so i used to watch Yu-Gi-Oh all the time as a kid but i never finished GX
the things I’ve heard about these two though… oh man… this is literally like a few episodes in
(the subs don’t make a lick of sense here btw, don’t pay attention to them)
They don’t make sense because they’re my ancient subs from back when I barely knew Japanese. :P
I have a masterpost of stream links for my GX subs, which include my deeply-revised Season 3 subs–more accuracy, less stiltedness, and the beauty of DVDRip quality! I’m on mobile, so I can’t add a properly placed link, but click “My GX subs” on my blog page to find it, and it’ll help you finish GX well if you plan to!
(If you meant they’re just out of context, sorry lol. But hey, new information!)
Guess that’s why he travel’s a lot or what ever. Gotta get them artifacts for the museum. I wonder if that means Ishizu has met him and talked to him about exhibiting the stone tablet.
Sorry for the lack of updates, but I’ve finished editing the script! I’ll give it a quality watch tomorrow, then I just have to fix the “Super Animal Le[a]rning” goof. That should be the only fix…
Also, in the extended preview, Shou’s being a dork about New Year’s since it’s winter break lol. “There’s rice cakes, New Year’s food, karuta cards, and more!” I’ll have a Translation Note for karuta when I post the episode.
Now that we have a definite release date for the YGO 2016 movie, I feel obliged to say this:
If you haven’t yet, read the original Yugioh! manga.
The movie is completely manga based, and I assure you if you haven’t read the original manga you will be very very confused, as the original manga and the DM anime are completely different. The early part of the manga (i.e. the important bit that DM completely left out) has good scans floating about the internet that are available for you to read.
Err, they’re not that different. The biggest difference is in the first seven volumes but from what I know the main plot of the anime is a lot closer to the manga then, say, the original Sailor Moon anime is to its manga. Duelist Kingdom happens in both, Battle City happens in both, the Millennium World happens in both. Not all the details are exactly the same, true, and the anime certainly did omit things, but I really don’t think anyone who hasn’t read the manga will be completely lost. The characters wouldn’t be unrecognizable either.
The only thing I can think of that might really be confusing is if they actually do call Duel Monsters “Magic and Wizards” instead. Which imo is kind of a stupid thing to do because I have never seen anyone in the fandom refer to it by that name, not even the manga fans.
Anyway, not to say that people shouldn’t read the manga. The manga is pretty cool, people should definitely read it but it’s not an absolute necessity imo.
the anime had it so kaiba was present at millennium world. in the manga, he shows up on the last page to give everyone rides home and that’s it.
in the anime, you can argue that kaiba has closure re his rivalry with atem/yami yugi.
in the manga? he doesn’t. that side of yugi is just gone, forever, completely out of the blue.
the movie’s based on the manga, so we’re going to see a kaiba who never saw his ancient past, never watched the ceremonial duel and never got to offer any sort of farewell to atem/yami yugi as well as acknowledge yugi’s own skill. that’s a pretty big difference and the implications are pretty huge considering we’ve already been told how far kaiba’s mental state has deteriorated.
idk i don’t find it unreasonable to get people get up to speed on the kaiba they’ll be watching, because anime only viewers might be expecting someone entirely different.
(also the anime had a huge hateboner for bakura getting screen time and severely downplayed jou’s importance and actions but that’s neither here nor there)
That’s a fair enough point, I guess. That is a pretty major difference. Although I think most of the people who would be likely to watch the Japanese version first as opposed to the dub would be at least passingly familiar with what happens in the manga. I have no idea how the English dub will handle it but I think they’d try to make it as easy to follow for the anime fans as possible.
Although honestly, they’re going to have to work pretty hard to convince me that Kaiba deteriorating is actually in character for him even in the manga as I thought the point of the end of Battle City was for him to let go of all those things once and for all and he seemed pretty satisfied to dedicate himself to the future after that. He would probably be disappointed by Atem’s sudden disappearance but I really don’t like the implication that he would start regressing because of it. :\
Yugioh Arc V episode 79 spoilers and a rather short but interesting cast list! Thanx again to DMC3444!
Episode 79: 覚醒する魔導剣士 – Kakusei Suru Madou Kenshi
(The Enlightened Paladin)
Thanks to Sora’s action, Yuya is now convinced that Yuzu is safe. In order to begin his counterattack, Yuya poured all his feelings into his next draw. What Yuya drew was the card that Sam entrusted to him, the useless card, Tuning Magician!
Summary:
Thanks to Sora’s message, Yuya is now convinced that Yuzu is safe. In order to begin his counterattack, Yuya poured all his feelings into his next draw. What Yuya drew was the card that Sam entrusted to him, the useless card, Tuning Magician! While everyone believed it is a dead draw, Yuya put all his faith into Tuning Magician…
honestly i just want to say something about sora in the latest episode because i noticed something and perhaps i’m just hopeful but
way back in episode 41, we see sora getting his mission from the professor about getting selena back and all that - and the second sora sees the hologram, he says all this:
is it just me, or does he seem to be genuinely a bit worried about whether or not he was supposed to capture yuzu? because that’s what it looks like to me. now, it’s probably just wishful thinking, but i’d like to think sora had actually formed a friendship with yuzu over teaching her fusion summoning.
and i’m pretty sure this was one of the first few times where he actually didn’t use fusion for, well, you know, causing destruction.
and then in the latest episode, we have this:
i’m probably looking into it too much at this point, but the fact sora took the topic into a slightly different direction after dennis mentioned about taking yuzu back to the fusion dimension could be a sign that he was uncomfortable about the thought of taking yuzu to academia, to a place where chances would be that something might be done with her (or her bracelet because that seems to have a part to play, though we don’t really know why yet)
again it’s just wishful thinking but i just want the friendship these two have to come alive again i really liked their interactions
