Does the Japanese internet have anything on Kanako Irie? All I've ever been able to find on English sites is that her only other role was Yumi on Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan. I always found it sad such a talented seiyuu has so few roles, so I was wondering if Japanese sites had anymore information on her. (like if she was in other things too or if a reason was ever given for why she vanished off the map)

Hmm, well, going off her JP Wikipedia page, it looks like her only role post-Camula/Johan was in some show called Monsuno in 2013; she’d taken a hiatus after GX before taking that role. Funny enough, she was on a voice-over hiatus from ‘01-’05 before coming on for Camula; her last role had been on an episode of Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo. The hiatuses seem to have been for her to focus on her stage career. It would be neat if she came back in VRAINS or had some more roles in other shows, considering how good she is (and hey, she did come back for Johan, thankfully)

I’m sorry, it’s not that I don’t answer! It’s just that I’ve been mentally distracted a lot these days; I work an 8-hr job, often going to the gym afterwards if I don’t go straight home which only gives me about an hour or two at home to unwind and prep for the next day before I have to sleep again (which I’m about to do now!). Add to that occasional social life stuff, keeping up with politics and news (which is something I’ve actually become pretty interested in 😅), and the innate distraction that is Duel Links, and well, not having time to answer asks more like

Don't know if you anyone told you this, but I think this a good thing to spread around: If anyone sees a mistranslation or mistake in Crunchyroll'a subs for YGO, just contact them through their Contact Us page and tell them about it. You don't need an account to do it, so literally anyone can do it. The more people who do, the better. They're a top streaming site, so they're always rushing through to get the episodes up an hour after they're released in Japan. So, YGO fans, please show support!

Do you think FUNimation is ever going to get the rights to the ygo series? They came pretty close to getting zexal before. They've been licensing a lot of shows that were only exclusive to Crunchyroll before, so maybe that means they might get one of the spinoffs? I'm pretty sure they're still interested in getting the rights to it if Konami would stop acting like a bunch of morons. What's your dream/ideal dub cast for any of the ygo spinoffs? :)

I want to be hopeful and say that they eventually will, but it really comes down to when the YGO license would expire under 4K Media (and if it will, since it’s now technically under Konami). I remember back when 4Kids had it it was set to expire in 2015, I think, and then the ADK lawsuit happened in 2012 or so and we had Saban almost scoring the rights (what a bullet we dodged), so it’s hard to tell whenever that might be. Not sure how Konami are being morons about the rights, though? I might’ve been missing some goings-on lately, lol.

Also, I can’t say I have an ideal FUNi cast in mind since I’m not fully aware of their pool (like, I watch FMA:B and Dragon Ball from them, but), but honestly, I’d be down for holding onto the cast we have in 90% of cases; they’re typically pretty fitting/good, it’s just that they’ve been bogged down by terrible dialogue and direction. Try to entice Megan Hollingshead into returning as Mai, ax Tyranno Kenzan’s “sarge” routine, give Mad Dog Inukai and Yubel respectable voices, ax JACK’s Britalian accent for a voice as deep as Hoshino’s, have Liscio only voice Yuya and Yuri just as Kensho did… Honestly, just give it a more accurate script, the original music, NO FOOTAGE MEDDLING, better acting direction/choices, and I’d be pretty happy. Well, also apply this approach to Duel Links, and then I’d be happy. Because I really don’t get why they couldn’t hold back on the punching-up of a lot of those lines…

So, seeing that they’ll likely be holding onto it exclusively for the foreseeable future, I’d like it if 4K at least partnered with FUNi like 4Kids did way back to produce more uncut dubs for the shows, hopefully including the spinoffs, if they can’t do it themselves. I mean, in this day and age, it still confuses me why they don’t take the DBZKai approach and dub for uncut DVDs and then edit those to TV, instead of doing one edited dub, but meh. I hope they try to do right by VRAINS when the time comes, since it’s shaping up to be really good.

you wouldn't happen to know if there's a decent sub file for DSOD floating around, would you? I rented the US release and either VLC is fucking with me, or they thought nobody'd notice if they just slapped the subs for the English dub over the Japanese audio track. good job guys

Actually I do! Especially considering that, oh, I helped make it. :P (And no, that’s not just VLC’s fuckup, that honor goes to Anchor Bay who somehow slapped it on and thought it’d be indistinguishable from the Japanese track. It was a whole thing, lol.)

Check out NAC, there’s a sub file for it there. I subbed the movie up until Kaiba VS Aigami, while GoldenUmi and NeoArkadia and some others from GX_ST were involved with the rest (with Horoko of TnKP’s own subs referenced to in some spots). Should make a noticeable difference!

Interesting… It works perfectly on my end, both while I’m logged in and in an Incognito tab. Could be your internet; if you’re on Wi-Fi, try resetting your adapter. Otherwise, I’d try clearing your cache, maybe?

isn't it kind of hypocritical to reblog posts about not watching dsod leaks, but then going and promoting your subs over watching gx legally on crunchyroll?

I admit, it kind of is, but I do mention within the masterpost/the tags on that new PSA post that the official Crunchy release should be given at least one watch given, yeah, official release; however they choose to go about it, be it play both but one on mute or otherwise, is up to them. That said, if people are going to use fansubs, they may as well know of ones that are of better [imo] quality.

(FWIW, I think DSoD’s a bit of a different beast in that it’s a 2017 movie out in theaters–which hasn’t been released on BR/DVD in Japan yet–VS a show that aired between 2004-2008, though I can also empathize with people living in places where it won’t hit theaters wanting to watch the leak.)
