"Any card—so long as it exists—has a power that is needed."

JC, aka GymLeaderLance99 or GLL99 or Lance99. 32|He/Him|NYC. I fansub GX, work on dub/sub comparisons for 5D's (and GX eventually), and have various other projects going. Expect a mix of YGO stuff (and a little ZeXal and SEVENS [which I'm slowly watching]), with some occasional randomness.Duel Links ID: 537-542-930 | Master Duel ID: 999-767-712

    stupidlyflirtatious:

How do duelists in yugioh know the names of their cards, special abilities, fusion/ritual/syncro/xyz material monsters or spell/magic/trap card effects of the cards If it only shows a picture with the ATK/DEF and attribute? It always confused me.

In the Dub, because of FCC Regulations on Advertising, the show was not allowed to have the cards look too much like the actual cards. So they widened the art, removed the names and text and just put in the levels, Atk and Def. In Japan, there is no such issue, so it could display all the cards texts (Which had it’s effects) and make it look like the real thing.
