i can’t believe season 3 of ygo DM is widely considered a bad season. it literally includes a plot line about the former kaiba corp big wigs wanting to dispose of kaiba, with their reasons slowly being revealed to be because he dismantled the military weapons production arm of the company and put them out of a job because he wanted to use the tech to build an amusement park for kids instead…

except for one guy who was fully on board with the amusement park thing and instead is trying to kill kaiba because he’s obsessed with penguins and wanted to put a penguin attraction in the park and kaiba said no.

i think my favourite thing about this is that the tragic penguin backstory is played just as straight as the rest, like. you have that conga line of men who are extremely mad that they can no longer profit off the military industrial complex because a teenager with a mullet committed fourth dimensional chess patricide and then fired them, followed by a guy very earnestly recounting how penguins saved his life and how he therefore couldn’t deal with kaiba rejecting his vital penguin aquarium idea. i love yugioh.
