything together. It doesn’t help that the spinoffs are pretty shoddily dubbed and rushed, though ZeXal is an improvement in a lot of ways.

I’m hoping this movie can help them do that. And even then, loads of people WANT this movie to happen. They WANT to see what happens to everyone after Atem leaves, what becomes of normal Yugi, Kaiba, and everyone else. The last movie was barely an hour long, and only tied into 5D’s, and that never got to be addressed in the dub.

This movie is slated supposedly for 2016 in Japan, which means they have much more time to develop it into a full-length feature than Bonds Beyond Time.

I’m more interested in the spin-offs because they’re much more odd, but I understand why it’s based on the original series.

However, 4K aren’t ignoring the spin-offs completely. They’re working really hard to roll out each series digitally and on DVD and Blu-Ray, both dubbed and in Japanese with subtitles. Please give them time to do that, THEN we’ll get awesome stuff based on those things.
