Yeah, unfortunately, they just planned to put out a fourth DVD that went up to episode 12, but it never saw release.  Amazon even had listings for it, but it got canned.  They (re:Al Khan) claimed competition between the uncut DVD’s sales and those of the edited dub’s DVDs was the reason, but now we know it was also an issue with the rights to Shunsuke Kazama’s Yugi/Atem voice recordings.  An issue that may have been fixed recently, but we’ll see in time.

Meanwhile, if you’re willing to look past sometimes awkward voice-acting, Singapore did do a longer uncut dub haha.  Last I saw, it was only up to Mai VS Marik in the Battle City Finals, but more could’ve been thrown out onto the internet.  Unfortunately, looks like Dailymotion got rid of whatever episodes were left on there, so I dunno where you could watch it, unless someone wants to chip in? :P

This has been on my to-do list for a while, actually… lol.  Looks like it’ll take a reencode, though; the frames are all screwy, so when I try to push the audio into sync, it’ll still be off.  I’ll have a fixed version up later using the DVDRip for the time being until I get there and finalize my translations and everything at some point.

Yeah I just went on NAC and saw that! lol.  Very clever, 4K.  Between this and them translating Hokuto’s punny name, good to hear they’re doing their research for these.  And with how Shay’s VA is a fan of the franchise, hopefully he’ll be a good fit.  And hopefully he can help make sure the dub doesn’t have card errors lol.

Yeah, I noticed that too, after reading that post on NAC about it.  It’s good news, definitely; I like that they’re acknowledging the original product somehow, and even uploading the alternates.  Though I wish they could upload those other GX opening alternates textless since we never got them on those DVDs (lookin’ at you 99% S2 V2), if only ‘cause it’d save me a hell of a lot of time editing them to be textless. XD;

just to answer that other ask too, it does seem like it, and the scoring aspect does disappoint me a bit.  At least it seems like they kept or added a few moments of silence, though the comedic bit with Yuzu messing up the SV system and the music doing that record-scratch thing was lost on them.  Have to wait on the English dub to comment on the script and accents, though, but from what I’ve heard, if Yuya really has been given more trash-talking, I’d hope it’s more of a one-or-two-time thing, given the early episodes.  Also, sounds like our good ol’ female computer voice is back, voicing the Action Card-spreading scene for no reason…

Yeah, the dub doesnt really do the poor guy justice. Especially when he’s getting his development in Season 3; i made a reblog talking about some of that, moreso his switch back to Yellow in 108-109, a while ago. Might dig it up when i get home lol. But yeah, Syrus

Yeah, you do have a point; could be why I always opted to do my GX translating by myself. XD But yeah, I’d imagine the same happened with kattobingu/bring it to ‘em/pop-flying/high-five the sky/etc when it was first used lol (could be noted I thought “bring it to 'em” worked the best).  Just having too many people to get to agree on a translation could make it a slight headache.  I actually took those points into account, especially the “Action Duel at the end” thing, and at first tried to translate it like that, but just based on the sentence, it just seems implied that Action Duels are meant to be the subject, and so should most likely go in front; would look a little stilted at the end to me.  I could see the “wielding” thing, but hey, I was about to head to work; didn’t have much time to think about it. XD Also seemed like a good way to get across “it HAS MASS” but not adding too much to the sentence (like “Solid Vision that has mass”), since it’s describing Solid Vision.  I wanted to make it like “mass-having”, and “wielding” came to mind for a fit lol.

You’re welcome, glad you enjoyed it! I’m actually amazed myself at how well it came out too; would love to keep it going, if I can start getting more of the music-less audio tracks lol.  Especially since I love Kai and 5D’s, and Kai’s music scandal makes it hard to enjoy with the ever-inconsistent soundtrack.  Getting to gradually tack on stuff like Light and Dark and eventually even Z-ONE Battle would be cool.  Whenever FUNi starts the Buu arc, I wouldn’t mind trying this for it, too hehe.

DM: Mai VS Yugi’s a favorite, especially now that I’ve read through the original manga version of it.  The way Mai’s disappointed that she’s not dueling him at his best because he’s thinking of dueling Pegasus, and how she tries to egg him onto getting there, was good.  Also, her line about becoming stronger to overcome weakness has a lot of truth behind it.

GX: Ryou VS Yubel!Johan.  YOU KNOW THE ONE.

5D’s: I have two in the top spot so this is a tie! XD

Yusei VS Aki in the Fortune Cup Finals, definitely.  Especially the symbolism with Stardust’s effect and Yusei trying to get Aki opened up (and the music and everything was just fskdfds;lfjsd;ljfd;slkjf [DUEL OF FORTUNE CUP! FINALS! START!! *cue Mind Games*]).  And that’s tied with… Rua/Ruka/JACK VS Aporia! I mean, Rua–my son for more than 100 episodes–finally becomes a Signer? ABOUT FUCKING TIME.  Also, the chills Aporia sent down my spine with “Young one, this is despair.  I end my turn.” And just everything going on in that duel.  Highlight of the Ark Cradle arc for me.

[Honorable mention: Yusei VS Antinomy.  REST IN FUCKING PIECES SUN]

ZeXal: Have yet to see past ep.10 maybe, so I can’t really speak for it lol.

ARC-V: Yuya VS Reiji was amazing, and I look forward to a resolution.

Well, I’m not too familiar with FUNi’s VAs and stuff outside of DBZ, Fullmetal, and maybe Deadman Wonderland, and I haven’t seen their dub of One Piece, so I dunno if I’ve heard her elsewhere.  Ideally, though, if the dub gets taken over to the West Coast, I’d hope Megan Hollingshead can reprise her role as Mai, but I’m sure with the wider pool out there, her new VA wouldn’t be too bad.  If it stays here, her VA from the uncut DVDs would probably also get the job done.
