Shuttered polling places, endless lines, and widespread disenfranchisement—particularly for minority communities
Something was amiss in Arizona on Tuesday. As Hillary Clinton claimed victory in the state’s Democratic primary, thousands of voters were left out to dry, with shuttered polling places, endless lines, and widespread reports of disenfranchisement.
In Maricopa County, which includes the capital Phoenix, voters waited up to five hours to cast a ballot after the County Elections Office slashed the number of polling sites from 200 in 2012 to just 60 this year. As the state’s most populous county, this amounted to more than 20,000 voters for every available polling location.
As Sanders supporter Patti Serrano told the Phoenix New Times, “I think there’s voter suppression going on, and it is obviously targeting particular Democrats. Many working -class people don’t have the privilege to be able to stand in line for three hours.”
Ultimately, Clinton was credited with winning 57.8 percent of the vote to Sanders’ 39.8 percent. But more than have 36,000 people signed a White Housepetitioncalling on the Obama administration to investigate the voter fraud and suppression in Arizona.
Please support this petition. People don’t have to spend hours in line to vote. The results of Arizona Democratic primary are not accurate - lots of people had no possibility to vote. It’s inappropriate and it blocked Berine supporters from voting. The struggle is hard, but all Bernie’s victories were the product of our empathy and activism. Get in now! Sign the petition! Arizona, we need your votes!
Please, spread it!
For more information, this article is a good start. There were a lot of problems besides the outrageous voting lines.
The Arizona Democratic Party is now investigating the claims. How much you want to bet they’ll find nothing wrong?
With so much national pressure I hope you’re wrong, but this is the state that keeps letting Jackass Arpaio on the ballot … :S
same state keeps electing him.
I REALLY hope I’m wrong and that the national level is called in. They STILL need to investigate Massachusetts.
Ugh. Don’t look at me, I voted for the dude from Pinal County in the last election.
I’m actually surprised I pulled this off haha. So the animators forgot to draw the rest of Taizan’s Disk in those frames, and I thought I’d try to fix that. In the first frame, the Disk was Judai’s and the “wing” part was from Kagurazaka’s–masked in from episode 18–while in the second frame, the Disk was from a later Judai shot, and the “wing” was from a Judai shot in 16. Then I just made a Drone proxy to put on his Disk along with a Drawler one I’d already made for a different edit, and bingo! Added the gif so you see how it’d look in action compared to the original.
One fix down, eight more to go!
how do you just forget most of a Duel Disk I don’t understand -
Your fix looks incredible, though! I would never have guessed you’d fixed up such a big mistake if I didn’t already know. Really, really nice work!
Pretty easily when you’ve got washboard abs to animate that somehow vanish at the end of the episode
Thanks! I was worried a bit since there are some spots in the stills where the masking wasn’t too perfect, but luckily it’s not too noticeable in motion, lol.
