It’s been a while, hasn’t it? XD I took a short break from my contest prep hiatus to make something cute for one of my best friends’ birthday. There is a story behind this one (because there is ALWAYS a story behind a song I record) and I will tell it to you.
I met this friend when I was at the very tail end of my embarrassing case of the dreaded “Weeaboo Phase” and we both played YuGiOh and I was often cosplaying as Sho at the time. My friend helped me build a theme deck based on Sho’s choice of monsters, and I could wreck some serious face with it thanks to his help, so I started calling him “aniki.”
Teardrop is a song about a deep, unconditional love for someone dear, whether it’s between family, friends, or lovers. I’ve always imagined that it was sort of like an image song for Sho, reflective of his friendship with Judai, who at that point in the anime is going through a lot.
That said, I hope you guys enjoy my translation and fandub of Teadrop, which was the third opening song from YuGiOh GX. I apologize for the quality. It’s not the best I’ve ever done, but I’m still really proud of what I’ve made. <3
