Expect a mix of YGO stuff (and a little ZeXal and SEVENS [which I'm slowly watching]), with some occasional randomness.Duel Links ID: 537-542-930 | Master Duel ID: 999-767-712

  • kyoujikuzunoha answered your question: Quick question for you writers/fellow grammar nuts…
No hyphen! There usually isn’t one between an adjective and “enough.”
the-supremeking answered your question: Quick question for you writers/fellow grammar nuts…
Shouldn’t it be “a heart big enough”?
alicethedragonvalkyrie answered your question: Quick question for you writers/fellow grammar nuts…
No, you shouldn’t need the hyphen. I can’t say for sure, but it looks kind of weird having a hyphen.
    Aaagh why didn’t I think of “a heart big enough?!” i was sitting here for like 10 minutes trying to reword it XD;
Yeahhh it did look kinda weird, but then so does “Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo”. XD
Thanks, you guys! *rushes back to Asuka being Darkness’d*

Oh yeah, and it’s publishing now! I like how it came out, too, some good Fubuki and Fujiwara stuff in that dialogue. :)

  • I don't know if you've ever been asked this. But whose your favorite Yu-gi-oh character?
    dwarfvader

Thanks for the question, I barely get asked anything anyway, so don’t worry. :P

Hmm…this is always a tough one for me, especially if you made it solely GX lol.  And because of my subbing it, characters I like writing for would probably also crop up.  Guess I’ll do both ends of the spectrum…

For GX—and it’s probably the usual answer lol—I’d have to go with Judai.  I just really love his development, especially with the events of Season 3, and how all of it starts to define him in Season 4, like his line to Saiou about using power for a greater mission.  Writing his lines in my subs has been pretty fun too; I liked writing a few of his lines in 154 when he was all sassy with Yubel haha (“How many times are we at now?” or something, it was) I could go into detail about why I love his development, but better-spoken people than me have (rhodanum definitely; I’m sure I forget others XD).  It also helps that he was going through that growing-up and graduating high school stuff at the same time I was lol.  But yeah, Judai, ya lil’ shit…

There’s also Saiou, but mostly ‘cause I liked writing for him lol. I liked a lot of his lines about destiny back in Season 2, and I liked his interactions with Ed and Judai.  Writing his lines in 170/1 was nice too, for just about the same reason, and it was interesting to see how powerless he felt since his loss to Judai with Mizuchi being taken.  Saiou is also nicely developed in Season 2, so that helps too.  And of course, I have to mention MANJOUME THUNDER!!

Elsewhere in YGO? I do like Yusei’s character (before he goes all messiah-like after the Dark Signers arc), and his speech to Rudger still gets me.  I also like Jack and his redemption plotline after he lost to Yusei in the Fortune Cup, and his thing with Carly (that gets completely forgotten for no reason).  In DM, I do like Mai, she’s a good character, and I liked how she helped Yugi and Atem—at the time Dark Yugi—reconcile in Duelist Kingdom.  I’m still at the DK arc in the manga, so I’ve yet to see more of her character unfold there, but I did like her for most of the anime, save a few moments in DOMA.  Also, Dartz is still my favorite villain in DM, with Dark Malik a close second.  Something about the Orichalcos was awesome to me as a kid, and I did like his character after I got to rewatch DOMA subbed.  May have to again soon though, lol.  I’ll give Bakura an honorable mention, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the Dark RPG went in the manga.

Thanks for the ask! That definitely got long haha.  So basically, Judai would probably be my favorite, but he’s not the only one. :P

oh gosh, is this the one where saiou said some crazy line about catching a mummy
That’s the one! Only I translated it a little less literally lol.  He says “miira-gari ga miira ni natta no sa” or “the mummy hunter has become the mummy”, but I translated it as “I went out [to shear a sheep] for wool and came back shorn”; the phrase kinda has a “well I bit off more than I can chew” meaning to it.  Makes sense in context, since it’s in response to how Judai mentioned that Saiou went to him about looking into Darkness.

I know what you mean about the scanlations. I like the idea of them but Viz’s release is better. Thankfully I have a link! https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0BwVjgAbk6rg-c1c0dkh3RzlzSXM&usp=sharing
Thanks, but unfortunately, that’s the same link I think you gave me before, and that I guess someone posted a zip of all of the manga from. :/  Still, posting it in case someone could use it! I did forget about NAC having the raws, so I guess those could help if anything haha.

    kaiowut99:

So I ended up on DM ep.200’s page on the Wikia while I was looking for Kaiba going full V-Chin when

“Spiritual Awakening”, known as “Dark Bakura on the Move” in the Japanese version, is the two-hundredth episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! second series anime. It first aired in Japan on April 14, 2004 and in the United States on October 22, 2005. As an homage to the original Japanese series and to celebrate the second series anime’s two-hundredth episode, the opening theme of the English Dub was temporarily changed to a shortened version of OVERLAP (already used in the original Japanese from episode 190 onwards). OVERLAP was kept for approximately 10 episodes before it was eventually changed back the usual Yu-Gi-Oh! theme music.

what did this actually happen or did I somehow repress this

buh?? on what network? i’m pretty sure i watched the ae dubs as they aired on wb and i don’t remember this at all

sapphire-ring said: Definitely not on my network, because I watched the dub as they premiered.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure I did too (hell, I recorded the premieres on a videotape that I’m sure I still have lying around somewhere and don’t remember that happening), and I know the WB was the only channel premiering DM episodes… It’d be cool, but knowing 4Kids (especially with how they were back then) I doubt they would’ve had OVERLAP playing.  I wonder where their source is for that lol.

the gx_st subs are kind of great, they’re like 90% decent with sudden, wonderful random intervals of engrish
That’s true, I’ve only really altered their subs to make them more accurate courtesy of the closed-captioning and fit my “voices” for everyone, but they’re watchable enough, the big card info subs aside.  Or at least a few are, I’ve run into a few errors after 161 that some proofreading would’ve fixed, but most of it is just stylistic differences lol. Though, from the looks of it, the 161-167 scripts I got from them are the first versions, and the others at least got revised.
Still, there’s this gem of a Translation Note
“Due to the sentence structure of what Asuka is saying, she is attempting to tell Judai that she loves him. (Source: Janime Forums; one of their translators)”
from 162 in the “I’m glad I met you” scene…

I never managed to find a transparent version or a vector of the Duel Academia logo. I think I might vector it for my own personal purposes but I can’t do it atm (at least not until Saturday)
I’m surprised too, I figured it’d have been around in Tag Force or the DS/GBA GX games lol.  But sweet, if you actually get to do it, I’m willing to wait for it! I’ll post 161 as it is now sometime tomorrow on NAC and then start work on 162’s script while I wait. :)
