Why some Yugioh fans hated on Yugioh 5Ds and Zexal?
This is something that always confused me. I dunno if it’s because of their strong loyalty to the original series or the fact that they felt that either sequels did not live up to their expectations when compared to the original or some other reason, but seriously, why the hate for Zexal and/or 5Ds?
To be honest, I thought Yugioh was done after the original series ended. Seriously when I watched that last episode where Atem/Yami Yugi disappeared into that white light after defeating Yugi, that was it for me and Yugioh. I seriously thought the whole thing was over.
You could imagine my shock when one night I flipped on my TV to check out Toonami and lord and behold, there was a new series called Yugioh GX—-same children’s card game, same duel monsters and shizz but with an entirely new cast of characters and NO Yugi/Yami or Yugi for that matter.
Yeah sure, Yami Yugi/Yugi did return in the end to kick Jaden’s ass but still, that didn’t stop my jaw from hitting the floor when I saw another Yugioh because like I said…I thought it was done.
And while I didn’t really stick around for (or honestly understood) GX, I did come back for 5Ds. And for something that people allegedly said was lame, I freaking LOVED 5Ds. 5Ds made me fall in love with Yugioh again and while people ranted and made jokes about “Oh Card Games on Motorcycles is so stupid.”, I thought the concept was quite interesting and original.
I loved how the creator and writers for the show evolved the whole premise of the game while staying true to its predecessor. More importantly, 5Ds gave me 2 of my favourite OTPS of all time. Why would I not watch the show?
Despite what peoples say, 5Ds was the shizz and Zexal is turning out to be just as awesome.
I mean what’s not to like about Zexal?
Yeah sure, I admit that at first I was a little skeptical of Zexal but…after watching a few of the late episodes, I realized that it’s not so bad.
And like with every Yugioh series (except GX since I skipped that whole spinoff), I found at least one or two loveable characters to squeal over and make me want to watch the show.
You know who I’m talking about, right?
That’s right Astral; I’m looking straight at your ass.
No seriously, I am literally looking straight at your ass.
Dude you are freaking naked for Rah’s sake. Where else am I supposed to look? The dude has rhinestones embedded on his buttocks that points straight to the one that I’m pretty sure represents his butt crack. The dude has a bedazzled ass. Astral has a bedazzled ass! A bedazzled ass that glimmers and shimmers and probably glows in the dark too (Yuma does call him a flash light though).
Honestly, you can’t get this kind of shit anywhere else but on Yugioh. They ain’t even trying to hide the fact that Astral was drawn butt naked for fan-service reasons.
And you can’t tell me the
yaoibromantic relationship between Yuma and Astral isn’t precious.Seriously, look me in the eye through your virtual screen and tell me that this doesn’t make your heart shatter into a million pieces.
Their relationship is so reminiscent of the close, brotherly bond between Yugi and Yami Yugi/Atem that I just…I can’t.
So all in all,
Seriously haters, remind me again why you don’t like 5Ds or Zexal?
